On Craigslist two computers - Lenovo Thinkstation workstation PCs with Intel Xeon E3-1230 processor, 150 GB raptor drive, 16 GB DDR3 ECC RAM, and an Nvidia Quadro 600 graphics card. Both for $400.
Used computer I might buy locally. Older Xeon chip and chipset, but it is 6-core and can take two CPUs (although only one is installed). Also has NVidia Quadro 4000 card in it. All for $450. Good deal? Oh, and it has 20 GB RAM.
Is this a pretty powerful setup? I will be using it for CAD and...
Found one at the pawn shop yesterday. It was a late 2013 Macbook Pro, 13-inch screen, 2560 x 1600 display, Iris graphics, Intel Core i5 4th gen processor, 128 GB SSD.
All for $350.
I asked the guy if it was stolen. He said no they run the serial number through a database, and the local police...
I just bought a Dell M4600 from a pawn shop. No blemishes on the outside that I could see.

320 GB Toshiba HD
16 GB DDR3 Kingston RAM
Nvidia Quadro 1000M graphics card with 2 GB
1920 x 1080 matte non-IPS screen
Webcam
Back-lit keyboard
Windows 8 Pro 64-bit installed on...
I'm using a 32" TV as a PC monitor. Is 1920 x 1080 too low a resolution for a monitor for you? I find it is barely acceptable, the pixel density is quite low. I have to sit further to get a decent image, otherwise sitting close gets me a bleh picture.
But anyone here have this setup?
Got it last night for $65 out the door.
So far it looks pretty good. 1920 X 1200 resolution. How does it compare to the HP ZR2440w or Dell 1920 x 1200 monitors?
I just bought this monitor used off Craigslist and so far it looks good, but would like to know how many hours on the backlight lamp. Is there a way to see this?
I found a set of Z-2300 satellites at a pawn shop for $15 total. It did not come with the subwoofer or the controller. I had the X-540 5.1 system at home, so I connected the Z-2300 to the X-540 sub to make a 2.1 system for my laptop. So far it sounds pretty good. I want to ask if this is okay -...
I am virtually laptop exclusive. I have (4) laptops - HP Elitebook 8560p, Dell Precision M6500, an old Dell E6500, and a Dell Latitude E6520.
What do they all share in common? Premium displays (which is a priority with me)
All have the highest-level displays - 1080p or 1600 x 900 for the...
have two Elitebook 8560p laptops. One has SSD and the other has HDD. I would like to swap the hard drives between the two 8560p laptops. Is all I need to do is install the hard drives and it's good to go once I press the power button? Or do I have to do any configuring, or re-install Windows...
IPS panel with no dead pixels and no obvious blemishes on the outside.
$110 shipped. Paypal accepted.
I'm in Houston, TX if you want to meet locally. ($90 FTF)
$225 shipped, Paypal ok
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.66 GHz, Windows 7 Pro, 120 GB HD, Nvidia Geforce 8400M graphics card, webcam, fingerprint reader, slot-loading DVD drive, screen is gorgeous, battery is in excellent condition and holds a charge for a long time. Loaded with latest drivers...
Not talking about the Dreamcolor display from HP or the older IBM IPS screens.
I'm talking about screens that are relatively available or accessible to general public, whether it's in a business-class or consumer-class laptops.
Also, on a side note, I have read 15.4" screens are generally...
What do you think of this laptop?
Thinking about buying one being sold on CL. What's a good price for a used one, excellent condition?
Specs:
2GHz Intel Core i7-2630QM Quad-Core
8GB (2x4GB) RAM
640GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
Blu-ray ROM with CD/DVD Burning
nVIDIA GeForce...
I know, this is so superficial and the real beauty lies under the hood etc etc.
But let's be shallow for a little bit.
Which notebook computer design sets your heart racing in terms of form factor and exterior skin?
I nominate my HP Elitebook 8560p. I like the austere...
Of course, Thinkpads reign in this area (or used to anyway).
What do you think is the best feeling laptop keyboard out there?
I have an HP Elitebook 8560p that I think has the best feel, and I've owned Dell Latitude, Dell Precision, Thinkpad T400 and X200.
I do like the chiclet style...
I have two Dell D630 laptops. One has the 1280 x 800 screen, and the other has the 1440 x 900 screen. The one with the 1280 x 800 screen has the specs I want (T9400 CPU, 120 GB HD, no Nvidia graphics), it just doesn't have the 1440 x 900 screen.
Is this a pretty easy procedure to do? Anything...
I found this at a pawn shop. It's the HP LA1751G 17" LCD Monitor. The stand is amazing, but the screen is rather small. For such a small screen, it still commands a $249 price on Newegg. Any reason why? What panel type is this...
Found it at a pawn shop for $140, tax included (price was $129.99).
Specs:
CPU: T9500
GPU: Intel GMA X3100
HD: 120 GB
RAM: 2GB
Display: 1280 x 800
Overall, it was in great shape. It had Windows XP Professional, but I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, and now it's running great...
T9600, HD3650, 1920x1200 display, 4 GB RAM, forgot to check size of HD
The display was beautiful, but somewhat dimmer than the T410 they had, but still better-looking than the T410's display
My question is, under Device Manager the HD3650 was shown, but with a exclamation mark symbol. I...
Found it at the pawn shop yesterday. I love 1920x1200 resolution monitors, so this will go great with my Dell 2407WFP-HC, which I found on CL for $100. Both of these monitors use S-PVA. I am still mourning the BenQ FP241W that I foolishly sold a couple of years ago. Will never go with a TN...
I got rid of my one Samsung 23" TN panel when I bought a used Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP-HC, and I have not looked back since. I hated the viewing angle on my old monitor.
Now it's only 1920 x 1200 non-TN for me. Anyone feel similarly?
Local pawn shop has a laptop I am interested in getting. It's a HP 6730s. They are offering it for $299. However, they do not have the username or password to log into Windows XP. Is there a way for me to bypass that so I can what is on the laptop?
It's a Sony VGN-NR498E.
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0 Ghz
HD: 250 GB
RAM: 3.0 GB
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (which I will change to Windows 7)
Screen: 15.4"
Case: Textured silver
Found it at a pawn shop. Had it since yesterday. So far, no problems.
Anyone have this laptop? What do you...
HP Pavilion desktop:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU, Q8200
500 GB HD
4 GB RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
ATI 4560 graphics card
Blu-ray player
AND
HP W2207h glossy flat-panel monitor
All, for $599.99. What do you think - decent deal?
I was at Fry's today and saw this on sale:
Keyboard
Logitech Illuminated keyboard with perfectstroke key system and ultra-thin profile. It's like a laptop keyboard which I prefer, and it's backlit. I don't know what the light source is, if it's LED or what, but it's an even white light...
I found a Dell Latitude D620 at the pawnshop yesterday for $150.
Basic specs were:
Intel Centrino Duo 1.8
80GB HD
1 GB RAM
Windows XP Pro
For $150 - fair deal?
I got it used off of Craigslist. Plugged it in and it works fine. No dead pixels.
I am using it as a TV now, hooked it up to my digital cable box with HD cable, and added some computer speakers to it. It works great! I have a 1080P 24" TV now for about $300.
