Well, the sales on the Corsair website has been HUGE lately due to the shortages at Newegg and Amazon. They simply don't have the manpower to process and ship so many orders. I've been told the quantities ordered exceed typical Black Friday - Christmas sales.

Because it might not be the PSU. If a PSU is overloaded, detects a short, has a voltage drop, etc. it shuts off. It doesn't "make your game go to a black screen". That's why I asked for more information.

What UL, CB, CE, TÜV, Ecova, etc. when they certify a PSU is the label. Not the box. Not a manual Not marketing, but the label on the unit itself. The label is what they go by. The label is what a reviewer should go by.

Exactly. We can get "decent" units from manufacturers all day long. The volume is in PSUs like this one because they meet a certain price point at retail where, as you put it, Joe Average might drop in to shop in a pinch.

The scoring shouldn't be the only page read in the review. Irritates the fuck out of me when someone reads the intro and the conclusion and nothing in between, but it happens all the time.

Which is it? Reboots or shuts down? If it reboots, I seriously doubt it's the PSU. More likely RAM or a problem with the motherboard. Any decent PSU will shut down COMPLETELY (no reboot) if there's a fault detected (drop in voltage, over load, etc.

Yep. Problem is, people don't "expect" high end PSUs to be as expensive as they are. Also, people's standards for PSU performance is much higher than it used to be 5 years ago. The reviewers have been a lot tougher on the manufacturers than they used to be.

Yes... but that also brings up a good point. Huntkey has one of the most advanced PSUs factories I've seen in China. And most of the work is done in house. PCB, SMT, making the cables, housings, etc. They even have all of the EMI and noise testing facilities in house. AND A PING PONG...

Warm, but not 45°C, which is the temperature Paul tests at. The PSU is advertised as being rated at 40°C. Also, the PSU doesn't "crap out". The problem would be that the PSU would shut off before the fan turns on, which is a major issue, but is wouldn't be considered "crapping out".

Why "WTF GREATWALL?!"? Review samples are floating around. I suspect in two to three weeks we should see some reviews pop up. Right now, our PSU review queue is backed up. Jeremy just finished up doing the RM Series this week while everyone else had their reviews published a month ago. :p

It's just not that cost effective to make PSUs that are that low wattage. You essentially end up with a lower wattage for the same cost as the higher wattage unit. As for efficiency at <100W, Ecova is actually certifying PSUs with 10% efficiency as well since 4/2012. Also, a lot of reviewers...

For the last few years, pretty much all desktop PSUs are made in China. The only exceptions are a couple companies that make server PSUs and medical PSUs. Some of those are made in Taiwan and there's one company in India. But, as far as be Quiet goes, they're based in Germany.

More than a couple of months ago. ;-) CX was never Seasonic. VX was discontinued years ago. TX was Seasonic two generations ago (then CWT, then Chicony). And only first generation HX was Seasonic. They're all CWT now (couple years).

I'm familiar with the problem and the cause. And you're correct. YOU have no idea how many are good vs. bad. But my analogy goes for almost anything made/sold on this planet. At any rate, Corsair's engineers have been on top of the problem lately, but I don't know if you'll see them...
