I already installed Windows 8 in normal mode.
Can I still have it boot in UEFI mode without reinstalling or reformatting my SSD disk?
It has that 350mb partition created by installer.
Note: I still haven't flashed the BIOS of my nvidia card, EVGA emailed it to me.
If I'm not using the processor's built-in GPU, should I disable it?
Does it generate heat?
Do I have to install the latest GPU drivers for the motherboard just to be on the safe side?
THanks.
greetings,
I recently installed Windows 8 64 successfully on my new p8z77-v lk motherboard.
Everything is working fine.
I wonder if I should install the drivers available in Asus website.

Or are Microsoft Windows 8...
it's really frustrating trying to use this new technology.
anyway, I'm going old school and installing windows 8 on my SSD without any UEFI...
I guess I'll have to study this subject a lot more.
greetings,
I'm struggling to install windows 8 in UEFI mode on my asus p8z77-v lk motherboard.
I updated the BIOS to the latest version, that is 0908.
I have this USB stick that was created with that Windows 8 USB tool, it has the Windows 8 installer.
I can't seem to boot into the USB stick...
The partition creation part isn't clear.
When I first install Windows 8, do I have to create a special partition under Advanced Options?
I'm concerned with SSD alignment.
What are the cons of using Secure Boot?
For example, if I wish to install a Linux system on a spare partition, would Secure Boot allow another boot partition?
Greetings,
As you can see in my sig, I'm running two 2Gb sticks of Mushkin pc1600.
I'm planning on upgrading to the following
Asus P8Z77-V LK
i7 3770K
gtx 690
Windows 8 64
I'm not planning in getting new RAM yet.
Will the two mushkins do fine?
I'm not planning on aggressive...
Please elaborate on the above statement.
If 750W is more than enough, why wouldn't an old design provide the necessary power to hungry components? :D
For example, a GTX 690 needing 400W @ full stress. Why would a newly designed PSU be better?
Thanks for the input.
What PSU you recommend?
Budget is around $130.
Note: I chose the GTX 690 to keep things simple inside, not a big fan of SLI taking too much space inside the Mb. So decided to spend a bit more...
Btw, the case is an Antec P182.
Thanks!
Greetings,
I have a PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad 750W.
I plan on using it to feed an i7 3770K and a GTX 690, with very basic overclocking.
Will it be enough?
I am assuming it will make it.
Thanks.
They're working.
2 x EVGA 8800 Ultra
I live in Toronto.
I'm not sure how much to ask, but any offer is welcome.

It is driving me nuts.
Everything works fine, suddenly the network connection drops. No error message, nothing. Limited Connectiviy. It seems to happen if I close down uTorrent, it really annoys me.
It's not the wireless router (WRT54GL), because a laptop next to me is always connected...
I have an q6600, 2gb and an 8800ultra leftovers from my last upgrade.
I wish to build my second rig for HTPC only, no gaming or OC.
I wanna go cheap on the case and power supply.
Any suggestions?
Is that right?
