Received my p2715q about 2 weeks ago and it appears I have a perfect copy. Uniform, no light leakage, no dead pixels. Before I had an ACD and this is certainly comparable display to the Apple.
Wrote some more first impressions here: http://markdunkley.com/p2715q-review/
U2711 and NEC PA241W both have very aggressive LG AG coating
I searched for months and couldn't find anything without aggressive AG coating. Ended up returning the U2711 and went with the apple display...I'd take glare over AG coating.

Very happy with my 27". Finally found a decent successor for my 20" MVA vx2025wm.
The gloss is ok, between LG's IPS coating and glossy coating I'd take the gloss. Some of the *VA screens have a nice semi gloss coating which is probably the best compromise...
I'm returning my u2711. One side is tinted the blue (and the other side might be slightly tinted red).
I've also noticed one other massive issue for all you graphic designers out there:
Throw up a solid black bar on a white background. Now move that bar to the far right/left of the screen...
Update: Returning the u2711, one side is tinted blue and the other is slightly red. Second brand new dell that I'll be returning. Will not be buying dell again.
I've been using my new u2711 for a week.
My lcd history:
27" imac - Only had it for a day, IPS shine effect was less noticeable - I...
It could be the pixel pitch of a 24"
I have a Apple 24" and had a 2408WFP. Text both look blurry when I sit fairly close to the monitor.
On my 20" and 2x17" set up home the text is razor sharp because of the smaller pixel pitch.
Apples' 24" ACD is LED and an IPS.
I have it and don't notice the difference vs. a P-MVA panel and my two older 6bit PVAs. However it is considerably brighter.
The HP LP24...something.. has the same panel as the U2410. The quality control issues on the HP look really bad and yes they complain about a pink hue as well.
If you read that massive thread you might get an idea on what to expect.
Best price in Canada has been $430 (not incl tax)
I bought one at this price and returned it ( http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1264046&page=57 )
I use a 24" Apple ACD at work and it is much better than the 2408WFP, aside from the glossiness and the horrible lack of connectivity...
Thanks vick, the cinema display is nice but shipping to canada usually kills those deals and plus, I don't like the idea of no warranty/dead pixel policy (even if they did - I would probably have to pay shipping).
Speaking of pixels I just found out my 2408 has a green stuck pixel. So I have...
I was going to do a 3 monitor stand, but I believe the stands are very expensive, so I went for 3 individual arms instead. It also means that when I upgrade my monitors I don't have to worry about upgrading the whole stand.
By the way if you have never worked with 3 20" monitors before...
Thanks for your opinion psyside and Jeremy112.
I have done some research on the the LP2475w and have the following issues with it:
1) LP2475w still can't render sRGB correctly.
2) Some people are complaining of the text issues. This could be a windows only problem, but I am not really...
I wrote a small review on the 2408wfp and I was generally happy. However, after owning for close to 30 days I am a little disapointed and thinking of returning it for the following reasons:
1) My monitor hates osx. On my hackintosh it needs 5-10 seconds to turn the display on. On my macbook...
The text is sharper on the 17", but I wouldn't notice if I didn't have the two side by side. The default sharpness setting does produce halos, so you have to lower it to 40.
If I compare the letter "l" they look identical when close up to the 17" and 24", but when you sit back the 24" looks...

ZzBloopzZ: I don't think the chair is anything special. I believe it was made by "Lane" (I ripped the label off) and probably from costco 4-5 years ago. It is kind of falling apart, I might try and repair it. The trick to keeping it clean is eliminating papers, I...
Nothing special really (I'm a web designer that doesn't game):
Antec Sonta III case
Gigabyte P35 DS3R
4GB of Ram
1 Terabyte HD
8600GT
E44400 (OC at 3ghz on stock)
I also have a Macbook Pro, but I usually leave that at work.
WRT54GL w/Tomato is my wireless card, cheap X540 speakers...
