Received mine today - Here is my mini review...
It's Rev. A02, made in China, manufactured August 2016, firmware M2C103
Calibration with an i1 DisplayPro resulted in the following things of interest:
White points for presets (D65/6502K is the sRGB standard, for reference):
Standard - 9915K...
Raja, have a question for ya on a Z87-Pro...
Under BIOS 1007 I was able to avoid the double cold booting/double-pumping/whatever you want to call it by enabling CPU Spread Spectrum.
Under BIOS 1205 I can't get it to not double cold boot. I've tried some of the other tricks mentioned with...
Won it at a LANFest and have no need for it...New in box!
$150, free shipping (CONUS). Specs are here:

With 2 in SLI running 702/1404/2448 (1224 DDR) I hit the mid 80s in with Crysis running 2560x1600 with all the eye candy...
The fans certainly kick up. From everything I've read, they can take it. The TDP is pretty high on these things...
If you are planning on ever gaming at 2560x1600, you need everything you can get. I have 2 GTX-280s in SLI at 2560 running 702/1404/2448(1224 DDR)...I can crank everything to the max in Crysis, but with no AA, and even there it dips below 30FPS...
Everything else is another story. It sails...
I'm surprised that the newegg reviews aren't terribly great for this PS. Based on the design, and the review here, it seems to be one of (if not) the best 800 watt PS there is right now...It does seem that there is a bit more of a reliability issue with it compared to others...
(mine still...
BTW, this PS is silent under normal loads. When gaming with my SLI'd GTX-280s, it makes an audible click (presumably a relay) and the fan kicks up to full speed. It isn't annoyingly loud, but it becomes noticeable...Thus, there appears to be 2 modes - Low speed (which may be variable speed, I...
Mine is still chugging along running a 790i, 2 Velociraptors, 4 gigs DDR3, 2 burners, OC'd Q9450, and SLI'd GTX-280s...
Sure runs nice and toasty when gaming..Almost feels like a hair dryer...
I can't believe the price drop on this thing. I think I paid around $200 when it first came out...
One important thing often overlooked in these reviews/notes is that in the end, it is still a beautiful display to look at and work with. I stuck with my second monitor (you'll see parts of my posts in the original post) and have been happy since. Gaming is incredible, SV-II works nicely, and...
I'm the one that posted the images of that on here! I'm on my second display now, which isn't as bad as the first when it comes to the striping, but it's still there if you really look for it...Do later production models not have this at all? Maybe I need display #3...
Good summary of the other options (being a lot more expensive but nicer) - I lucked out and got the 3090 for $1699 from B&H during one of their show specials, so that at least makes me feel better...Overall I'm happy with it. Even with sRGB mode not being all that great, I've done quite a bit...
I think people are looking for absolute perfection with this monitor, which it isn't, but it's certainly a high quality professional display whose calibration features are right up there with the best...
It isn't as bad as the picture - The background on Photoshop (of all things) is where it is most noticeable, but it has to be empty, and you have to be looking for it. The second monitor I received was much better with the striping, but it's still there...
It appears that you are correct - Here is the email I received from NEC:
I checked the production data and you received one of the best panels
screened from the manufacturer.
The panel manufacturer is aware of these issues, and we are
double-screening all of the panels we receive to...
I received my new monitor today from NEC. Bad news is that it's pretty much the same. Certainly not as "stripy" looking as the first, but it just shouldn't be this way. I took a pic of a Ben-Q 24" (A-MVA panel) that I have, and it is perfectly uniform, with the exception of dark corners...
Albovin, VERY nice review - You obviously put a lot of time into that...
I have a bit more (sad) info for anyone who may own this display, or is considering getting one. I can't say if this problem existed from the start and I just didn't notice it due to the awe of the display itself, or if...
EVGA sent an email saying "Save up to $$ - Check evga.com June 3rd 2008", referencing the 8800GT, 9800GTX, and 9800 GX2..
June 3rd is also the start of Computex, where the 2xx may be "officially" seen...Reports are already coming out since it's the 3rd there already...
I've noticed a **tiny** bit of backlight bleed that I didn't have before that popped up at the top. Simply pressing on the panel in different spots can change the location or make it go away completely. It's obviously not noticeable at all on anything other than solid black, and since my panel...
I thought that most backlight bleeding issues were from fitment/alignment problems between the panel itself and the case. Obviously not all though, if the 100% brightness is working to correct it...
The i1/SV is not useful in determining what the display is doing in relation to the panel itself lowering brightness (in that you just don't need it). It's obvious at what point the panel is kicking in to block the backlight, based on how the OSD works, the apparent brightness of the OSD itself...
That's amazing that the 100% backlight thing did anything...I wonder why that is...
Albovin - Please stop commenting in this thread if you don't have anything useful to say. Myself and others in this thread have spent a lot of money on this display and are trying to share information among...
I'll play with ECO mode and see what I find. It's easy to tell what it's doing because the OSD retains the brightness level of the backlight, regardless as to what "blocking" it's doing...
The response time setting baffles me as well. Makes no sense that it's defaulted to off and buried in...
I may have not been clear on the "pink" issue. If you lower the brightness on the OSD, it stops (until you attempt to lower it again) at 277 (or 70something percent if you are in a mode that is displaying it that way). The displayed number itself is what turns pink, indicating that you are...
Terranaut - I PM'd you my order number from B&H - Did they ever hook you up with that deal? And mine doesn't squeal...I'm beginning to feel very lucky with what I got!
I'll assume that you are referring to me. If you read my post carefully, you would see that the i1 would be useless in this scenario. For your benefit, I'll explain it again, and perhaps a little differently:
-The monitor controls brightness in two ways - One is through the actual dimming...
Can you take a picture of what you are seeing with the backlight bleeding? I want to check mine out again, but I'm almost sure that I don't have any issues...
As far as the brightness issue, you can tell when it stops lowering the backlight because the brightness stops at 277 (estimated on...
I would think the answer is yes. You can calibrate it to both D65 or 6500K, and gamma 2.2. More importantly, you can load and calibrate it to a custom gamma curve (not just 2.2) with Spectraview II, which I would guess would get rid of the wide gamut. The predefined custom options are sRGB...
Black starts turning white (or "glowing" as was previously mentioned) when you are off angle with this monitor. You have to be pretty far off though, so I'm not sure that it would ever be important for most users...
