The NSA Has Nearly Complete Backdoor iPhone Access

I encourage you all to watch the video at the bottom of the linked article. The iphone backdoor takes up a minute of the entire presentation, and is not the scariest part.

Dotcom Wants To Encrypt Half The Internet

Encryption is great in theory, but when the network providers and the CAs work together by the hand of a government, privacy is just a facade. I have absolutely no evidence of this happening, but smart businesses obey.

Java Tops List of Software Skills in Demand

I bet most of the demand centers around APIs for mobile devices... as Java has one of the best performance / simplicity ratios for writing application servers.

Computer Science is the Hottest Major on Campus

In my experience, a small percentage of students will make it, and of those, a small percentage will actually write software. The six figure offer is only for the students who understand the CS and can craft software. The market demands software craftsmen over those who can mathematically...

How did I fix my 6950 by flashing with 6970 bios?

Yep, the shaders are unlocked (1536 according to GPUZ). The voltage increase makes sense. I think the fan behavior is also slightly different. I'm just glad it fixed my stability issues, even though it goes against common sense without considering the factors that you mentioned.

How did I fix my 6950 by flashing with 6970 bios?

I have had problems with Diamond reference 6950 2GB since I got it. Somewhat frequently my display would freeze or i'd get a bsod related to video. It became frustrating, so I would manually crank the fan and it seemed to fix it... but not entirely. So I went for broke and flashed it with...

how can I make a user go into public_html?

~/public_html is just that, public. If you want to make it so each user has access to "private" areas, you need authentication and authorization. In other words, you need some logic in your web app to identify users and restrict them to certain areas. There may be plugins for common HTTP...

Chinese Language to Dominate the Internet

Reference? I came across very few english speakers in China. Also, Mandarin is the national language, which means that the government mandates that all children learn mandarin in school. As to my opinion of the story: Who cares? Domination does not mean that all the sites we currently use...

    Consoles Are Banned In China?

One can definitely obtain consoles in China. I recall stores selling them when I was there last week. In response to Ashbringer (Assuming he is serious): You need to open your eyes a bit. Go to China and see for yourself.

    Quote of the Day

Another thing to point out: All digital media players use buffers. Buffers are temporary storage where parts of the source media (mp3, cd track, etc) are stored for seamless playback. Thus, all digital media players are pirates, and therefor subject to the crimes our vice-president has...

I turned my computer on this morning after being away on vacation for a week. After about 30 minutes of use, it turned off. I tried to boot it back up and it went into a cycle of booting for about a half second and then powering down. It kept repeating this process. I unplugged it and let...

Google Street View Scanning & Mapping Your MAC Address?

If I had to guess; id say they are doing this for the geographic data. With geo location being part of HTML5, the browser makers want accurate methods for determining the users location. So, having the mac of the AP in the route will allow them determine a users location, without leveraging...

Video Games Blamed for Return of Rickets

I think this is a good example of someone using evidence, with no absolute correlation to gaming, to push their opinion of gaming. The source of the problem is Vitamin D deficiency. You can play too many games and still obtain plenty of vitamins.

5,000 iPhones Sold in China First Weekend

So, let's assume that there is linear growth with 1,250 iphones sold per day. That means, based on the assumption that the population of china is 1,330,044,544, that 0.000000094% of the population will obtain the iphone each day. At that rate, with a constant population size, it will only take...

LG, Sharp Plead Guilty In Price-Fixing Scheme

The concept of fining a company for price fixing is crazy. Where does that money go? I have a feeling it does not go to the consumers. Instead of a fine, why not require the companies to offer consumers who purchased price-fixed goods a rebate with proof of ownership. I expect to see...

    The “Mac Tax” Debate

Macs are more expensive... it's clear. However, the last I checked, competition is good. So any anti-mac person here should at least understand that apple products will make MS products better. Apples are essentially "PCs" now, so it's safe to assume you are paying extra for the right to...

    Braininess Boosts Likelihood of Sex

It's true, but I think the term "wittier" fits better. Witty people are often funny and interesting. Wit requires intelligence, quickness, and creativity. Women want to see just how witty a man is by invading his personal (yet quick-to-share) body areas. My 2cents.
