I had the same problem with rejoining my network after returning from sleep....but after reading a topic on apples forums it completely went away after I turned up the brightness setting from minimum.
At default brightness it was too bright and caused a lot of strain for my eyes so I turned...
QFT....the only computer or laptop I'll own is a PC, and that is because I actually like windows.
But I'll go ahead and admit that I absolutely love both my iPhone and iPad. My wife also is definitely not an apple fan, but she feels the same way about her iPhone and iPad.
My wife got her 32 gb iPad yesterday...I didn't order one for myself because I have this laptop and have no use for an iPad.
Until I saw hers and messed around on it for a little bit.
I'm heading out to see if any Apple stores in this area (Chicago - north of Chicago to be more...
Agreed. Any of those Asus models Abula listed will be a better deal and better laptop than the Toshiba. The G73 is probably the best price to performance laptop available to date.
Looks like you're correct. :) But it will still be at least a couple of weeks for anyone ordering now to get their laptops because they are selling like hotcakes, and ASUS can't ship 'em out fast enough to keep up with demand right now.
Anyone who is looking for a gaming laptop really needs...
The OP is pretty much on the money as far as everything he has said about AVA...there are way too many horror stories about that place, and Misha especially. I almost fell for their trap...but fortunately I checked out mforce instead for my desktop build a year ago. Glad I didn't fall for...
I highly doubt newegg will carry it, unfortunately. Although there could be a possibility that the egg will get something similiar....but I haven't heard or read any news about it yet.
I wouldn't buy directly from Sager....you can get them from xoticpc.com and gentechpc.com. From what I understand....Sager has bad customer service and everyone who buys the same product from xotic or gentech say they have had nothing but good experiences dealing with them.
Probably pretty terrible...but not sure. I'm assuming around 1.5 hours to 2 hours.
This is if you're talking about the ASUS I linked....the Sony the OP posted I have no clue about the battery life.
If you can move up to a 17" display and can wait a couple of weeks for release...here is a MUCH better laptop....and MUCH better deal for you.

Yup.....sounds typical of what I've experienced and have seen other people complain about. They're full of it. Tell them to substitute for something else and get it quicker if it really is the case.
Oh and the things that they tried to tell me as reasons for the delay were....can't find the cpu in stock (I proved them wrong by emailing them links to newegg for the cpu as in stock), then it changed to the body of the laptop (it was the normal black glossy one without leather....told them...
When I bought my wife's Studio XPS 16, I timed it just right so it would be delivered right before or on her birthday. The week prior to it's initial shipping date they tried to tell me that it would be delayed by almost a month (if I remember correctly...it was over 2 or 3 weeks for sure). I...
They are arguably the best and quickest way to upgrade a computer. I've heard of people having boot times into windows 7 at like 12 seconds! When the prices come down to a more reasonable level I'm pretty sure I'll be getting some for my computers.
Ah gotcha. I'll go ahead and agree with was already posted....if you can wait for the m17x refresh then wait for it with the i7 and then decide which one you'll like better. But if you were going to purchase right now then I'd have to recommend the m15x for sure...simply for the i7. :)
But...
If you're going to use the laptop for classes and such...then the m15x would be better suited for you simply because of the weight. And even then...the m15x isn't exactly light either. lol
So far what I've seen from ASUS recently it doesn't look like the G51 is outclassed in my opinion. The G51JX has that GTS 360m card with ddr5 ram but it is a 128 bit vs. the 256 bit in the current GTX 260m....so it's not a real upgrade. The card that is in the new G73 has a new ati mobile 5870...
You got a good buy in the X3A...the video card will play todays games with relative ease. Would recommend a notebook cooler like the Zalman NC2000 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834998686 to help with keeping the internals cooled while gaming. I get a good 10-15C drop...
I 2nd this option....I have the G51J-A1 and play WoW with it. The game looks great on the screen at 1920 x 1080. The cpu in the X3A will handle WoW easily enough, and don't worry about DDR2 vs. DDR3 for the system memory....it won't make any noticable difference for you.
And yeah...I agree...
But it's still an excellent upgrade to replace the HDD with a SSD, it's not just boot time that will be improved....pretty much anything you do on the computer will be faster. Since the Studio XPS 16 can only hold one hard drive (while still keeping the optical drive of course) it only makes...
I know Best Buy used to sell a base model of both the XPS Studio 13 and 16. You could check out your nearest BB to see them...just to see how they look and feel. You wouldn't want to go with those models of course...just a way to get a feel for them. Lenovo...dunno where you might be able to...
I just recently bought an ASUS G51J-A1 and I'm loving it. I know you said you prefer a 17" screen, but if you're considering a 16" then by all means check out the G51's from ASUS. I went from a 17" ASUS G2S-2B to my G51J-A1 and I don't miss the 1.4" of physical screen size at all. With a...
lol Actually my entire house is wireless now...off of a cheap Linksys g router we got at Best Buy for $60. Granted it's not as much as some people may use at home....four laptops, a desktop, HP printer, and a couple of iPhones...but it still does a great job nevertheless. Much better than...
Even if it does come with the Intel 1000 wifi card it will support wireless n. I have a G51J-A1 with the 1000 and it does have wireless n. Not that I use it....my past experiences with wireless n have been very poor to say the least.
arr4ws...grats on your new laptop! I'm sure you're just as thrilled as I was when I first powered mine on. lol
TommyT...the G51J-A1 doesn't come with a blu-ray player. You might have better luck asking over at notebookreview.com in the asus forums for one that would fit and be compatible...
Coming from a 17" G2S to this G51J, I have to say this is definitely smaller and lighter than my old laptop. But it is large for a 15". My wife has a Dell Studio XPS 1640 and this is a tiny bit bigger than it, and a pound heavier. But really I can't tell the difference in weight. For these...
Not very good. An hour and a half tops on the 6 cell battery that came with it. Which reminds me I have to do a complete discharge here before too long.
I've had mine for a few days now. Ordered it through the 'egg, so mine is just the stock version with no modifications whatsoever. I'll be happy to answer any questions that people have about it as well. Although I'll warn you guys right now...I'm by no means any sort of technical expert on...
