I just got my Heatsink/Fan replacement from XFX. It only took a week and it arrived via FedX Ground JSYK...I'm so happy they just sent me that instead of having to RMA the card.
@Banzai
*UPDATE* I just received this update from XFX and thought I'd pass it on...
"[ERIK_A 9/14/2010 9:49:48 PM] I will have one of those Fan/Heatsink assemblies sent out to you, should go out with tomorrow`s shipments. - Erik"
I'm a happy customer ;) ...I was worried at first, but...
The fan itself stopped working. Only 3 screws hold it on the heatsink and it's very easy to remove/replace. I only asked for fan, but I'm not sure exactly as of yet what they plan on sending out. If they send me just the fan I'm good and if they send the entire heatsink/fan combo I will just...
It looks like XFX is sending me a new fan, so overall I'm okay with the experience so far. But the first generic response had me concerned. I will post update when the fan arrives.
I'm dealing with them now. I have a XFX 4890 and my fan stopped working yesterday. So far I'm not impressed... I've had the card for 11 months, so I can't just take it back to Best Buy and swap it for a new one(They don't carry them anymore either BTW) Here is the transcript from the help desk...
I have one, that came off of a X1900XT, replaced it with the AccereloX2, only used it for about a month and my warranty expired for the card, so I don't need it anymore... Make an offer for it....
WTT 1 gig (2x512mb) of Kingston DDR400 Ram or buy an AGP Video card. Will consider all offers, but would like to get something at least as good as a GeForce 6600GT.
Dude you just got the wrong 8800 with the crap cooling solution. I can't even hear the MSI 8800GT with the Zalman HS/Fan and It runs low to mid 60's at full load.
Update...They are going to cross ship me a working card. I hope they get it right, because the deal I got isn't so good anymore and it's been 24 days since I ordered the card and have yet to receive a working card.
Well I got my RMA back today and I'm not happy. The Card did the same thing it was doing before. Little dots on the screen when I boot up and then it locks up after I install the drivers and freezes. I sent it back to MSI on 4/8/08 and got it back today 4/22/08. I got home 30 minutes after MSI...
Over the last year 1/2, I've bought 4 open box items 2 motherboards(both good) and 2 video cards(1 good 1 bad). So there is risk involved, but newegg would have refunded the money and the cost of shipping if I wanted that. I really wanted the card though so I called MSI(brand of Video Card) and...
I have and it went just fine, but you must send them your original receipt with the card or it's nogo or it was back then. It's been a few years since then (2003). I had a GeForce 4 4200 TI 64meg card that went bad. They sent me back a refurbished GeForce 4400 TI 128meg card. It was a nice...
No It wasn't like that. I just got it and loaded the driver up(so far so good) and then I went to play crysis. I got to the beach and it froze and when it rebooted it had little dots in a pattern all over the screen and would not boot to windowsXP. I could get into safe mode and I was able to...
Has anyone here dealt with MSI Support(I'm a first time MSI buyer). I got a MSI 8800GT OC that died on me. They granted my RMA request and said that once they got my old card I should get one sent back to me in 7-10days (plus shipping time I assume). I did call them and I didn't have to hold...
I also have an e6400(DS3 P965 r3.3) and I got it to 3Ghz and don't use a NB fan but my CPU heatsink/fan has fins that deflect air to blow on it. The thermal paste used on the NB isn't always applied evenly and that could be part of your problem too. If you have some good thermal paste you might...
He is working on something that matters to all of us US residents...(Our Safety) ...He works for a major defense contractor(for the USA) :D ...But I assure you, he's great at his job...
I'm not afraid of a command line(used dos back in the day), but I don't know the language of Linux:), so Ubuntu seems to be what I'm going to do. I have booted Ubuntu from a cd before, just messing around...
I thought as much, not the end of the world, but a big PITA....I'll manage, just will be more time consuming moving my stuff to my other drives and freeing up space to move the stuff. Thanks for your reply...
I am talking about using unused space from disks (2) in a raid zero and use the free space to make a new partition without affecting my other data that is on the Raid0 array.
Yea we're both in that age range, but what makes this odd to me is that he's a gamer and has this chip. I'm more of a hardware nerd I guess, but I read about what I might buy for a weak in advance before I make a purchase, unless I'm very familiar with the hardware in advance and I usually am.;)
Well I don't want it to be too easy, because I want to learn the ins and outs of Linux and Ubuntu does seem to be the way to go because of the forums that [ T ] A C O mentioned. I will check out Envy though. Thanks guys great info...:D
I have 2 SATA2 hard drives in a raid0 config and want to know if it is possible to make a partition on it using the free space available on the drive without affecting the data on the drive right now. I've done this with Partition Magic before on a single drive without a problem, but not with 2...
Well I'm using an ATI x1900xt and have heard the ATI Linux drivers aren't that great, but I know they did release a new set last month and that there are some open source ATI drivers too.
What Linux distro would you guys recommend for a first time Linux user? I'm mainly going to use it to learn about Linux, but will be playing ET: Quake Wars with it also. I've very open to start using it for a lot of things, but I'm sure I'll still be using XP32 and Vista64 too(because I'm a...
I'll pass that on to him. A mutual friend of ours is going to get one this week and we've all be comparing MBs,CPUs, PSUs and stuff(we're all PC guys). That kind of blew me away when I heard that he said that though.
I did just find this at cnet in the second paragraph...
This is the deal, I have a friend that thinks an Intel quad core CPU that runs at 2.4Ghz is the total Mhz of all four cores added together. That's right, he thinks each core runs at 600Mhz. Here's the thing, He's like an IT guy and I need hard proof for him to believe that he's wrong. So if...
Thanks Man, I might get this one for myself, I read a great review about this card at tweaktown(low noise/great cooling).
