I'm looking for the same thing, except for 24" lcd's. I'd like to be able to fit bigger ones in the future though. But it is impossible to find anything reasonable locally so I'm thinking a more sturdier and permanent DIY setup for 24" screens. These TN panels are so cheap that if and when I get...
Absolutely it's worth it. But I'm unsure whether it's worth the money...
I bought shutter 3d glasses for $10 off ebay and used them with my 24" crt and pretty much only games i played were cod series, but it was definitely worth it. But I still wouldn't buy a 22" monitor and glasses for...
Don't be fooled by the mac gui. I get the same feeling on a pc everytime I change skin/theme. New always looks so much better and sharper and everything to me, guess I don't see the details after I get used to something. Same thing happens when I occasionally use a mac, haven't tried the very...
The only monitors that could be even compared are those two 120hz ones. But they're 1680x1050, I'd wait for the 1080p ones to show up before buying a new one.
But because those cheapo lcds are so cheap, You could buy a 60hz acer just like this http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1466381...
I couldn't care less if it's orange if it is 1080p and 120hz :D
Glossy is bad though, but I'm sure as soon as they get the first ones out there will be a flood on 24" 120hz diplays.
Do you already have two displays? I couldn't live without two so get 1080p for primary and keep the old as secondary. I wouldn't call it a huge upgrade though but considering they're cheap I'd say go for it.
Something actually useful from Apple, oh my. What if I bought the iMac and threw the "iMac" part out the window, would it work as a normal display?
And snowdog, You could potentially use a 30" display for ten years, but enthusiast who's paying 1700$ for a monitor wouldn't be very happy if it...
No need to buy PCI card when he has PCI-E slots. I already posted the cheapest option. PCI card works too though, just cost twice as much and may have driver conflicts. Only con is that PCI-E may need a little hacking to make it fit unless the x1 slots are left open (in some mobos they are in...
No you don't. Even though You dont mention yor mobo in your sig, if you have a 754-mobo you can add one or more gpu's. Any pci-e slot will do, even the x1 slots. They can't be used for sli of course, but work just fine for additional displays.
Just get this for example...
There's no difference. Single is the way to go. If you want more GPU power with Crossfire/SLi setup then it's a different thing. But then you have to connect both monitors in the same card anyway because sli/crossfire does not support outputs in multiple cards (at least they didn't some time...
Absolutely true, and the test is wrong too.
That is the problem, any display outside their native resolution/refresh rate will show more or less lag. Test should be done at 120hz, but finding a crt capable of 1680x1050@120hz is difficult, but not impossible.
Do You have any reliable source for this because I believe this is false and due to a few idiots making a review of something they don't understand. But anyway, 120hz is always better than 60hz, and even more if (and when) theres no need to use vsync. If you can afford it and like online gaming...
If You'd put a black picture in it could you still tell it's on? I like to use black screen saver (but no auto off) and often forget my monitors on because it is impossible to tell if tey're on or not no matter how dark room. Now I'd imagine that they have infinite contrast ratio because isn't...
I don't know, but I suppose it's the flicker, visible on not. But I've never had any problems, even when playing at 60hz. On the other hand I've seen many lcds flickering so bad (PWM brightness control I suppose) that they are really pain to watch. Also many lcds are so bright even on the lowest...
Yes I'm sure. The thing is that nVidia 3d glasses are connected through USB and only sync to the GPU output signal. They don't care what's showing on the screen and whether it is 10 or 20ms late. Now if it'd be 10ms late the 3d effect wouldn't exactly work....
I believe it doesn't have any lag, at least at native resolution and refresh rate. I've said it before, but being 3d capable it should be impossible to have any lag at all since 3d wouldn't work if it had any.
About 240hz and bandwidth: I wouldn't mind at all to run out of bandwidth and only...
Why not have, or at least try both? Good trinitron is a very good monitor. The best tn is not that great of a display but does it's job, even if you sometimes cant even tell gray and white apart, Crysis still looks pretty damn awesome on a 24" lcd, but I couldn't play CS for half a second...
Just swapped a "like new" condition FW900 on my table. I like it. I'd be ready to pay 2000€ easily for a perfect lcd, but such a thing just does not exist. There are many good ones yes, but I'm not paying that much for a 60hz screen which will hopefully be obsolete in a few years. If there...
