Well as far as i know using the DVI to HDMI adaper would be no good, as DVI does not carry audio... the adapter would not give the source DVI audio capabilities.

well i figured i was just going to plug it into my TV and it would output at least stereo through the two speakers on my TV. i dont intend to use it to play back music ect... i will assume by what you said i wont get 5.1 through the HDMI?
