I was curious to know if anyone on the forum has a NEC P221W-BK. I have read some reviews and I know most here would never even dream of using a non IPS LCD, but I found that the NEC P221W-BK had what I was looking for performance wise. Here are some reviews:

I say that if you have work super hard to notice a potential screen issue, perhaps you should leave well enough alone. Why would you want to try various ways to see a screen anomaly? If you can't see it then it doesn't exist and you should be happy!

As I've stated I've witnessed the performance of the 193p+ first hand. I know what I saw. It also doesn't change the fact that the behardware view was NOT of the 193p+. It like me reading a review for a JVC television and using that review to justify negative comments made about a Panasonic. It...
Validation! I KNEW that the 193p+ was the best 19'' LCD on the market and now that there has been an acutal comparison I am even more sure. Right now the ONLY thing that the vp191b has over the 193p+ is price. But if price is your major concern there are plenty of super cheap LCDs out there that...
I played WoW, DOOM 3, HALO, HALF LIFE 2, Guild Wars, and Diablo 2. Maybe I just can't see the issues others are having, perhaps that is a good thing...

I guess mine must be defective because I have yet to experience any signifant blurring and I still think that behardware review should not be used to evaluate the 193p+. I know from MY experience there was a major difference between the 193p and the + model when it came to ghosting.

I had both the 193p and the 193p+ as well I and I remember significant ghost/blur on the normal 193p. I am very curious to know how you conducted your test.

This is an issue with MANY MANY LCD screens. Just looks like uneven lighting sometimes called backlight bleeding. I doubt you do much better if you did an exchange so I'd turn the brightness down a bit and play games with brighter colors.

I would have no issue with that standpoint if the Behardware review was of the 193p+, but it isn't. I don't care if they are using the same panel, if there are other differences in the way the panels are manufactured that could affect performance. There was a review of the Dell 2005FPW and the...
I don't have the Fujitsu-Siemens P19-2, I have the Samsung 193p+. The Samsung has NONE of the issues that were complained about in the review you posted, NONE. Besides I tend to go off my own personal impressions over a review. As far as I'm concerned the Fujitsu-Siemens P19-2 may have taken the...
How significant are the tails? I noticed a slight be of trailing when you have red on gray but I have not noticed it with other color combinations. LCDs are known to have a slower response than CRTs so perhaps the tail you see if a product of that. As I've started before I have really had no...
Unless the display was given to you free as a gift, there are no circumstances I would accept a dead pixel on my screen. You work hard for your money and the least you can do is get a non-defective device for it. A minor scrape on your pc tower or a scuff on your keyboard are trivial matters...
Haven't really tried it at 75hz and not really dying to know. Trying to take it easy on it and since I don't have any problems at 70 I'll stay there for now.

No one knows for sure. The 193p + isn't really widly available yet but on paper it would appear that the 193p+ has better contrast ratio, slightly higher viewing angles and a higher price tag. I have no complaints about my 193p+.

Well then my previous comments are withdrawn. I'm just glad to hear that your issue has resolved itself. I'd hate to think I was the only one who couldn't see this issue. Now I want to see some comparisons between this and the vp191b!

Looks like you owe someone an appology! :p Now turn to your 193p+ and tell it sorry! Make sure you let the people on Anandtech know that the issue you were having before seems to be gone and that the 193p+ is the bestest 19' lcd on the market today! Go GO!

AH! I didn't even consider that you didn't install the MagicTune software! That brings up an interesting point. If a panel gets adverse results when you fail install all of the software, is that a failing of the panel or of the person that didn't install everything? Its almost like me...
Yep I'm using 70hz refresh rate. It was originally at 60 but when I upped it to 70 I had no issues what-so-ever. I am currently at work but when I get home later I'll run a few more tests to see if I can see these so-called red trails. We'll see...

Figued I'd chime in with my impressions before this monitor gets a bad rep. I bought this panel last Thursday and have played several games on it. Games played: Halo, Doom3, Painkiller, WoW, Diablo 2, and Guild Wars. There is very little motion blur and to be honest I have not seen ANY red...