I use a VM 811
They are definitely not as good as the Ergotrons, but don't cost as much either ($32 each). They can go up and down (at the expense of the lcd going farther forward or backward), swivel left and right, pivot+rotate the lcd, etc.
Not really sure what you mean by "desk...
UberGeek427 & silent hero Thanks! I put together a mini history of all my setups in case you are interested:
P!rate Every since I built my hackintosh I couldn't get my PCI 5200FX work for my extra DVI port. Previously I had windows+ultramon which was amazing for 3 monitors. I am going to...
Update: I returned the monitor after 2 weeks for the following reasons:
1) Buzzing sound coming from the lcd
2) Found a stuck pixel
3) Not being able to calibrate to sRGB made life too difficult for me
4) I can't put my finger on it but the text/sharpness of the display was annoying, I much...
I recently bought a dell 2408wfp and am very impressed with it. I can't see any backlight bleed, screen is uniform or any other "defects" that were associated with sub A02 versions.
My only crit is that the viewing angles aren't great, but from the perspective of a web designer it doesn't...
you may want to reconsider the angle - it has nothing to do with whether you are sitting in front of the screen when you are dealing with TN panels.
If you are serious about what you are doing I wouldn't even think about a 6bit panel. I am a web designer and used one at my last job and it...
It was in the business section of the dell monitors, checkout redflagdeals and someone will post a thread when the next deal is out (probably in a month or so).
The only problem with Dell is that they built my lcd 2 days after I ordered it, so I will have to wait about 2 weeks for it to arrive.
I think the only area where the Dell beats the HP (other than price) is contrast, and not by much.
Both the Dell and the HP seem to suffer from quality control issues, every monitor is different and you may get a really good one or a bad one. If you check out both the big long monitor...
@fe_918
Dell has sales every month in Canada that go on for 7-9 days. The 2709 was $550 the other day.
@Specialist[X]
That image comparing the angles between the NEC and HP is very misleading, I think they have the wrong monitor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3WZ5QAvF6M This is a...
After a month of thinking about it and researching I bought the dell over the hp (yesterday actually)
I got the Dell for $430 (Canadian) and the HP would cost ($740) (tax not inc.)
If it wasn't for the big price dif, I would have gotten the HP simply because of the better viewing angles...
It get 100% network connectivity (about 20 ft from router).
Someone in another forum suggest I use a second WRT54GL as my network adapter. Since the WRT54 is cheaper than any "decent" network adapter I will probably go through this route.
The main reason I am upgrading my router and/or network adapter is because I cannot get a quality connection on skype (calls "skip" and I can't hear the other person for 1-3 seconds every minute or so).
I have opted to go with the WRT54GL (and eventually flash it) because of its proven track...
Quick Update:
I bought another 500GB hard drive. Installed it and upgraded to SP2. I then added my original 500GB hard drive, but windows would not recognize my original partitions.
I am now trying to recover/rebuild the partitions using a program called TestDisk.
I still can't believe...
Looking at the CD it doesn't say anything about SP1 or SP2. Last time I installed it I think it had SP1.
When I installed windows the last time using this disk I had to repartition it, because it would not recognize the whole 500GB. So from that you should be able to tell what SP it has...
I have a single 500GB seagate in my desktop. It has 2 partitions - C: (60GB - windows is installed) and F: (420ishGB - data)).
I wanted to do a reformat (thinking I could just reformat the C: drive and leave the F: drive in tact)
Here is what I did:
Booted from Windows XP CD. After it...
Its called banding. It happens with TN panels because it is 6 bit. It can happen with *VA and IPS but usually doesn't.
Please stop quoting other people images over again.
I have used TN (LG L204WQT) and a Viewsonic vx2025wm (P-MVA) side by side and the P-MVA is night and day.
Compared the LG there is very little colour shifting, colours are much more vibrant, significantly reduced backlight bleed (some VAs can be bad though), the blacks are much blacker, grey...
align the top of you LCD to your eye level. There is something about that in an ergonomic computer guide, something about your eyes don't blink as much if you are looking up at your LCD.
