Indeed. It does seem slow.
With my F3's in RAID 0 on my P5Q-E, the small (~100 GB) slice gets around 310 MB/s in HDTach. With 4x WD Blacks I would've expected something around 500 MB/s, at least.
I think the 8800GT's stock RAM speed is 900 MHz (1.8 GHz DDR), not a 1 GHz like you stated in the review.
Either that, or I misread the whole sentence.
Well, yes. But there are hundreds of other videocards with a single PCB, which can be watercooled. That way you would end up not loosing any SATA ports.
Anyway, I said the placement was interesting, not good. :p
Well, I'm specially interested in the X48's thermals. With that alu heatsink, I'd bet it will get really hot.
The SATA ports placement is interesting, I have to admit.
I just want to say: Accelero S1 rules. It's unbelievable.
I got mine today (finally) and installed it.
Temps with stock cooling were around ~55ºC idle - ~75ºC load (ambient temp ~25ºC).
Now, ~35ºC idle - ~45ºC load, same ambient temp. It's just amazing. :D
I do have a 120 mm AC fan @ 5v...
I have NO words to describe how FREAKING AMAZED I am at this point. :D
Luckily, my S1 should be arriving tomorrow. It'll be a bless for my poor 8800GT. :D:D
I know it might be a little selfish to ask you guys this, but, could you do a little quick test with the VF700Cu? I'd like to see if my current VF700Cu could do a better job than the stock cooler does (maybe it'll be useful to a lot of people too).
I mean, if you really can. If it's too much of...
Did I miss it or you never specified what were you using to measure the CPU temp?
EDIT: I think 0407 means "April 2007"
ED2: Nevermind, I found it. Nevertheless, I think you should have used CoreTemp 0.95.4.
I'm still amazed the HardOCP's review was the only one positive about the 8600 series. (I've read 3 or 4 so far...)
Either "it's okay", or "should be priced lower", or "not so shocking", etc etc...
I'm not criticizing you guys, it's just weird. Suddenly I don't feel so sure about HardOCP... :(
