Looking at picking up a dirt cheap budget 1080p gaming monitor as a display for a second setup, and I’ve found 2 from Acer that are well reviewed with these specs respectively. Which one would provide a better experience for games with fast motion?
The only option I see in this regard is the Dough Spectrum, but that's the same company that used to be EVE and they've got a horrible reputation.
I'd be glad with literally any other option.
Does such a monitor exist outside the Eve/Dough Spectrum? I'm sure I don't need to go over the company's poor history, especially when it comes to issuing timely refunds.
I'd prefer some other option for the same sort of feature set if possible, but I doubt anything thats qualifies exists...
I've been eyeing the Yamaha HS5 studio monitors for a PC speaker system upgrade. They're a good price, fit my size requirements, and sound fantastic. There's only one tiny problem: I can't find them available anywhere in the color I want. The usual colors are black or white, both of which are...
I’ve been using a non-gaming oriented 27” 5K display for the past 6 month now, and it’s reaffirmed what I already suspected: resolution is more important and noticeable to me than anything else for office tasks. That said, I surprisingly also find it to be slightly too large for comfort, and the...
Hey guys,
I'm still pretty interested in the 40"-43" size for desktop monitors. My ideal would be somewhere in between, from 34"-36" 16:9, but nothing in that category really exists. So, I'm willing to settle and go a little bigger.
The only problem is that at those massive sizes, a curve...
Basically the title. Does there today exist a PLP setup on the level of the legendary 20-30-20? Those displays had matching aesthetics (as in casing), matching heights, matching pixel densities, and to top it all off, matching color properties.
I doubt such a perfect match exists today, but is...
Pretty much the title. Intel has somehow managed to stuff 8 cores into their 45w, 14nm mobile H series chips that were originally meant for just 4 cores. Honestly, it’s worked out well for multi-threaded applications on laptops.
But with the rumored 10 core Comet Lake desktop chip slated to...
So, I know that there are a ton of high end TVs available when you look at 55" and above. This includes ink-black OLEDs, as well as searing bright LCDs with tons of lighting zones, and high refresh options all around. But you tend not to see the same quality on smaller TVs (or bigger monitors)...
I’m sure we all know this because of the organic decay and temporary image retention, but I wanted to point out two other things that I’d never heard of but am experiencing now.
See, I just got a new iPhone, and it’s my first device with an OLED screen, period. There are two issues I’ve noticed...
I’ve noticed that there’s a heavy focus on input lag and refresh rate when it comes to displays here.
Today, I wanted to ask if you have any recommendations for displays that are excellent with high PPI. I don’t really care about refresh rate or input, just the resolution and overall quality...
I know that people on this forum tend to be very up to date when it comes to rumors in the production of new displays. You guys tend to know what’s going to come out often well before it’s even announced.
So, today I wanted to ask if there was any info on a “super ultrawide” that’s essentially...
Is anyone here using this as a monitor? I'm having. hard time finding specific information on it, like the brightness, though it looks like a pretty good fit for me.
I want a high-DPI, high quality monitor that I can use for text work, not for gaming. 32" 4K I think is my sweet spot, but I...
I just made another thread in which I asked people which GTX 1080 laptop they recommend.
Another option I'm considering is the Alienware 13 R3 (OLED) w/ the Alienware Graphics Amplifier. The device is fantastic, and it's a good compromise for me. If I go with a gtx 1080 laptop, I'd almost...
Hey there.
I'm in the market for a beast of a gaming laptop, and I have a sizeable budget to back it up. I'm not sure what the best option is. Something to note though: one of the reasons I'm going for a laptop instead of the desktop in the first place is because I truly want to have as...
This is something that I really want in a high end gaming laptop. I've been looking at the Alienware 17 R4, Acer Predator 17X, and Asus G701VI, but none of these machines seem to have the ability to ready DVDs, CDs, and/or Blu-rays. I understand why this feature is disappearing in most...
Hey all. I'm currently looking at these 2 displays to use as a computer monitor. My main purposes for the display are gaming (not super competitive) and text work (documents and code).
