Figured to post up my colo space too. Share the space with a friend and mine are the supermicro stuff at the bottom. about 450GB of ram total and 20TB of disk.
Yeah. Somehow my apartment is a Verizon black hole despite where I live so it helps with reliability on my Note 5. (wifi calling is pretty inconsistent too).
Finally got around to putting in my srx220 at home. Mainly so I can use it as the only switch and have site-site to my colo gear (fronted by a srx240). Not pictured is a UAP. Sadly I have to nat off the VZ router so my set-top boxes will play nice.
I would say that the backblaze numbers aren't accurate though. Desktop class drives aren't designed for server environments so their failure rate should be taken with a grain of salt.
That said, I have about 10000 enterprise class Seagate drives online at work and get less than a 1% failure...
Not to fret, I have since cleaned up the wires. They annoyed me too much.

This really comes down to what you want to spend. Driven by that would be how much traffic is being monitored and desired retention.
Doing things like a rotating tcpdump is possible sure, but interacting with that traffic is very cumbersome once say, you get an ids alert and have to find...
Office setup. Seems busy but works well for me.

In real world production. Usually do not want to go above a oversub rate of 4-8:1 Depends on the rest of the hardware.
In testing, use whatever you desire since ram is usually the limit.
