I picked up an EVGA Superclocked GTX 980 AC2 from NewEgg last week. I was lucky as hell, it was actually in stock for like a minute.
Looking forward to owning an Nvidia card. Have owned AMD for seven years. Couldnt take it anymore.
I just wanted to put the clamps on some of the histrionics in this thread. Telling someone who has two computers mining " You're taking an awful big risk here " is just laughable, especially on a website where people drop thousands of dollars on computer parts to play video games.
If your mind is racing after a marathon gaming session thats the sign. You flood your brain with excitatory neurotransmitters, glutamate, norepinephrine and dopamine. A small percentage of people who have the potential to hallucinate could under such circumstances.
Its like my shrink says, if...
its well known that gaming and more importantly close proximity to a computer monitor while gaming for long stretches increases dopamine. People prone to psychosis could easily hallucinate as a result. This phenomena is well known in psychiatry and is due in large part to the stimulating effects...
Nvidia, Titan for over a grand..... No next gen console contracts, 290x for half the price ( on paper ) now Crypto currency....
They make great cards but AMD seems to be making smarts decisions and getting lucky, and luck is important..
I see Nvidia really over delivering on their next big thing.
I rma'd mine. Newegg giving a full refund. I picked up the new Sapphire instead. If Im spending $700 I'd like to at least know the product was designed properly.
I picked up one of these for $700. RMA'd the Gigabyte 290x Windforce.
Wouldn't be surprised if these hit $800. Its a $550 dollar card with an $80-100 cooler. I don't feel terrible about the purchase.
There's no build. Just swapping in the 290's. Built this rig over a year ago.
Watercooled i7 @ 4.9 , SSD, 8gB ram, a few case fans.
My math is telling me I should peak at around 800 watt. But what the hell do I know.
Naw. Tax deductable. But yeah $700. Figure if I got the reference card for $550 and bought an aftermarket cooler for $80 to $100 I'm in the hole $50 bucks give or take. Not the end of the world.
Ya could be waiting awhile if the crypto currency thing stays steady.
Just sold a year + old...
Its not overkill. For example, some of the ENB mods for Skyrim really put your GPU to the test, at any resolution.
With SSAO on I can barely get 30 fps @ 1080 with my favorite ENB.
Also, modded GTA V will be coming ( most likely )
I was under the impression Hyper threading generated more heat and could effect stability and possibly require more voltage? At 5+Ghz I figured turning it off would be advantageous. I also dont think anything I do actually uses hyperthreading save for maybe extracting archives. Mostly gaming and...
Just have the CPU looped atm. Ambient temp is hot as the AC is off but the weather is muggy.
2600k @ 4.9 1.37v HT disabled
Temps mid 60's Prime small FTT
Not sure if I am happy although the temps are 20-22c cooler compared to my previous air cooler. I think I will be able to get sub 60...
Is it possible to get buy with less voltage if cooling capacity increases?
Im currently at 1.38v CPU core. Im at 4.9Ghz stable. Using a CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ and getting prime temps maxed in the high 70's to low 80's. Its a hell of an air cooler for
$30. If I can decrease the temps with...
Had one ordered the moment they were available on Newegg. Order cancelled. I've seen one review that was positive. The rest of the reviews seemed lukewarm at best. Going to wait. I'll keep my intake fan for my H50 parked in front of the AC vent
Is it me or does the H50 seem on par with the H70? H50 stock is one fan right? Adding a second fan to the H50 would shave off almost enough degrees to even things up. I just don't see that much of a difference.
