I'm having a similar issue on my MSI GTX460. I get weird Artifacting across the screen in the shape of a green or red squiggly lines. This started happening to me after my screen went blank, reset, then showed a message in windows stating that my Driver had crashed and was rebooted. I then...
A friend of mine accidentally deleted photos she wanted from her sd card. She's tried using the program "recuva" to recover them but with no luck.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for the response. If TLER is not required for software raid, does that mean any drive can be used in software raid? (i.e. Western Digital WD20EARS would work)
If the above is true, why do you in particular recommend the Hitachi?
I'm trying to build an Ubuntu Server box primarily for media streaming/file serving and some light development. I'd like to set up a software raid 5 array with 4 or 5 2TB drives. However, I can't tell which drives are able to do Raid and which are not (this is after following the boards and...
I'm thinking I'll go with the same setup as you (no hardware raid). Thanks a lot for the help.
Also, wow...I had no idea the hot swap adapters would be so expensive. Is there a lot of hardware built into that thing?
I'm looking for a good case for a home media/development server I am setting up. I'm putting in an Athlon II x4 635 w/ a microATX mobo.
I need a case that can support 4-6 hard drives (6 is the maximum on the board, 4 is what I suspect I'll end up actually using). It'd be great if those...
This thread is hilarious. I love how all the OP's comments were editted out but you can read them all in the quotes. :)
OP, you should google "In-order architecture" and "Out of order architecture". That concept alone will illuminate why atom is inferior to core 2. There are multiple...
Thanks for the response. Even though the 1600 speed isn't native, all ddr3 1600 will be supported but will run at a lower speed, correct? Will there ever be a complication from doing so?
I recently purchased an MSI Motherboard and it says it supports "DDR3-1600 (O.C.), DDR3-1333, DDR3-1066, DDR3-800". I'm unsure what the "(O.C.)" means. Will it natively support DDR3-1600?
I have a pair of these lying around will they work...
Hey Archaea, what BIOs version are you running to use that Q9300? I'm planning on upgrading to a quad core but I wasn't sure if it would be compatible.
I just picked up the OCZ ModXstream 600W for cheap, and I'm wondering if I'd be able to run 2 x 8800gts 512 in SLI on my current rig (See 1st item in Sig)? Also, is this OCZ power suppy stronger than my current one (also in sig) which is now 2 years old?
Could you give us a better sense of the kind of apps you'll be trying to write and what kind of "jobs" you'll be doing later? Java is a pretty nice language to learn. It's what I used when I first started. It's nice because it isn't windows specific. On the other hand, .Net and C# work...
Someone referred this article to me:
http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?63273-*-Windows-7-Ultimate-Tweaks-Utilities-*
I found it very useful.
Ok I went through the article and disabled hibernation and page filing. I looked at the System restore and it said it was only taking up 150MB at the moment so i left it on. I've now gone from 8GB ->11.5GB. However, the the problem in the original post still persists. Any suggestions?
I just installed a new Intel X25-V SSD with a fresh Windows 7 64 bit install on Friday. After installing Windows and all the applications I needed, I was left with ~18GB left on the drive. However, I looked at the amount of free space available today, and it's down to only 7GB!
The loss in...
Buy the MSI GD65. Has Auto Overclocking through their "OC Genie" feature. Gets you to 3.5ghz with a i5 750, so you should get at least that with the i7. I own one and I love it.

Thanks for the help guys. I've been reading reviews and there are complaints about touchpad and keyboard on the UL80. Apparently they are horrible. Does anyone have first hand experience with this?
One of my favorite games of all time. Graphics look a little dated now but the AI and gameplay are still amazing. A must have if you're a history buff or really like the movie Gladiator.
Nice. That looks like how I'll go.
One other thing I'm wondering...are i3 and i5 mobile processors coming soon? And are they going to be significantly better in some way? (Other than just being faster)
I'm shopping out a new laptop for my cousin. I don't really follow laptop technology other than on notebookreview.com, so I have little idea of what is really out there. Here are the specs I'm looking for:
13-15" screen
Good battery life (5+ hours)
Built in CD/DVD Drive
Moderate...
I'm trying to understand the label on my power supply. It shows Input Voltage, Current, and Power. The input voltage varies from 3.3v, 5v, 12v, -12v etc. What do these different voltages signify? As in, when are the different voltages used by the computer?
My understanding is very basic...
This is a really awesome deal. So tempting...debating between this deal or waiting for the 1.5TB model..hmmm.....
Edit: Just realized the Per GB price is equivalent.
Get the CULV, you won't regret it. I have a Dell Mini 12 netbook, with a Z530 processor (equivalent to the N270). My sister owns the Dell 11z with the SU4100 CULV processor. Everything is A LOT snappier on her 11z. It feels like what you've come to expect from a modern computer. HD playback...
A 4890 can be had for around $170-180. It's a stronger card than the 5770. You miss out on the DX11 and Eyefinity, but you get a little more performance.
I realized when i wrote the question that it might be a bit ambiguous. Primarily what I'm asking is if the MSI board will be stable (not break) and will overclock well. But in a more general sense I want to make sure the board is up to par with the Gigabyte and Asus boards also being...
I'm trying to upgrade my current system on a $500 budget. Here's my current build:
Intel E2160 (350FSB x 9 = 3.15ghz @ 1.325vCore) w/CoolerMaster TX2
EVGA 8800gts 512mb (G92) @ 740/1800/1040
Abit IP35-E rev 1.4
A-DATA 4GB(2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 -- 876mhz [email protected]

I went ahead and installed directly through the OS last night. Things seem ok, but this Windows 7 Home Premium doesn't feel as snappy as my Windows 7 RC did. I still have both installed on this same netbook and there is a significant difference between the two (at least to my eye). Is this to...
