Achieva Shimian QH270| $400 IPS 2560x1440 Korean Monitor

What's up with people touting glossy as something amazing? The reflections on this get quite distracting and annoying, especially if you want to watch anything on it. I have a BenQ FP241W with anti-reflective coating and I don't notice any sort of 'grain'. Kind of confused here.

Achieva Shimian QH270| $400 IPS 2560x1440 Korean Monitor

While your statement is true, the newer components are, in fact, cheaper. Nowhere anywhere did I say they advertised above 60hz. I simply said they are now using cheaper components; which is the truth.

Achieva Shimian QH270| $400 IPS 2560x1440 Korean Monitor

Most people are going to be, especially when they receive their monitor to find out the manufacturer is now using cheap components instead. Also, yes, he is right, it is unprecedented. In any case, my Catleap is going back for replacement soon.

Achieva Shimian QH270| $400 IPS 2560x1440 Korean Monitor

Yeah I don't have the tempered glass version. It does look a little like dust. Not much I can do about it. Even if it was and I opened it up, I'd probably end up getting more dust in it, don't really have access to a Class 3 clean room. :P

Using an old monitor as a media center?

Hello everyone, not sure if this is the right place but, I am trying to think of a way to turn my old monitor into a sort of media center for some of my devices. Basically the big thing is looking to hook my monitor for cable TV, however it does not have any coaxial input. First let me...

Achieva Shimian QH270| $400 IPS 2560x1440 Korean Monitor

Ordered from Green-Sum. Packaging was well done. However that's where the good things end. 1) Opened it up to find WATER INSIDE THE MONITOR PACKAGING. 2) The Stand tilts, but I understand this is normal for all Catleaps. 3) Got 4 dead pixels stacked next to each other. Deal was too...

Achieva Shimian QH270| $400 IPS 2560x1440 Korean Monitor

Wasn't looking for a new one but... 2560x1440, IPS, possibility of up to 97 hz, $375, low input lag... when similar models are 2-3x the cost in the USA. Um... yeah, pulled the trigger on the Catleap, way too good to pass up. I'll try to do a comparison between this and my BenQ FP241W (P-MVA)...

HDCP Support at all? So because this doesn't have a scaler, I wouldn't be able to play a game in 1080p or an older game in a lower resolution other than the 1440p one? Is this correct?

    On-screen volume display how-to.

Came across this recently. Worked, except the on screen display doesn't work in full screen games. Anyone got a recommendation one that does?

    So... X25-M or Vertex.

Is fragmentation the reason performance degrades over time on all SSD drives? Or is this something separate?

    So... X25-M or Vertex.

I have been debating on which of these drives to go with and with every new review I see, I change my mind about which drive to choose. So what it comes down to at the moment seems to be: Vertex: 120GB, less expensive per GB, writes advertised as up to 180 MB/s (however this seems to only be...

    stuck/dead red pixel

Don't hold your breath. I did 3 RMA's and it took me all of them to get one where the stuck pixels weren't in the center of the screen. The one I have now is about a CM away from the right and is unnoticeable unless on a dark blue background.

    Dell 3008WFP vs Gateway XHD3000

It comes down to: Gateway: Monitor blanking out for a second randomly, occasionally. Dell: Severe backlight bleeding issues. Both have issues no $1400+ monitor should have.

    quad LCD setup?

Yup, could use ATI/NVIDIA because if you use more than 2 monitors, windows will handle that. Alternatively you could even use a PCI card. However within Vista (if you ever plan to switch) they won't work unless they are same brands.

    Program/Method to Resize TV Display

Unfortunately what you are looking for should be on your graphics card driver options. I know they are for NVIDIA anyways. I am unsure of any program that can do it for you. Typically running the HDTV at its native resolution should prevent any overscanning.

    720p 1:1 pixel mapping???

I believe the PS3 has a scaler. On the other hand some monitors have an "Aspect" option which will basically stretch it to fit the monitor, but also reserve its aspect ratio.

LOL. No. TN will never be the same or close to an IPS, not even after calibration.

No those issues haven't been fixed, Dell said they won't. They will just offer a refund.

Dead pixel or stucked pixel or neither...?

Probably stuck. Either way you'll probably want to replace it if you want it gone. I have one on mine and no amount of pixel flashing utilities or tapping will bring it back. Although I guess you could try them beforehand.

New Benq to replace fp241w soon

The place that manufactures the MVA panels they used previously stopped making them. They can't do anything about it, really. Atleast this is what I heard. Who knows, most likely it will be downgraded to a TN, I think some other models have done that like from Dell and such.

    New display- annoying pixel.

I tried the tapping method on a pixel before, it worked.... kind of. It removed the dead pixel from the area and I was happy, except I looked down and somehow the dead pixel moved further away, which made no sense since it wasn't anywhere near the area I was tapping.

    Gamma settings

Does anyone actually leave this at default (1.0 [9%] in NVIDIA control panel)? Or do you personally lower it/increase it? Increasing the digital vibrancy, according to the chart below, means I would have to lower the gamma to get it to match. Is this the best way to do it? According to the...

There is a big diff gaming at 2560x1600 compared to 1920x1200

The screen is bigger it will look more blocky. Has to do with pixel size and screen size in relation to the 1920x1200 resolution or something. The lower the resolution and bigger the screen, the more pixelated it will be. 1920x1200 on a 24" will look more crisp. It's like running 1680x1050 on a...
