I'm 27643836% with you. My gut is telling me that it's time to build one. My main gripe is all we want to charge is our (insert flame war comment) Apple gear and I'd like to use our chargers for travel use. Bad news is from my research that the/our Apple gear has some pretty specific...
I do plan on installing the games to the HDD, especially since the unit as a whole apparently runs quieter when going from the HDD, and as it goes for all things running off of a drive, I assume things will load a bit quicker.
I am down for modding the thing, I like that idea of adding RAM...
The other day I ordered a 360 from Microsoft ExpertZone and I'm going to assume it's not a Jasper chipset. I also have ordered another shell off of eBay so I can paint the shell to match my PS3 (I don't think white is going to cut it for me). At any rate, I'm going to have the bastard open...
I was able to keep the PC up all night without a single HDD connected to it.
Here are the specs:
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
AMD 3800+ X2
Kingston Value RAM
BFG 600W PSU
BFG 7800GTOC
Maxtor HDD's SATA and PATA
Random DVD optical drives
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
Randomly the other day, my PC just shut off my itself. I dunno what the hell happened, it wasn't power outage related. So I do the normal troubleshooting, taking everything down to a bare bones system (mobo, cpu, video, memory) and it seems to work. As soon as I add any hard drives the system...

Ahh, the trials and tribulations of running your own board....I sympathize. I even tried to bypass with direct url ;)
well, I'm really fucking irritated but this is what we ended up doing.
1. Dropped in 98EXL's WinXP Unattended build CD
2. Popped in MSDN disk, installed 2k3 from XP
I don't like it, but whatever, it's temporary

I have a Win2K3 STD R2 box that I want to do some testing on, and I can't get a damn CD-R to boot.
It specifically states on the DVD that it itself is bootable, and would give me some sort of menu and I could install the OS from there. The other thing is that there are supposed to be ISO's...
I got it to power on long enough to find the problem....chipset fan was at low RPMs and I blew the dust out of it, and pointed a 120mm fan towards it....all is good now
It was a classic case of futzing with it, and having a buddy of mine on the phone and bitching about it, and she...
I unplugged all of my HDD's today to use a seperate HDD to rebuild a 64-bit system for a short time to get my 'My Documents' on my external USB HDD
See this thread for details on this problem:

When I booted the system up, it hung on...
I know if you had a awesome remote, like an RTI remote, it would work flawlessly. But I don't know if a 'Universal Remote' brand learning remote would do it or not. I bet if I asked my Dad I could stop by his place and try it out
Quick question everyone:
Q: Will U320 drives work fine, even if they dumb down to U160, on a U160 controller; Yes or No

we all know that when you buy software, you are mainly paying for the license to run it. The media is the cheapest part of the entire price. Since I have the license, I was only wondering if they would sell the media....I mean come on, it probably cost them not even $1 a disc to burn and print...
