Thanks! Feedback like this helps a bunch, I'm trying to transition into entry IT and it's pretty rough.
Would putting my hobby as light freelancing/consulting be a bad idea?
I've built and setup desktops, networks, process some antimalware for friends and acquaintances.
Hey all, aren't resumes supposed to only be a page long and any longer is detrimental? Just wondering, since I've seen some around 2+ and was wondering what to do with mine as well.
Radeon r9 300 series is coming out soon with next generation memory. The only problem is...It doesn't look like they announced it at CES...so it may not even be Q1 =[. I guess it depends on if you're willing to wait. My own willingness diminished after the lack of CES news lol
These experiences were what I was looking for, thanks! If any more people have comments on it, go for it!
As of right now I run at 1680x1050 but I plan on moving to 1080p and maybe 2k within the next year lol.
$250-360 I'm willing to spend for it. I was going to buy one now but things came up...
Is the lack of a backplate a big issue or is it mostly for looks? I notice some of the reviews say it sags physically without it, but have no problems yet.
Didn't even know a 960 was coming out..lol..
I just read AMD is going to release their r9 3XX series around the same time.
So hopefully a price war soon? haha
OoO thanks for the info
So I've recently rebuilt my computer, excluding GPU and PSU.
I'm itching to upgrade the gtx 470 I've had since launch.
Would a 750ti be a huge upgrade? I realize gtx 970 was just released..you can say it's out of my budget lol
Other Specs:

Elsie: Tigerdirect/Newegg doesn't have Akasa?
doyll: Yea the refurbs are scary and not having piece of mind is not worth it lol.
I ended up going with the Arctic Freezer i30, since I wanted something quieter than the Evo 212.
Bought it with the case at Tigerdirect for the extra 30 bucks off!
Hey all, just picked up an i7-4790k and Asus z97ar. Ordering a NZXT h440 soon and need to get aftermarket cooling I guess.
My current thoughts:
I'm deciding between Arctic freezer i30(CO/non CO), Hyper 212 EVO and Corsair h80i refurb. All are around the same price range.
I haven't seen...
Hey Dan, thanks for the quick response!
I'll pick up the AR this weekend, unless you have better suggestions for a budget quality board to pair up with a i7-4790k/i5-4690k!
Hey all, last time I was here was... I don't even know..
So with all the deals coming up...and my current desktop reaching it's lifetime.. evga 680i wooo ;)
I did some research and am having trouble deciding between the Asus z97-A(R) and the Asrock z97 Extreme 6.
One has questionable...
I bought this chair about 3-4 months ago. I'm a gamer so I spend an ungodly amount of time in it and it's ridiculously comfortable for the price imo.

When i started installing stalker, the setup said that i only had 448mb video memory. Isn't that wrong; i'm supposed to have 512mb? Anyway i tried maximum graphics and it started stuttering a bit in open fields. Am i supposed to max out without lag on stalker?
I'm using the latest drivers, my gpu temp stays around 60-70 Celsius. Maybe it's just the game...
lol getting a new monitor is too much out of my budget, i would if i could!
wouldn't another 8800gt increase my framerate or even my graphics threshold? For some reason i can't max out on games like COH or even CS:S without suffering noticeable lag.
I'm thinking about getting another 8800GT to go with my system, but i don't know if any of my parts will bottleneck performance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

I've been running into problems with GBPVR, when i open the program and go into any of the first selections for subcategories (video, guide, etc) it freezes and i have to kill the process. I haven't been able to find anything on that problem.
woot, $60 for a regularly $100 tuner. this is a steal thanks infamous_gooch, you should post this in Hot Deals. i'll probably pick this up today
Edit:
i bought it, installed it...included software is really bad, extremely pixelated video (not sure if it's the university's connection...or...

"To make the WinTV-HVR-1250 more affordable to PC users and still deliver high performance, it supports Hauppauge's SoftPVR and SoftMCE software MPEG-2...
oh, whoops
i was actually thinking that this pertains to just hd specifications for a htpc in general, the tuners listed are just for reference.
So is it worth it for me to get a hdtv tuner for the monitor i have?
what exactly do you need for a hdtv htpc setup???
for example, i have a simple 19" flat panel monitor which the native resolution is 1280x1024 so can this support hd channels if i buy a HD operable card (tv tuner link below)??
