well I have the MA790XT-UD4P motherboard and I updated the bios to F4g which is the newest version aimed at fixing CPU ID# and it was the reason I was able to unlock 2 cores on my x2 550, it came out June 15th so my guess is you should be fine but I'd wait and see from someone who has your board...

I have seen first hand 11/11 x2's unlocked to X4 with significant OC'ing (varying from 3.6-4.0) on standard air cooling so I think that while sure every once in a while there will be an x2 that wont unlock, the high majority of them do so long as you have a capable mobo with the proper bios...

Im not going to sit here and write an obituary for nVidia.... their a very capable company that I'm sure has its reasons for pulling away from AMD (besides its buyout falling through with them lol). This news does however enforce my brand support for AMD and my recent decision to break away...
