Because just maybe some of us don't want to bother with all of the issues you can experience with multi monitor setups, such as bezels, multi display calibration, GUI scaling in games, among many other things.
I prefer one large monitor over several smaller ones.
So it isn't 144hz? Big deal. I still think 75hz is impressive, but then again I'm one of those that doesn't find 60hz to be a deal breaker either.
I'm considering this as a replacement for my U3011, but I'm concerned that I would miss the vertical real estate.
The September release date...
Gotta love First World Problems. I for one don't really care how it looks - I care how it functions.
I'm tempted to get a Nexus 10 because it looks to be an awesome tablet.
You guys are hilarious! How about we all wait for the ACTUAL announcement before getting all down on something you don't even know the final details on!
Being a Verizon customer I'm not exactly thrilled by this. I have the Fascinate (Galaxy S) and while I really like it I could use some additional horsepower in my next phone.
My partner has the Droid Charge and while it is a nice phone (the 4g, while a battery drainer, is blazing fast) it...
They're not for me. The hardware is great but the software and the company itself - not so much.
I've used OSX and can testify that it is no more or less stable/fast than Windows 7 (or previous versions of Windows). I don't like the interface that much, and I've given myself plenty of time...
I tried that a little bit ago and got the same error. I created a System Repair CD using another PC with Windows 7 SP1 on it and got the error again. I beginning to suspect I'm getting the error because my Windows installation isn't being properly detected by the CD.
I have another HDD that...
I only have the existing 300GB Velociraptor, so I'm not facing any large disk issues.
There isn't an option to disable S3 and I think the error code is a red herring anyways.
The Windows Boot Manager (UEFI) was something that magically appeared after starting the Windows installation when...
EDIT: I was able to resolve my issue by connecting another hard drive I had. This finally allowed to UEFI boot my DVD drive and after running a Startup Repair on my existing Windows installation the Windows Boot Manager (UEFI) appeared and I was able to boot Windows.
I just installed my B3...
Dragon Age 2 is basically Mass Effect in the Dragon Age universe. It plays similarly, so some people who loved the first one are really going to be turned off this release because of that.
I loved Dragon Age: Origins, and I can tell from the bit I have played I will love Dragon Age 2 as...
You're obviously not the target market for these displays. They have significantly more real estate than a 1080P one and they do make great gaming displays as well.
OP, thanks for the post regarding the deal.
I would have to respectfully disagree and say that it is a great mouse for me. I have two - one for my desktop and one for my laptop.
This is a heck of a deal - the lowest price I've ever seen for it.
Look for your errors in %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. It is more verbose and can help you find something that doesn't show up in the System Update Readiness Tools log.
I can't really blame Microsoft on this one. From my experience it is third party tools, software, or drivers themselves that...
I've taken the time to zip and upload the necessary files for those of you that are receiving the 0x800f0826 error when installing Windows 7 SP1 due to missing ATI or NVIDIA driver files in the Windows directory.
Please note that I offer NO SUPPORT for these files and you are using them at your...
That is disturbing information regarding the possiblity of ATI deleting those files during an uninstall.
If you want the exact directories to copy to I can provide those when I get home later, as I don't have a Windows 7 system available right now.
@slingshot
Have you looked at your errors in %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log?
It isn't the easiest log to read, but can help you iron out what is causing your installation issue. Its how I found the fix for mine.
Also, did you try the System Update Readiness Tool? It creates a log file...
Its not just Driver Sweeper - Driver Cleaner is affected as well. I've never run Driver Sweeper but own Driver Cleaner .NET and I ran into the same issue.
To those of you that are receiving the 0x800f0826 error, have an ATI gpu and are using Driver Cleaner or Driver Sweeper follow the link...
Let me correct myself in the fact that it seems to be Crucial SSDs that are having issues when coming out of sleep.
I have C3/C6 Reporting Enabled and sleep works fine for me.
I was able to get sleep to work just fine and am currently using it, but unfortuantely Internal PLL Overvoltage needs to be disabled. Apparently it is an Intel issue and there is no word on when/if it will be fixed. More info:

To get Sleep to...
I'm not experiencing any issues with custom color mode either, and that is the only mode that I use. In fact, all 4 of the U3011 displays I have tried (3 with dead/stuck pixels and went back to Dell) were just fine in custom color mode.
I do have to note that I turn my display off each day...
While it is occasionally sluggish, overall I love my Samsung Fascinate (Galaxy S Verizon). I think that Android is a great platform that will continue to get better as time goes on.
Add me to the list of people that doesn't fine the Mac Pro case to be attractive at all, and I love silver aluminum cases.
I find my Silverstone Temjin TJ09 (and high end Silverstone cases in general) to be far more attractive cases.
I'm a gay guy that also thinks this is a completely stupid idea.
How does this add any value to the Internet? Where do we stop with the ridiculious domain adds?
I hope you realize that DA:O PC has DRM as well.
This type of system (DRM, CD Keys, etc) is coming to the consoles eventually, and in ways is already here. How do you resell your Live Arcade games? Publishers loathe the used game market, and will do all they can to eliminate it.
As for...
I'm a new Dell U3011 user and admit that the white glow and AG coating took a getting used to, as well as the drop in contrast from my S-PVA Dell 2709W. The screen uniformity has improved as newer 30" models have been released but still isn't perfect. I have a very slight increase in red on...
Like the others said, it is enough to run pretty much every game at 2560x1600 with no problems at all. For heavy hitters such as Metro 2033 and Crysis you can dial back the AA to get the frames up a bit.
No issues here. The only XFX motherboard I ever owned didn't exactly impress me and had several BIOS issues that were never resolved.
Hopefully you can find some sort of a fix for your issue.
I went from a 27" 16:10 display to a 30" and I can tell you the size difference is noticeable, but not as dramatic as I expected. I'm glad that I went the 30" route vs the 27" 16:9 route as the extra height is very beneficial.
Personally I went with a GTX 580 because I game at 2560 x 1600 and don't want to bother with SLI/Crossfire power requirements, driver issues, microstuttering, etc.
Sure, it is an expensive card, but it is very powerful. Also, those of you recommending that you overclock a 6950 forget that...
The lag is measured at 24.4ms according to this review so I wouldn't be concerned about the increase from the HP ZR30w. I prefer having the scaler and menu that the U3011 offers anyways.
I got it at the 30% deal a few weeks ago and am loving the purchase.
While I don't have any practical experience with this particular monitor I was basing what I said off of posts in this thread:

As far as I know there isn't a *VA panel that doesn't have some level of black crush. It is a symptom of that panel...
