Don't you get delay with a SLI setup too, so vsync isn't much different on your setup? I'm not sure... I play without vsync and frame limiters. I don't notice tearing at all, but really notice input lag and if fps dips below 120-100.
I have a single gtx 680 and catleap 1440 120hz. Brutal doom...
Hi!
On a 120hz monitor, I noticed Windows 8.1 x64 RTM has very poor window movement compared to 8 x64. It makes the OS feel kinda sluggish compared to 8. Has anyone else noticed this?

If you have a 120hz monitor, only IE10 is butter smooth at both scrollbar scrolling and mouse wheel scrolling. I prefer other browsers than IE so I hope to create some mind-share about this.
I used a 120hz monitor and a 120fps camera to enhance the difference...
I get a message "unable to write file" if I fill the drive I am testing up with rar files. If I set the Total Length to 16MB it runs, and creates a benchtst.$$$ in the root folder, that is as big as the Total Length setting, 16MB in my case. CHKDSK /r and integrity check of the rar files...
Isn't it so that dual-link DVI is only limited by the quality of the cables and interfaces? There are no upper bandwidt(Single link) 3.96 Gbit/s
- (Dual link) Limited only by copper bandwidth limitations, DVI source limitations, and DVI sync limitations.h limit, which is why we can overclock...
Talking about niche products, I think most people can benefit from 120hz and the improvements in cursor presicion and window animations. Keep enlihhtening people, maybe there will be a kickstarter program that combines 1440p, IPS, zero input lag, 27" and 120hz+ in one package. For now we only...
Hi!
I find Steam UI not very responsive. I compared to Origin, and I wonder if there are anyone else with the same issue?
Here is a video of this issue:

I think 120Hz is next to eyefinity in gaming improvement. When the fps reaches 100+, there is an amazing solidity and 3d-like quality to the gameplay. It applies to the desktop experience as well. I'd rather have slightly less shadows and AA and 120fps than 60fps...
This is interesting. I'd love to see another source dig into this, pherhaps dailytech? And how about PC games sales, did they stay the same, too? I hear the worst is when the games drm is defeated right away and the game gets a zero day warez release, lots of lost sales.
Sorry for the rant, I...
It seems to be the power hungry graphics that begun with gtx 8800 that is stressing the PSU making its coils whine. Some PSU are immune to this abuse it seems, while certain 3d cards have been provided with extra power regulators to to even the load.
I exchanged the Mist 650W Rev. 4.0 with a...
I thought I'd update this thread with my latest finding.
I exchanged the Mist 650W Rev. 4.0 with a Corsair AX850 and my brother bought a Corsair AX650 to his new sandy bridge pc.
Corsair AX850
Is completely silent during ati tool, folding at home, crysis menus and other games.

It's not just fps games that benefit 120hz. Your desktop gets much smoother and the cursor become very responsive and precise. This also applies to RTS and bird-eye view RPG games; even if the framerate is staggering along at 30fps (c&c3) the mouse is drawn to a different buffer that updates at...
Aye.. my old samsung dvd writer also lost its ability to write. It makes funny swirling noises when i try to burn something. Reading is still fine!
On a related note, I can't find reviews of Bluray drives anywhere. I'm after something that sounds solid and with sleve-bearings.
I would rather buy a lg w2363d since it has better black levels. It is nice to see what happens in the shadows and other dark areas in games and movies.
www.flatpanelshd.com/review.php?subaction=showfull&id=1280136712
They both have zero input lag though.
I have played quake 3 arena with an lg w2363d at 120hz/120fps and it was just as smooth, solid and blur free as my current lacie electron blue22 iii crt monitor. I did not do a direct side-by-side comparison at that time, but i am very sensitive with framerate and blur.
The "3d ready"...
You are demonstrating your own ignorance! It is the path to the dark side. We must not forget, not chill until the makers clearly know our demands. The market is their playground, but our responsibility.
That's why we must enlighten everyone we possibly can about the benefits of high PPI :D
Let your friends compare an iphone 4 to an older phone. I've tried to make my homepage benefit from high-dpi with CSS vector graphics, high res logo and high res thumbnails scaled down in the HTML tags...
I know! Who need more than 640k, anyway?
Seriously, text looks much better on my 140PPI crt monitor (1800x1350 @85hz) than a 96PPI LCD. If LCD had higher ppi, scaling up old games would look much better.
How about a 3D monitor for 120Hz gaming? The lg w2363d seems to be the best of the bunch with zero input lag, good black levels and no sharpening issues.
Me too!
btw movies are not really 24fps, they are 23.976. that should make the playback judder every eight minute on a 120hz display? hmm i dont know how to calculate that :o
- What happens when you try to play 23.976 fps content on a display that refreshes itself 24.000 times per second...
If you want 16:10 1920x1200 or higher res I suggest you request it from the manufacturers themselves as it seems they think the everybody only want 16:9. So far only there exist only 1920x1080 3d monitors. If you want any other properties ask them about that too, like zero input lag and RGB Led...
Hi! I returned it and they are replacing it with a PSU of my choosing if I pay any difference in price. I have ordered the Corsair AX850W since it is so high quality, but I have found that even Corsair HX850W are reported squealing.

