i'm getting SB 2550K on Asus Maximus V GENE (Z77). i'll be looking for a maximum overclock on air (Zalman CNPS12X). in this regard SB is going to be a better performer than IB. if then later a new IB revision is released that overclocks better than this current revision i might be replacing SB...
i'm going SB (upgrading from C2D E8400) just because maximum overclocked SB on air will be better than IB. now I have to decide whether a Z77 or Z68 motherboard...
i play games on pa246 since may and i'm happy with it. i don't play fps games currently so i'm not sure how it competes in this area, but witcher 2 is quite fast paced and it played flawlessly
i'd also add sacred 2 with physx enabled. one of the few games for which i have to significantly raise rpm on my gpu cooler, otherwise it will crash sooner than later.
no way! i smoothly run witcher 2 on almost maxed settings (i don't remember exact levels of anti-aliasing and anizotropic filtering but they are there; without ubersampling) on my core 2 duo e8400 @4,1ghz + evga gtx260 core 216 sc. i tell you, witcher 2 is not demanding at all
which of these air coolers would you recommend for possibly heavily overclocked core i5-2500k? i'd like to get maximum of processor while still keeping cooler relatively silent.
NZXT HAVIK 140
Zalman CNPS11X Extreme
Scythe Mugen 3
Noctua NH-C14
other recommendations are welcome.

which of these will suffice for playing modern games at resolution 1920x1200, maximum details? i have specifically skyrim in mind.
Asus ENGTX570 DCII (could be Zotac GTX 570 AMP Edition, GIGABYTE GTX 570 Super Overclock)

well, star wars - the complete saga arrived few days ago and i was very eager to play it. first obstacle: my bundled powerdvd 8 wouldn't play it (to that moment i was able to play everything on it) and asked me to update. surprise, surprise... no updates for this version from cyberlink...
comparing pixperan photos, i'm very surprised that Asus PA246 is as responsive as NEC 20WGX2, which is (or at least was for quite a time) a gaming monitor.
on the other hand, it has quite considerable blue tint on both sides. in fact, this was the very first thing i noticed after switching it...
eizo s2433w does not incorporate sharpness function in osd. eizo fx2431 does so you can sharpen text to your likes. i don't know about other eizo monitors
i probably wouldn't get eizo s2433w if you have problems with eye strain. it's not good for cleartype text. although you can switch off cleartype it's still not very suitable for heavy text reading.
