I intended to but I forgot. The nearest Ikea is about 4 hours away, so I'm just going to find something at the local hardware store.
The desk is nice unfinished, but I can see the need for oil to protect it. You may also want to sand it. As it comes, it's been sanded but there are still...
I posted this setup a few weeks ago:
After a trip to Ikea my office has evolved to this:
Apparently Ikea recommends not using four of the adjustable legs like I've done on my desk. It's not as solid as my jerker, but I may stick with it.
My current home office setup. I moved in during April... I just put up blinds today.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll hook it up according to this diagram and run some tests. My misconception about the router/switch really over complicated things.
modem ----- router ----- switch ----- WHS
____________|____________----- PS3
____________|____________----- 360
_________WLAN__________----- HTPC
Let me make sure I understand correctly. In the diagram traffic from the WHS to the 360 will NOT look like this:
WHS -> switch -> router -> switch...
This was my intention when I bought the switch. However, with the routing responsibilities still falling on the router... traffic between two items plugged into the switch will still pass through the router (throttling down to 100Mpbs). Is that not correct?
Thanks for the responses. I've done up two diagrams lets start with my current (all wired connections are cat5e). Edit: I forgot to show the MicroCell but I'm sure it's presence doesn't really matter, it's currently connected to my router. In the proposed diagram it would be connected to the...
Components I have:
- Linksys WRT-160N (running DD-WRT)
- HP MediaSmart WHS
- Netgear GS108 switch
I have many wired devices (+1 wireless) in my home and between streaming HD content and torrent traffic my router hasn't been able to keep up. I want to redo my network to take the routing...
The bass is a bit boomy; I've also had some poor luck with the tweeter on the slave speaker going out or becoming weak, but overall they sound quite nice with flac files.
I had a similar problem. Out of around 5k songs iTunes would only load 40% of them into a library; other applications would play them without a hitch. Finally I discovered it was the ID3 tags. I used www.mp3tag.de/en/download.html to downgrade the ID3v2.4 tags to ID3v2.3 and clean them up. I...
I tried to find a link, but homedepot.com is unavailable. Basically I went into the shelving section and used the Rubbermaid components. It was one large laminated black board and two 8" L brackets (they have many styles).
you guys are correct. it's fuzzy but it is indeed windows 7 on the laptop. the laptop is my guinea pig for all new operating systems (and for school too of course).
I moved apartments and changed my setup a little bit. The TV is mounted using a full motion arm. It acts as my secondary monitor when I turn it towards my desk.
I had never seen a Jerker or Fredrik in person until this weekend. My roommate bought a Jerker off craigslist and I went to Ikea to check out the Fredrik. I'll tell you that the Fredrik isn't nearly as stable or large as the Jerker. Hope that helps.
I posted on here once before. In my office I had the Z-Line Gemini Desk from staples. Since then i've added:
HP Verve
HP Quick Dock
Fredrik
Samsung 226BW
I'm in class right now I can't give you a real detailed description. Basically I source to the DVI, turn on PIP, hit swap, and then the DVI becomes PIP. You can change the source of the main picture how you normally would. I know DVI will work with HDMI as I usually watch movies with my HTPC...
