My striker has ben working flawlesly sence Dec. 2006 .......... but it will do so only on bios 0701 ! my E6600 is super stable @ 3.62 like it was meant to be .
No other Bios will let me overclock . And sence Im not having any issues with 0701 , I dont see a need for a new bios unless theres...
Is there an advantage to having a quad with 12 MB of shared L2 catch that may have 2 cores idle most of the time as opposed to a dual core with 6MB of shared L2 catch ? Question being 12MB catch alone a performance asset over the fact of having 4 cores ?
I had an OEM version of XP ( one of the originals form 2001, then later made a slipstreamed sp2 disc ) and never had an issue swapping mother boards or re installing or any upgrading .
Just some speculation but, Vista seems to be alittle more proactive with system hardware with its checking...
Whats in it that we dont allready down load everyday ? Mine says downloading 121.5MB total, so I guess its subjective to what you allready have installed.

My system doesnt have any problems that warant a new bios , but I may go from conroe to wolfdale which my current bios does not support .
EZ Flash 2 looks like the way to go . In my manual it states EZ flash 2 utility supports FAT32 and down , I guess you would...
I get this message in Asus Update when I attemt to flash my bios. It says to "press flash to try again, or exit to abort" are the options afterward.
Trying again yeilds the same results no matter how many times I try again.
Any suggestions ?
I have my sticks in now ( new 4 GB , cas4 ) have them running at stock setting no oc.
system seems a little snappier even though i am running memory at slowwer speeds than before ( was running 2GB @ 1080 @ 5-5-5-15 )
did get a couple of blue screens when first booted and a couple times...
I just orderd the " 4 stuff " . Will filling slots 2 and 4 with 1 gig each of 8500 c5 from literaly 1 year ago get along with my new memory in slots 1 and 3 ?
( not that im going to need to at present time but what the heck if it works ! )
I guess i cant use my HP 1115 printer wich i just use for casual printing of documents, with Vista 64. the web site at HP says no drivers avalible and to go out and get a new printer :( .
Windows could not find a solution online .

also bump up the fsb a little on that cpu .You should be able to get like 2.8 with it just the way it is.
