Need suggestions for a 5.1 receiver

Thank you guys for the suggestions. I will look into each of those receivers. Just out of curiousity, do you guys happen to know of any balancing software that works like the Vista surround balancing application? I'm looking to see if just balancing what I have doesn't do the trick first.

Need suggestions for a 5.1 receiver

I'm currently working on replacing my Klipsch 2.1 Pro-Media speakers. I have come to a point where I would really like to have 5.1 sound and I recently got the HT Omega Striker 7.1 audio card which happens to have SPDIF out. What I was thinking of doing was getting some sort of receiver that...

    Post your HeadPhones!

eDimensional Audio FX Certainly not the best headphones in the world, but they get the job done and have very strong bass (the force feedback features helps a lot). They are a little rough in the high range but for the most part I have no complaints about them. They are very comfortable and my...

Lots of problems with SMP client and WIndows XP

thanks a bunch for the reply. I will definitely run memtest86 first when I get back...I didn't know sticks could actually be incompatible with each other...I always assumed if they were the same speed rating and could run in about the same timings range then they would be fine (eg: they both...

Lots of problems with SMP client and WIndows XP

Ok, so I just re-installed windows XP and installed all the updates and what have you, then I installed the FAH SMP client. Did the whole MPI thing and started up the client (no -forceasm flag) and it did all the normal stuff, downloading work units and I put in all the client info. Then it gave...

    The official "clean desktop" club.

I was actually at a car show that had that car there and I got to sit in it, GT3 RS is a BEAUTIFUL car! But here is my laptop, Ubuntu Linux running Gnome, XGL and Compiz-fusion along with AWN for the "mac bar", Desktop Drapes which changes my desktop background every 15 minutes and Dark-ICE GDM...

E4300 overclock, looking for some tips (maybe?)

Can anyone confirm that even though the BIOS supports a change in multiplier that the chip does as well? I'm updating my bios (just making sure it's the newest) and then I'm going to try jumping again to see if I can't get a successful boot at something above my current wall.

E4300 overclock, looking for some tips (maybe?)

Thanks for the reply, I am going to try some suggestions I got from a friend of mine and see if I can't get it stable at something above 400mhz. I apparently mis-read the article about the FSB hole and it includes 400mhz as well as around 375-380mhz so I am going to try 401mhz or something or...

E4300 overclock, looking for some tips (maybe?)

I see your point, but I have seen these chips go MUCH further then 400mhz at the FSB and the FSB (I thought) was more or less dependant on the motherboard and not the processor, the processor's default FSB is 200mhz, yes, however, that just means where they set it too to match up with the...

E4300 overclock, looking for some tips (maybe?)

That doesn't make any sense though, I lowered the multiplier so that a 400mhz FSB would only put the chip at 2.8Ghz because the multiplier was set to 7x...why won't it boot at that? That's my real question because all logic says that it should.

E4300 overclock, looking for some tips (maybe?)

Hey guys, I'm overclocking my Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 and so far have gotten it to 3.1Ghz stably. I was just wondering if anyone here has ever used the P5B-Deluxe or the 965 chipset and has any advice for me on how to go about it. Right now the setup is as follows: FSB: 345mhz Mult: 9x RAM...

FS: Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 8-Port SATAII Controllers

I tried looking them up on newegg, but I was wondering what RAID setups they are capable of doing. I'm looking to making a 1TB RAID5 array, but I need a card that can do RAID5 (obviously), this would be a great deal if they did that, could you specify what RAID types they can use, all I have...

Need ideas to get above 3.2Ghz

I loosened it up just to get the speed because I figured I could loosen all the way until I got what I wanted and then I can just tighten it back up once I have what I want. The RAM is at the lowest divider it can go to which is 1:1 unfortunately because it is a P5B which uses an older chipset...

Need ideas to get above 3.2Ghz

Ok, so, the rig that is in my sig is currently at 3.2Ghz stable at 1.4Vcore...I want it to run faster but I have a catch. I am only running it on DDR2-667 right now because I haven't had the money to order the actual RAM that is in the sig (though it will be there soon). Until then, I would like...

    Antec P180 Cooling Idea

That's a great idea, I'm going to have to give it a try on my P180. It runs so freaking hot it's not even funny. My opteron runs almost 10C cooler with the side panel off than with it on. I need to get a Scythe ninja first though...the Zalman on there now doesn't blow air the correct direction...