I like both these displays because they're at a price I'm comfortable with ($650) and offer quite a few...
Simple question here, jut like in the title. What's the lowest price you guys can find the Sony X800D for right now? And where would that be?
I'm a little reluctant to spend $650 when new models aren't too far off.
Hey guys. I'm considering going the KS8000 route for a TV, but am torn apart between the standard version or the curved. At the price I'm getting, there's a $170 difference between the 2 versions. I intend to use this almost entirely as a monitor.
I've heard that at 49", such a massive size, a...
Can anyone comment on how the 49" X800D compares to the 43" X800D? Which is superior for what purposes, and why. I've heard mixed things about the IPS. Some say it's good (I want to game and do text work), some say it's bad, others say it makes no difference. I'm honestly quite lost seeing as...
Hey there guys... I really need some help deciding here. I've come up with a hundred different hypothetical setups that I can build to replace my aging 30" Dell 3007WFP, but I keep coming back to the same thing: a 4k TV. Thus, I've decided to finally bite the bullet and will be ordering tomorrow...
I was curious... HDMI 2.1 is looking to have a release date sometime in 2017. It just got me thinking, will this be one of those updates where we actually need to purchase new hardware (TVs, Monitors) to take advantage of the new HDMI standard, or will it be implemented through software so that...
Basically the title. I'm look for a dirt cheap (sub $100) FHD monitor that has swivel and height adjustment. I'd also prefer it to be natively compatible with VGA, if possible. Otherwise, I'll need to use an adapter.
Please, let me know if y'all have any suggestions. If there are none with both...
As I've mentioned in some of my other posts (and as I'm sure many of you can see), there's a huge migration towards TVs as primary displays here at [H]. I know that this is due to some negativity towards scaling, as well as the bang/buck ratio of TVs, with the immature state of 4K monitors...
Is there such a thing as a "modern" 2560x1600 16:10 monitor? Specifically, is there one with Freesync and small bezels? These are the top qualities I'm looking for in a 16:10, seeing how I love my 3007wfp and don't really want to let go of it.
If there are none that have the 2 features above...
I know there are numerous threads on this topic, but I was wondering if there exists a 4K that meets ALL of my criteria. I'll list them below:
Must Have:
1. 1080p at 120Hz support
2. Relatively low input lag
3. Chroma 4:4:4
4. Size between 40" and 49"
5. Good picture quality (most TVs tend to...
I was wondering why there's such a strong push in this community to run 4K monitors at native resolution, without text scaling. I know that in the early days of 4K, Windows scaling was awful, but it's improved a great deal since then. It just got me thinking, is there really any reason to not...
These are some of the most considered TVs for monitor use (behind Samsung's offerings), but they're getting a little old at this point.
I'm curious when we can expect to see newer versions of these.
All input appreciated.
Hey guys. I'll try to keep this brief. I have a 30" Dell (2560x1600) that I want to use with an aging Toshiba laptop. The monitor has a single dual link DVI port on it. The laptop (powered by a measly Intel HD Graphics 3000) has a female HDMI and a female VGA. I am unsure of the specification of...
Hey there all. After looking at 4K TVs for a good month, I've decided that I'd prefer a more immersive, triple monitor setup. Even then, I'm terribly unsure as to what the best option would be. I'll start off by listing what the screens will be for, listed from most important/most time spent to...
I've been looking for a decent monitor to replace my Dell 3007WFP, and recently turned a more serious eye towards TVs after a suggestion to go with the LG OLED55C6P (which I rejected only due to the extreme size).
After a bit of digging around, I decided on the Samsung UN43KU7500 (Curved...
I recently made a thread in which I was considering many different options with which to replace my current Dell 3007WFP. One of those options consisted of purchasing dual QHD (2560x1440) displays, and later adding a 3rd display.
In this thread, I want to ask which QHD monitor out there is the...
Hello all! I've been a long time lurker of the displays section of Hardforum, mulling over all the possible options for replacing my current monitor. After months of research, I've come to the conclusion that none of the current options at 4K are really perfect. In fact, they all seem to have...
