Got it to work but not in the way it is intended. You are supposed to be using the blue (x16) pci-e lanes for video cards on this board. I got the black lanes to work for the 2nd card. So I have one in the top blue lane and one in the black lane which is running at 8x. Strange problem this.
Yes, currently running bios 905.
Also these cards worked in crossfire in the distant past. I just broke the fan blade on one of them and waited like a year to fix it.
The video cards are 6970s, one is a reference board and the other is a MSI Lightning 6970.
The 2nd card, no matter which...
Test both video cards independently and they work and loaded setup defaults in Bios.
One thing is that I can only get video to work with 1 card if it's in the first PCI-E area, i could not get video in any of the other PCI-E slots..... also I have a sound card that works in the other slots...

I have this video card and one of the fan blades are broken, the fan looks like itjust screws off fairly easily and i'm just wondering if anyone knows where i can get one of these fans? Or does anyone here have a broken one of...
Apologies in advance if this has been posted. The search function didn't come up with anything useful for this specific issue.
The only difference I can see between these two models is Power Design. The V being 12 phase, and the Pro being 16 phase. My question is: If I'm doing a mild 24/7...
I spent about 10 minutes reading reviews and watching videos and I'm going to take a pass on this. It is a piece of trash even for $69.99. Head over to Amazon and read some reviews, or go to youtube and watch some, you'll save yourself some time/money.
Also, kindle fire is coming out next month.
Ask them if they'll honor yesterday's price. I called today and I was told that they were $107.99. After explaining that I had come in yesterday and purchased one for $47.99, he was willing to honor that price.
I'm on my way to get another now.
I visited MC last night for the first time in many years. I picked up the i5-2500k for $149.99, and got an Asus z68 V-Pro mobo for $160. They were also willing to undercut newegg's price on RAM and the Corsair H80 (and pretty much anything else) by 5%.
Good deals. Thx for the info.
I took advantage of Micro Center's combo deal for i5-2500k w/ Asus z68-pro ($350 after tax) and just built (literally 1 hour ago) a new system. Since I don't have any use for this machine, and no one I know needs it, I'm selling it.
This system is used but not abused. It has plenty of life...
Just got this kit in the mail yesterday Installed it today, was an easy install.
So far i'm colling CPU only though I have my GPU stuff, I want to see what the different in temps before and after will be.
I'm going to OC and post screenshots but I was wondering what voltages people run to...
i used, after this broke, the pads that you put on the bottom of kitchen chairs. It works well in the 3 gpu computers that we use with ati stream.
We've tried cardboard as well and that worked too.
Ya the 45 is what they quoted me.
Also it is upright. I use a spacer afterwards and it worked fine except this card kept overheating after the fan broke.
I have this card in my gaming PC right now but I had it in another computer where we had a "crossfire" type setup. When I started the computer I guess they were too close and the fan blade hit the 2nd card breaking one of the blades off. Now when the graphics card is at full load it just crashes...
I have this kit cooling my CPU right now but I want to add a GPU cooler since I broke the fan on my 6970. What would I need to buy in order to do this? Here is what I am thinking...
I did, put them on 100% fan speed still no go.

This is the card I have.
Same setup I used HSI 6970s and OCed them to MSI specs and the cards are running at temps of
83/70/70 full load. 70%...
The board just has SATA and the raid that comes with having that. No other controller.
The blue screen code I get is 0x0000007B
Slipstreamed AHCI and controller drivers using nlite and it still crashes.
This is where i'm getting my drivers from, so far only picked the hard disk related...
I have 3 6970s in this computer and were having an issue with them in this HAF (the large one) case.
On full load they go over 100 C
What should I do to remedy this? They get so hot that i'm obviously afraid of running them like this plus the fact that they crash the system at this level...
250gb drive.
I'll get the error code next time I get home, at work. Thanks for the help.
My boards don't support floppy but I can probably integrate the drivers into the install if this is the problem. Havn't had to do that in a while.
If the error code is different than what you posted...
linux should not get a break until at least modeately difficult errors are easy to fix and every program is as simply to install as windows. Until then it is a server OS
System specs
AMD Athlon II 250
asus Sabertooth 990FX
ATI 6870
SATA Hard drive.
Set hard drives to IDE mode in bios, after windows setup loads the drivers and it goes to "starting windows setup" it bluescreens after a little while. I have tried for hours and plenty of bios settings and CANNOT...
ya that annoys me off, lol.
5970 would work for us as well.
We might have to go over to building 2 machines with 6970s and that would piss some people off over here....
Had have 1 we are building with 3 6990s right now that we already had, and they want to keep the same setup for the...
My company needs to order 3 more 6990s for a project but everyone is sold out. Is anyone here or any vendors reading this site selling any of these cards? PM/reply with price and how quickly you can get it after after payment.
For our application we did some tests with various speeds on PCI-E and found that with our current board that CAN do 3x 6990 16x (16x 8x 4x on our current setup) and it will at at damn near triple the rate that one card would run on. I dont have any hard numbers to post unfortunately since I...
Yes for us it would be faster we are sure.
for bitcoin we were reading this table on their site for the 6990 info.
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison
Yes we were pricing out what a 4x video cad rig would cost and since we can already source components like hard drives that we have laying around the 2x rigs would be more reasonable.
On the quad core when I started researching this people were running 2x 6990 or 4x 6950with a simple 3ghz...
Before working here I only ever built a couple of servers and mostly gaming computers but i'm behind the times with the high end stuff. What is a 2500k?
You would think this being the case but we looked up benchmarks for software that uses this Streak SDK such as Bitcoin or folding and a 6990...
I'm tasked with building a computer for ATI Stream based applications and was wondering if its possible to use 4x6990 in one computer and what minimum I would need for processor?
The application we are using only cares about the GPU, for example on our 2x6970 computer this will be the bigger...
How do I know which it is?
Maybe it is getting too hot, on stock settings its 91 C when its at 99% activity
Whats weird is that in a benchmarking utility I use if it put it at 900 mhz for core I get ~365 Mhash/s then any higher it gets lower like at 925 it is ~355. I dont know what this...