    Passively cool a P4 1.5ghz Willamette?

If you don't mind putting in a small fan, the Thermalright XP-120 or XP-90 might also suit your needs. If your limited on space, you may want to abandon the passive idea as passive requires a large heatsink to help disipate the heat, if your cramped on space, a slightly smaller heatsink with a...

    Overclocking Poject, E4300 craziness

Yup, RAM was still a factor in the OC. I tried upping the VDIMM to it's max of 2.45 and loosened the timings as far it would go without crashing and it's still a no go past 370. The only thing I can think of now is to remove the slower of the two DIMMs and run it that way with just a single...

    Overclocking Poject, E4300 craziness

Ok, I have hit the FSB hole now. The RAM may still be a factor in the limit of 3200mhz, but I'm thinking that if I try what others have said about lowering the multiplier and putting the FSB to 400mhzz may provide me with stability again. The only trick then is to make sure the RAM is happy at...

    WTB: innexpensive SATA hard drive

I just built a C2D system and I'm currently running it off of a 5GB IDE drive. My P5B only has 1 IDE channel and I already have 2 drives that are my backup drives that will be using it so I need a SATA drive. I'm only looking for about 80GB but if the price is right I won't turn down something...

    Overclocking Poject, E4300 craziness

Ok, with the new BIOS, 3050 is the highest on stock voltages it will go, but it's 12 hours orthos stable so that's pretty damn good, loading at 61C idle in the sub 50C range. I bumped the Vcore to 1.3500V and I now have it at 3.15 and so far so good, I think if this keeps up I may see 3.2-3.3...

    Overclocking Poject, E4300 craziness

Just found that my board was running BIOS 1101 and the most current is like 12xx so I updated that and the voltage control must be better or something on it because I am able to put it up at 3GHz w/ 1.3Vcore so I'm pretty happy so far with the new BIOS. The bottle neck of this computer now is...

    Overclocking Poject, E4300 craziness

ok, well, right now it's not at that. It got to that level around I think it was like 2.6GHz or something, now it's only at 355MHz which is still pretty good for cheapo RAM, it's starting to get unstable around 360-370MHz, so something with the bigger divider it has to use is making it less...

    Where to find S939 processors

I'm looking to extend the life of my 939 rig and eventually turn it into my LAN rig once I get my C2D system finished as my main desktop machine. E6600 36C on stock with Zalman 9700 and AS5

Coretemp if I remember correctly reads from the core diod as where other programs read from a diod under the chip on the motherboard. Coretemp does exactly what it says it does, give you a temperature at the core which is going to be a good few degrees warmer then say 10mm underneath the processor.

How to install custom NB coller on AB9 quad GT?

You could probably get away with taking the entire thing off to attach the new HS. I'm not sure about that exact motherboard but usually the mosfets don't really need huge heatsinks. I'm sure that the extra block is conducting mostly heat from the NB through that heat pipe. If you take the whole...

Need advice for NB cooling with Therlmarlight Ultra-120 Extreme

that would certainly increase overall airflow through the case, it is actually something I have been considering doing to my own case since I have 3 bays above my CD drive free. cant get over 400 with my p5wdh deluxe

ALWAYS use the latest BIOS unless there is a known issue with it that would hurt the performance of your overclock. What is the temperature of your NorthBridge, that could have something to do with it if it is hitting a wall. The other thing is is that it could just be that it is an Asus...

Need advice for NB cooling with Therlmarlight Ultra-120 Extreme

@rybeck Yea, your right, I don't think that the SLI version will fit either. It will "fit" but I don't think the cooling benefits would be apparent since it is so close to the other components in your case. The only solution that I can see here is either rotate your CPU hs or find another NB...

Need advice for NB cooling with Therlmarlight Ultra-120 Extreme

In my opinion and experience exhausting the heat from the CPU into the PSU has not done any harm nor do I believe it to do any harm to the PSU. It may adversely effect the amount of exhaust you can take out of the case, but at the same time if you have a rear exhaust fan it should compensate for...

Need advice for NB cooling with Therlmarlight Ultra-120 Extreme

I have to agree with the HR-05. It is the same thing that I am doing with the P5B-delux once I get it. The only thing is that you have to rotate the Ultra-120 so that the fans are horizontal instead of vertical, but if you have an exhaust fan on the top then you shouldn't have any problems and...
