It is too bad that the review was not approached in a more professional and pragmatic manner, as I would have enjoyed seeing tests at 240 vac OC, and single rail configuration tested, in addition to the normal run of tests. I never realized that braided cables, single or otherwise were cool...
The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act is not dependant upon, nor has any relation to false advertisement claims. That would be another statutory cause of action altogether. The MMWA, as the title implies, only applies to warranty claims. In layman terms, you return the product because it is defective...
I concur, and I am having a hard time understanding why people are surprised that an AMD card on an AMD platform performs as well or better than the same card on a more capable Intel system. If this were a test of cpu computing power, and people were running multi-thread apps, then I would be...
Thanks for the input, and was thinking along the same lines. IWhen the SRX is released it is going to be diffcult to restrain myself, and most likely I will not.
Bought this new, old stock, and everything is working fine, but the osd will not come up. I am thinking it is locked or otherwise disabled via rs-232 interface, as the monitor was used in custom home theatre installs, and was never sold retail to the public.
Figured I would see if anyone has...
I believe I have the most recent bios, but I admit I have not checked since the release of the 7970. But I will check.
I hear ya, and my thoughts exactly, no diff, why worry, oh yeah cuz I paid money for a board that is 3.0 compliant, and have video cards that are 3.0 compliant, but they do...
Dead Horse, but to thrrow a wreath on it, at least in sandra, the cpu strap shows as a supported feature. To my understanding the strap is controled by the X79 chipset, not the cpu. Finally, the processor has a 150w TDP, indicating an extreme profile, Intel specs reserve the processor for...
First things I do with new builds, install windows, install ethernet driver from disk, update bios to newest version, install drivers, video cards right after Intel info is installed, and everything else in somehat patterned order.
As for the ASRock E9, I have determined that oc'ing to 105 is...
Having a curious issue, that I am having a hard time figuring out due to lack of information on the web. When I enable the GEN3 in bios on my ASRock x79 E9, the system will post and apparently boot to log in screen, but this a guess because the monitors go in power save for lack of signal from...
The experience with CFX so far is great. I have not had any stuttering or other rendering issues, but I did experience lock down last night after a couple of hours playing Arkham City in eyefinity. I decided I wanted to play more, so I went ahead and cranked up the fans to 100% manually...
Thumbnail pics are too small, cannot make out what you are attempting to show. I have resolved myself to the fact that it is not the board, but the processor itself. Even though it puzzles me how it could work on one cpu and not the next given that the x79 chip is what controls the strap. It...
I say upgrade every year, sell off your old system, and you will find the cost is less than you imagine. I usually only take about a 20% hit, and I budget 2.5k for my builds. Last year I broke even. Do I need to? of course not, but thats because I keep current on whats in my box. I enjoy the...
I provided Sandra scores above, were you looking for something else? Latency is going to be an issue, as the 20mb is shared across 8 cores, rather than 15 across 6. The ratio is the same 2.5 to 1.
Correction: Just noted that I did not provide cache latency, just bandwidth, but question...
I agree with the case being the problem, not the cards. I own the same case, and while it does have great air flow, it lacks a bit in the pci area. You could always just use one of the various rear aftermarket bracket fans for the exhaust running perpendicular to the pcie slots.
After being a faithful purchaser of NV products for the last 10 years, I finally decided to give ATI another chance, and purchased a couple of the 7970 Sapphire cards. The 28nm architecture coupled with power management features and performance indicated ATI cards may be a viable solution...

Running 32gb all 8 banks x 4gb Quad DDR3-1984 11-11-11-30 CR2
Note: Not going to wow anyone with these scores, but utilizing all banks, in addition to not being able to run the memory at 2133 it...
Nice to see a review that notes the functionality of the BLCK, as it seems the reviews these days do not cover oc'ing in depth as of old. After reading many reviews in deciding this years build, most just passed over the oc'ing features with a reference to how high the multiplier could be set...
I clean install new builds myself, as it avoids unnecessary long term hassle with ghosts in the machine. Make sure all your data is stored on seconday storage drives, put W7 on USB drive, along with all the recent drivers you are going to install, and do fresh install I say.
I purchased two, and I have not purchased AMD card in long time, but looking forward to playing around with the 7970s. AMD seems to have put substantial effort into these cards. Would not surprise me if they already have a 7990 waiting backstage, along with a revision once NV shows its hand...
Sure, no problem. Not up an running at the moment, as I am hooking up a controller to my cooling system as a final touch. 8 cores at 5 ghz would be phenomenal.:)
Came across another thread in forums, which dicussed the very same problem I am having. Definitely not the board, just something inherent in the chip itself or a limitor in the x79 chip set. Maybe when it comes out retail, and all the bios and intel info is updated it will allow the BLCK to be...
I can confirm that the Xeon 3.0 behaves the same way, anything over 107 and it starts to affect the pcie bus, and the vid card driver corrupts and gives a error 43. I do not believe it is because the chip cannot handle more, but because the x79 chipset does not work the same way with the Xeon...
I am not sure how you are getting the board to post with a 125mhz BLCK, because while the straps for the memory are in place, there does not appear to be any way to clamp the pcie bus to 100mhz.
Could you please run cpuid and provide link so I can look at your system specs? Maybe it will...
I am glad people are finding the info valuable.
The chip is awesome at stock speeds, system is totally stable, nothing glitching, etc..So I should be very pleased. But there is that devil in me that wants to crank it up to see what it can do, and I never thought I would be saying this, but...
Cinebench 11.5 Score: 12.48 cpu; 47.06 fps OpenGL. Ranked Number 1 and 2 respectively, at least according to the program. I dont see any SB-E retail showing up though.
I tried the 125 Blck, along with various voltage tweaks and different BLCk, and none worked. As I understand the notation of the FSB Host Clock field in bios, if the BLCK is 112, or less, PCI is strapped to 100.anything greater than 112 to 130 something is strapped to 133. Not one review went...
I have the processor that you all have probably seen being sold or otherwise discussed in other forums. Its a 3.0 Xeon Sandy Bridge-E5 150w TDP 8 cores/16 thread LGA 2011 Intel confidential. I have run it through its paces, and I have to say I am impressed. Unfortunately, I went with a ASRock...
BTW, I will say this for ASRock, the only complaint I have about this board is the FSB issue. If you don not oc, and want a board that has all the features you could wish for, then this board is for you. But it is not an overclocking king, more like an overclocking eunuch, that appears to be...
So my 2012 build is done, or at least for now, and of course it did not go without some glitches. I chose the ASRock board because of its plentiful and quality power distribution and the 8 sata3 ports. As the board was advertised as the overclocking king, it is not, for one very simple and...
Meant to acknowledge the link specifically, and you're right it is a solution, but have tried the order direct from main, and from my experience they always want you to buy at least ten in order to make it worth their while.
I am very pleased with the STP67, and I was running a RE3 before. I have not had any problems except for sleep/hibernate, no problems with CP prob, and I just received the B3 replacement. No probs with the replacement. I wanted maximus too, but price and availability forced me to go with...
Thanks for the replies. All the cases that I have looked at have a cable, but of course none have the header connector. Would be nice to have front panel access without routing a cable to the external connector, guess will just have to wait.
I have been waiting for Asus to actually make a front panel connector for the USB 3.0 on the STP67, and still cannot find one for sale or otherwise available through google. Anyone happen to know if someone is producing the cable, and if so, could you provide link.
I could not get good contact with mounting of TRUE, so I did something similar by using a back plate gasket from a koolance wb that I had laying around, and it worked wonders for contact and temps.
