    n00b SATA questions

I'm building a new box and for the first time I'll be using SATA drives. It will have 2 drives, a 150gb raptor (SATA150) & a 500gb barracuda (SATA 3.0 gb/s). Both drives are OEM and do not come with cables. Is there a preferred cable brand/type for SATA drives? Does cable insulation...

    Antec 900 or Antec p180

I had the same issue with my 900 (which I just got a week ago, for some reason CompUSA is still selling rev 1's). A few knocks with a hammer and a flat head screw driver the DVI cable connected fine. The VGA cable for my second monitor is very snug, but fit without any further "mods" needed.

This mobo seems to be very picky about...

    Building new machine

I'm not opposed to dropping down to a high end dual core, but the goal here is to build a box that will last more than 5 years, preferably 8 to 10, with minimal upgrading and minimal overclocking. Her old machine cost just over 4K, and was (near) top of the line when it was purchased (I didn't...

For her. I'll build my self a new machine around the end of the year (I've got an Athlon XP 2400+ based system that is still going strong).

    Building new machine

I've been tasked with building a new machine for my better-half. For a little background the system I will be replacing has been in service (with only 3 upgrades) since 1997. It's a P2/400. So what I'm looking to build is a machine with stability and longevity. Here is what I have already...
