desktops u can upgrade laptops not so much.. simple enough decision in my mind..
Turn off motion blur and all AA. then recheck your framerates (using Fraps) MSAA takes a huge hit on video cards in bf3. You should definitely overclock the processor. Simple enough to do just read up on a guide to overclocking your particular processor.

I like mine, went from a 1900x1200 to this, viewable area is definitely smaller, but it is great for games (120hz) and fine for surfing/email etc.. there are nicer 27s coming but they will be 3x the price.

I believe the top side cutout window is for 2x120mm fans of your choice,if you so choose. with 2 fans in there either normal or led fans i think it would look decent imo.. i may pick one of these up to replace my 832 stacker, which is nice but the build quality is not quite what i had hoped...
i would say with new games around the corner get the better video card you can afford within reason. the 4850 will run any game out now decent at that rez u may just have to tweak settings to get the fps you want, the same goes with the 4870. these cards will only drop in price in the next few...
If i go by your signature you are running 2gigs of ram, if you are using vista my 2c would be your need more ram. you are probably trying to run AOC at high settings with most things turned to full. try turning off bloom, what rez are you running the game at?
4gigs on vista is recommended...
