You should exercise your consumer rights to return for a replacement or a refund. You should not be expected to put up with a squeal when you use the computer either because of GPU folding, high FPS during movies or menus, or high settings in the game. Not really. It is just a "Full HD" fad in the cheap LCD monitor market. Laptops will most likely be 16:10 in the future due to their size, and enthusiasts will always leave a market for 1200.
