Ok,
so currently i have a single gtx580 i game at 1920x1200. I play BF3, Mafia II, Grand Theft Auto 4. Core i7 920 overclocked at 4ghz with 12gb of RAM. my question is this, the gtx580 was just bought so it can be returned. I got a good deal on it though right at 425 bucks. so should i...
Is this possible trying to affordable build a workstation for maya etc. running core i7 at 4.2 on water with 12gig of ram. Have a radeon 5870 available if there is a more softmodable card out there im open to purchasing one.
how do you get batman to see physx is possible i cant seem to get it to recognize my gtx 260 using 5870 as render card. Everything else runs in hardware physx mode.
Just as the title says running a 5870 with gtx 260 as a physx card. Physx is working fluidmark runs in hardware mode, as does 3dmark, but batman doesnt have physx options i guess because its detecting the render card as a 5870 is there a way to enable it? and make sure it runs on the nvidia card?
Debating adding a second 5870 i came from gtx 260 tri-sli i love the low idle noise and heat from the 5870 miss some fps in a few cases. How well does the 5870 scale in crossfire? i see some examples on some games online but those are a few popular games. Also id love to fold on the 5870 on...
one last question because i know im gonna end up running CF lol, i can find my bridge that came with my x58 board, are they all the same? if i get one of the Powercooler flexible ones off newegg will that work? it only specs through the 2900xt is why im asking. but it seems they are all the same.
well im hoping i dont regret bighting the bullet ang getting a 5870 but i had to for the acceleration in premeire nvidia requires you buy a special quadro card that runs you about 3800 bucks for that acceleration. AMD has a free plugin for any stream capable card in there forums. BTW the 5870...
well i pulled the trirgger after finding out amd actaully has a plug in for ther consumer cards that enables the functionality of a 3800 dollar quadro in Preimere cs4 and the fact i work at a computer shop and got a minor deal on the 5870 at 348 bucks.
So anyone need a nice sli setup lol?
well im figuring ebay em probably looks like 125ish is doable there meaning its a free "upgrade" im just sure im giving up graphics horsepower. but man these cards in triple run HOT.
Yea id like all the info i can get. The way i see it i can probably get what 100-120 bucks a piece out of my 260's on ebay. I have all ther orginal packaging etc. that puts me at about 20-80 buck to go to a single 5870. Im sure ill loose some performance but honestly i program and do media...
well im getting performance as good or better than gtx 285 sli. I can live with a slight drop i guess, i figured if i sell my gtx 260's that buys me one 5870 im loosing performance but gaing quite a bit in power reduction etc. is there still a work around to use nvidia as a physx card with ati...
I currently have a gtx260 tri sli setup using 192sp original gtx 260's my issue is heat and noise with this setup its in a core i7 system. Im considering dropping down to a single 5870 or twin 5850's im not a huge gamer anymore and would really like a quiter cooler system with lower power useage...
I can't reccomend Sidewinder Computers enough. Gary is great to deal with, he met me locally to drop things off so i could get a build rolling that night. A1 customer service all the way around.
thats my next question where am i safe running vcore at 24/7 my cpu doesnt seem to be a great core i7 it takes 1.4 in bios about 1.360 at load according to cpu-z to get stable 4ghz clocks. and about 1.445 in bios to get stable at 4.2 are these voltages safe if my temps are low 70's?
what are any of us doing that we need chips at the speeds we run them at lol. Anyway ive backed it down to 4.0 at 1.36 with vdroop. im looking for max safe performance. i really hate to drop back to 3,6 i was there on air.
Is generic correctly sized pvc tubing any less safe than the high dollar sutff? i am using 7/16" on a 1/2 system so everything is really tight and less leak prone i hope?
I jsut got my water cooled system up and going its leak testing on distilled water with pt nuke in it at the moment. My question is if i totally drain the system and fill it with something like pc ice non conductive fluid is it safe in a leak? if so it might be worth losing a bit of performance...
Which block would you choose? I have heard great things about the heatkiller, but they dont have the hold down plate which i guess isnt required but not sure about not using one and board warpage? Also will a swiftech 3x120 with 3 110cfm skythes keep this baby cold? on air im pushing into the...
well the issue seems to be that there is no room between the cards for the fans to draw air. they get warm. plus obviously the top card runs much hotter since heat rises. If someone made good air sinks id be all over them because i dont like the idea of water in my system but as of now its...
Ok im now building a loop for cooling just my processor. ITs a Core i7 920 currently at 3.6ghz hoping for more. Right now i cant increase vcore beyond 1.285 because my temps are out of control. Im looking at the EK blocks, Swiftech, Danger Den, etc. What block is best? i cant find a comparasion...
Im just honestly looking for a way to keep tri-sli from cooking itself. I see no way to mount 3 raiditors to a antec 1200. of i need the equivalent of 6 120mm raiditors to do the job all i can say is this stuff isnt the efficency marvel it is said to be. You can cool a car with that much surface...
i did a little research it appears with some decent fans a swiftech triple raditor is capable of getting rid of about 600w of heat at 1.5gpm at a 10C delta. So if i can acheive this type of flow with those fans it would seem a triple would easily keep the cards cool. Assume a HOT room temp of...
what pump would i need to get if i want to just cool my video boards for now but then later add aditional raiditor or raiditors and a cpu block. Will an MPC655 do this? if not suggestions that dont break the bank. Also is there someplace that shows some examples of a DIY external waterbox, im...
im not saying you guys are wrong but im not looking to keep the cards at ambient here, how can the little bit of aluminnum on them with a fan can keep them cool, when the fans can breath anyway, and i need a 4x120 raditor to do the same? somehow it doesnt make sense.
ok guys if a triple 120 raditor isnt gonna get the job done what should i be looking at? Im planning to hang this off the back of my antec 1200 if its any bigger than a triple will it not cover up my cards etc?
hey im looking to water cool triple 280's imnew to water cooling looking for recomendations. Thinking swiftech wmc60 blocks since they can be reused on new cards later on.
Are the various non conductive coolants really safe? Like say a major hose failure and you drop coolant directly on a video board of into the powersupply which is bottom mounted in my case. Are you still safe? Id like to go water but man i dont want to kill a $2500+ rig because a hose clamp failed.
one i was looking at was the swiftech mcw60 just because its universal meaning i can change the passive plate out later and cool a new type of chip? Is there any air coolers that would work well in tri sli?
