I have a 6850 and alt-tabbing out of Everquest 2 takes about two minutes, no exaggeration. This affects me when I try to log into Ventrilo, for example. Rig is in my sig, ignore the old GPU. What is causing this?
What is the difference between ATI stating theirs in processing units and Nvidia stating theirs in processor cores? Is it apples and oranges? What's better, ATI's 960 stream processing units or Nvidia's 336 processing cores?
I really don't want to OC my GPU, I want something that works and is fast right out of the box and is also not going to be bottlenecked by my CPU.
Two issues I'm having are: it takes like two minutes to switch out of a game (via alt-tab), like if I want to check my email without logging...
I had an ATI 4850 that ran way too hot, fan constantly running. I ended up replacing it with this card. It's great, it's a noticeable improvement in performance, it runs about 30 degrees cooler and is thus quieter. But I'm still getting some weird graphical issues in games so I'm wondering...
The wonders of the internet: 3 different answers.
I've tried all three at some point in my day and the control freak in me wants to install the chipset manually and in the "right order" (chipset, video driver, sound driver, windows updates). So that eliminates the Windows updates option...
Well, I guess that leads me to another question I find myself asking - is it best to use the driver right from the chipset manufacturer or from the mobo manufacturer?
Or
download all your drivers and save them to an external drive, and reinstall the OS :P I always do a fresh reformat when I get a new piece of hardware.
Current rig in sig. My 4850 is on the way out, constant running at 80 degrees under load I guess has taken it's toll. Options for replacement as far as I see it are one of the following two:

Update:
I've been working with this stable OC listed in my last post for almost a month. no problems. I tried to set the memory multy from 2.4 to 2.5 and it seemed like all my data corrupted. I tried to run System Restore and that didn't work, so I reformatted.
Actually, what I did...
Sold.
Question then is: I need to directly connect my PC to the receiver via an ultra long toslink cable if, say, my PC is on the other side of the room? ;)
Is there bluetooth capability here?
I can't find the equalizer / SRS "WOW" settings and other enhancements in WMP in Windows 7 (is it WMP12?). I feel like that may be a large part of why I can't reproduce the same good sound that I get in XP. I wonder how much of a noticeable difference I'd hear with the Forte and my Z-5500s?
