Did you build your PC and install Windows yourself?

Do you guys use Bitlocker on your home/Personal machines?

That's likely exactly why the OP created this thread. Also there is no sense in simply wondering about things, these days you look things up. https://www.tomshardware.com/software/windows/windows-11-24h2-will-enable-bitlocker-encryption-for-everyone-happens-on-both-clean-installs-and-reinstalls

No, but I use the Home variants of Windows at home so its never been an option.

    Destiny 2

Join us, its wonderful over here. Ha, yeah I love this game, the story, the gameplay, the weapons, the environments, the gunplay... everything except actually playing it myself. I dropped it cold turkey in Season of the Splicer after I was asked to do another strike i've run 1000 times. Not...

Is there an Apple event upcoming with possible product updates?

That nano-textured glass looked, sorry to say, but pretty bad at least in MKBHD's video. He even said it takes away from the "OLED'ness" and at least in video, I tend to agree. I like my OLED glossy. But, really depends on your use case and environment, I suppose.

High hot spot temps on 4090 ROG Strix

No fan adjustment you make is going to fix the core/hotspot delta issue you have.

High hot spot temps on 4090 ROG Strix

The case is bad, that's clear, but you're still getting a 20+c delta between core and hotspot, nearly 25c. That's a problem you're not going to solve with more cooling.

    Apple iPad Pro 2024 OLED

Linked to the timestamp where Marques talks about these two options and shows some video of both after his hands on today. TBH it looks awful. Ruins the whole point of OLED. https://youtu.be/-T0MGehwWvE?t=356

    LG 32GS95UE – OLED 31.5″ with 4K @ 240Hz and 1080p @ 480Hz Support - The death knell of LCD panels

There is an unfortunate disconnect between the real world and numbers reviewers spit out.

    LG 32GS95UE – OLED 31.5″ with 4K @ 240Hz and 1080p @ 480Hz Support - The death knell of LCD panels

Maybe not, but this makes it sound like you’re getting a subpar HDR experience. People say this all the time about my C2, meanwhile the damn thing makes me squint at bright elements in HDR content. I’m just not onboard with that argument.

    LG 32GS95UE – OLED 31.5″ with 4K @ 240Hz and 1080p @ 480Hz Support - The death knell of LCD panels

My C2 is on somedays for 15+ hours. Hidden Taskbar, black background, liberal use of a screensaver when walking away for a short time, good dark mode extension for your browser that changes the scrollbar, SDR slider in Windows at 5%.. the main things I do. Windows on screen are NEVER...

    LG 32GS95UE – OLED 31.5″ with 4K @ 240Hz and 1080p @ 480Hz Support - The death knell of LCD panels

Depends on the person. Text clarity even on my older C2 is fine, I have no issues with it. Burn in will always be a possibility with organic LED's, no way to prevent it completely. I just do my part to minimize the risk and stop thinking about it. OLED will be replaced with something else...

High hot spot temps on 4090 ROG Strix

I was watching hotspot temps last night while playing Horizon Forbidden West (4K max, DLSS Quality, 118fps framerate cap). My TUF 4090 was only at roughly 65% load due to the framerate cap but core temps hovered around 58-60 and hotspot around 70c (reported by HWiNFO)

High hot spot temps on 4090 ROG Strix

That seems very out of character for a STRIX 4090. IMO you have two choices, RMA it or try to fix it yourself with a re-paste. (third option is of course do nothing) Given the actual core temp is exactly where it should be, i'm thinking a mounting pressure issue. Over 15c or so there is...

Yeah, does this case have intake fans at all? Its unclear.

High hot spot temps on 4090 ROG Strix

I can't quite see the front of the case but the bottom has no fans. Does this case have clear, unobstructed intake airflow? I can see plenty of exhaust. I don't think I've seen my 4090 TUF's hotspot temp higher than 82-84c ever.

NVIDIA to Only Launch the Flagship GeForce RTX 5090 in 2024, Rest of the Series in 2025

No, not really. His "leaks" are just making youtube videos about things actual leakers post on twitter. He was just recently duped by them (who think he's a joke) and he made a video with a fake slide, it was pretty hilarious to watch unfold.

Upgrade my 1080 GTX - What recommendation?

This is what is commonly adopted by people who don't know what they're talking about. So common that even display manufacturers have jumped on it and advertise this way. Something can gain popularity and become the standard for speech and still be blatantly wrong. Glenwing over there knows his...

    Very [HOT] 7900X3D $330 @ Antonline

Since these chips came out, 7900x3D has made no sense and still makes no sense. There is a reason they're slashing prices. I suppose if they go low enough its still "good" in a general sense but compared to its siblings.. meh.

Super Flower 1200W Platinum PSU (with 3 120mm fans bundled): $144.99 @ Newegg

I have the 1000W version, its been great. Downside is the very high quality ball bearing fan is also somewhat noisy (if you have a very quiet system) but the switch for Hybrid mode solves that. I never hear it come on anymore (7800x3D/4090). I paid $180 or so a year and a half ago.

Yeah that’s why I suggested watching package power. Given all the Intel instability issues though with more aggressive board presets, if you’re happy just leave it.

    Curve Optimizer and 5800x3d

Are you sure you're setting up PBO in the correct place? If you're in the AI Overclocking tab or whatever they call it, the PBO section there literally doesn't do anything. Advanced > Scroll down to AMD Overclocking then set it up in there. This is a classic Asus thing. Two PBO sections, one...

What least expensive 34 UW OLED to get?

I was in this predicament with a similarly old Asus PG348Q back in Jan 2023(original ultrawide, 3440x1440, 100Hz). I did not want another 3440x1440 display but I did want OLED. At that point, I realized that was the largest res they were going to be doing for a while so I decided to just get...

Can i smoke in the same room where is pc?

I feel like pictures and examples of PC's that were smoked around are quite commonplace. It should be extremely obvious that if you're going to do this, you need to be VERY diligent about regular cleaning. You'll never escape it entirely though.

    Sound card vs. USB DAC

That's the wild-tier level of audiophiles that I'll just never be down with. There is no way in hell i'm going to tell the difference. Everybodies got to have a hobby, I guess. Just don't be the fool in the old saying "a fool and his money are soon parted".

    Sound card vs. USB DAC

I'm done with Schiit. My Magni and Modi are both falling apart and I quite literally never touch them. Except I have to now more and more to fiddle with connectors and knobs just to get them to operate. The Modi just likes to disappear from Windows from time to time. Reseating the USB cable...

    New router for 2.5g

I moved this weekend and had an appointment with Verizon to move my FiOS connection yesterday. I've had the standard Gigabit so I kept that, but was surprised the router they brought out supports up to 10Gb on the WAN port and one of the LAN ports. The other two LAN ports up to 2.5Gb. The...

Some Intel CPUs lost 9% of their performance almost overnight

This story has been coming to this point for months now. When this first kicked off a couple of months ago with reports of instability it was said it likely has something to do with outrageous motherboard presets so its no surprise that this is where we'd end up, board vendors simply having to...

    Sound card vs. USB DAC

The Sys itself isn’t actually a preamp at all looking at it (while the others are) but essentially just a fancy potentiometer. Still, it’s going to do the job in this case.
  38. C

    Sound card vs. USB DAC

No. But I mean it sounds like you're spending over $100 on a USB cable elsewhere (crazy..) so maybe just make sure you're using good RCA cables.
  39. C

    Sound card vs. USB DAC

In that case then yes, a basic device like the Sys is the way to go.