Puh this got me worked up. If you guys really want a 24" 16:10 IPS 120hz monitor with zero input lag, maybe it would help if we actually told them to make one :D
Wouldn't it arrive here if it's true 120hz
http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-requirements.html
Would IPS make the vertical viewing angles better? I've only seen side view examples, none vertical. I tried a lg w2363d and the vertical viewing angles was so poor it was hard to watch a movie.
Hi!
lg w2363d have good black levels and zero input lag. The other options have over sharped text (acer) bad black levels so you cannot distinguish whats in the shadows (asus and benq). I tried a lg w2363d and it had horrible vertical viewing angle. At top of the display I could not see what...
PowerDVD interpolates the frames if you play DVD movies, but not on HD content. This works OK-ish as far as I can tell. NVIDIA purevideo is supposed to make 24fps film smooth, but I dont know if that works with 3d movie playback. I understand your concern, I tend to get PAL DVD videos because...
Me too ^
tried a lg w2363d for a weekend and the vertical viewing angle made me strain my eyes when I tried to see what was on the top shelves in a dungeon (metro) in fallout 3. But the 120hz on the desktop and in quake 3 was very nice i probably will buy one end of this year. wonder how fast...
Here is a news article about the issue, it is power regulator interference from the graphics card that make the PSU squeal? Or in some cases is the 3d card squealing? It would be nice to see reviews of 3d card and psus go into this issue, but I haven't seen it been mentioned in any of the...
Do you have the N470GTX Twin Frozr II or the "more stock" one? An european version or the pherhaps USA version? N470GTX-M2D12 vs N470GTX-M2D12-B. I guess it does not matter since they all say SSC (Solid State Chock) for No Buzz noise on msi website.
Anyone have the GTX 570 and does it squeal...
Oh no, please keep the reports coming.
I got a evga 470 012-P3-1470-ER as they didn't have a MSI, but it is squealing just as much as if not more than the xfx gtx 285. I'm going to contact them and see if they would start selling the MSI one and refer to this thread.
My EVGA GTX 470 012-P3-1470-ER is squealing too. It was replacing a xfx geforce gtx 285 that was squealing. I'll send it back and see if I can replace it with a msi gtx 470 they are supposed to not squeal due to SSC (Solid State Chock) for No Buzz noise...
You should exercise your consumer rights to return for a replacement or a refund. You should not be expected to put up with a squeal when you use the computer either because of GPU folding, high FPS during movies or menus, or high settings in the game. Teach the card manufacturers that squealing...
Interesting. The xfx GTX 285 I had was pretty quiet, I could just barely hear it squeal/whine originally. But I got a different PSU, and then it got very noisy. It is not fan noise; the xfx 285 was watercooled. The first PSU was a MSI 650W rev 3.3, the second was a MSI 650W rev 4.0. The major...
Hi!
I have returned my GTX 285 because it squeals, and they will replace it. I'd like a GTX 470, but I don't want one that squeals, buzz or whine during heavy load, ATI tool, GPU folding or high FPS. I am thinking about electrical noise (coil noise?) not fan noise as it will be watercooled...
I have just sent back a GTX 285 that started to squeal when I changed my PSU. I changed the PSU from a Mist 650W rev 3.3 to a Mist 650W rev 4.0. The only difference I know of those is that the rev 3.3 had four 20A 12v rails while the 4.0 had one 50A 12v rail.
I could hear the squealing with...
Hmm doesnt seem like my dtek gpu block from GTX 285 would fit. 61mm mounting holes vs 58.4mm on the 480/580

Not really. It is just a "Full HD" fad in the cheap LCD monitor market. Laptops will most likely be 16:10 in the future due to their size, and enthusiasts will always leave a market for 1200. And the PC platform changes fast, games and apps will always have to be able to handle various resolutions.
I'm in the same sitation, looking for a 24" 16:10 lcd monitor for my brother for Christmas.
@vshin
There is a new 24" 1920x1200, the Samsung 2443DW, so the 16:10 isnt dead yet. It even have height adjustment. If you want a 1920x1200 monitor, send an email to the manufactorers and suggest it...