Black should be black, but unfortunately you either lose brightness/contrast or black level over the time, don't know if windas can fix this but the newer models seem better than the very first years. Or at least that's what has happened to those I have owned. I luckily still have one mint and...
Where people get the idea that more herz=more gpu power because they've got nothing to do with each other. Of course more bandwidth is required in the cable and at some point it will become a problem. It is kind of sad that they never really thought about more than 60hz when designing those new...
Technically it is possible and for a handy person not difficult at all. Usually same panel is shared with even dozens of displays, so I'd give it a shot before trashing it. What you have yo do it to find out the exact panel it has, then what panels will fit if any, and last find a replacement...
Sony FW900 is the closest you can get, but I cant recommend that anymore since those 120hz 22-inchers arrived. It can do:
2560x1600 @ 75-80hz or something.
I'm not sure if nvision drivers support crt, but no technical reason why not
no dvi of course
refresh rate depends on resolution of course...
Ok, I understand your analogy and I believe there has been quite a lot of discussion about 16:9vs16:10. But for gaming only (PC) I'd still get a 16:9 monitor because it looks nicer and has wider fov, which is I consider the most important in games.
What makes you think so? 16:9 is better no matter what gaming. All today's games which support widescreen support 16:9 too, at least all I play. And it gives a nice advantage online too.
The real problem is why buy expensive crap when you can get same crap for cheap? TN will do until they get some real monitors out. LCDs are dirt cheap to make and only problem with that is the fact that better panels cost slightly more to make, but no one would still buy them if they're just...
16:9 is better for movies and games
16:10 for everything else
Difference is not big though and I believe the price is almost the same, so more pixels the better. I dont believe there are any 22-24" non-TN 16:9 panels on the market, so if You want better panel You wont have a choice anyway.

Where did you get the original driver floppy anyway?! I'm not sure if it ever needs specific drivers under XP, Vista might be a little tricky since M$ thinks all monitors are crap 60hz today...
e: Oh I see...
At least in Europe, No. http://geizhals.at/eu/?cat=tvlcd&xf=34_1280x720
But do you absolutely need a TV because I'm pretty sure the image is scaled inside the console to 720p anyway, so why not go 1080p because as far as I know consoles output that too. There are plenty of 1080p displays, with...
Couple of reviews for your reading pleasure..
http://www.clutchkills.com/videos/samsung-2233rz-review/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN7Y6jTpf0Y It is amazing that you can actually see the difference when he turns despite the crappy camera...
I don't believe this is the case in reality, because no one has been able to measure it correctly yet and the only way to make a comparison would be to compare these two screens against each other at 120hz because crt's cant keep up and those screens do not have vga inputs. What I'm saying they...
I suggest You try it, You'll be surprised. Needless to say I wouldn't bother gaming online at less than 120fps(hz) but singleplayer games are totally different thing. Fortunately I can run Crysis at 60fps maxed, but I dont really care because I play it only for the graphics. But 3d is another...
This is not true actually. I have similar glasses and CRT and it does not really need high fps to be enjoyable, normal 60 fps is more than enough for me at least. However, all this depends entirely on the nVidia drivers and what modes they allow. I haven't tried them because they only work on vista.
Why do you even think about it. 120hz is better than 60 in every way in every situation. If you're not happy with it, just set it to 60hz, even does that better than any monitor on the market.
It seems that for some reason people have completely forgotten that not very long ago there were no...
I wouldn't trust these numbers too much because it is impossible to proper lcd vs crt input lag comparison with these since they don't even have d-sub, and so far i have not seen one done at 1680x1050@120hz, but rather at 100hz or something because of limitations of the crt. But they both are 3d...
Well said, I wouldnt use the 2233rz as my main display and I dont think you'd be very happy with the resolution drop either. But in games resolution does not make any difference really, but hz does. I believe it wont be as important for someone who is already used to slow lcds, so it is really...
I dont think there has been a single correct answer to the Vsync question. Ulrick28 did explain it nicely yet simplified so that everyone could understand. Here's a hint: google frame buffer an vsync. Oh and triple buffering also of course.
But all that is completely irrelevant since I believe...
I have fried a couple of network controllers on P35/P45 boards. They were MSI though, both were replaced. I started having network issues and then lost the entire adapter. Nothing helped, manufacturer replaced both. I did use them with separate NIC, but as I was concerned that something else...
