That was the same as mine, but it will still grind against the nickel finish. I threw on some electrical tape onto the VRM heatsink where it touches as padding just to be sure.
Pretty sure I saw it in this thread, but I didn't save it so I'm not 100% sure.
Saw an NCASE where the guy had plugged up all the unused motherboard I/O slots with dust caps, the hard plastic kind you get with GPUs that have the pull tabs. Anyone know where to get a set of those?
Loving the look of this, and sandblasted panels too, which the NCASE couldn't end up doing! I really dislike how easily dirtied looking brushed aluminium gets so this is awesome.
Agree with comments elsewhere - reverse the PSU if that's how we're doing this. I don't want the fan spinning up for...
Ultimately, while you probably feel I'm being a very harsh critic, it is only because this case is so damn close to perfect, like 99%, that the remaining 1% is glaringly obvious. With most other cases there's a tonne of niggles and faults everywhere that you just don't care as long as it looks...
Fair enough. I did see your ATX project but didn't comment on it since ATX no longer interests me - too big. No interest in water-cooling either so the case does nothing for me like the M1 did. It might be handy if I was building an x299 or TR system, but with Coffee Lake I don't need to worry...
I believe steel is required if you really want this case to be 'end game'. It's no good if you strip it even once, and there's a lot of chances to do that over many years. I believe around 8000 cases have shipped, but not everyone will report on their experiences. The biggest change Necere could...
So, coming back to this. Other than having to redo the dimensions to account for 0.8mm steel over 1.5mm aluminium, what else would you need to change? I spoke to an engineer I know about all this and he said it isn't true that you couldn't countersink a screw with a thinner material - you most...
Hey guys,
Anyone got links to good replacements screws? Need to build soon and I'd rather not use the ones that come with it as I've heard too many dubious things about the quality. Wouldn't want any accidents.
That is because AIB cards intake air and blow it onto the heatsink. You were basically creating an air vacuum of sorts by having fans exhaust when the fans of the GPU are trying to pull air in to cool the card.
Ref/AIB = Intake
Accelero = Exhaust.
You should still flip the fans and have them as exhaust, the consensus is the temps are best that way. You shouldn't be getting temps in the 70s at all.
My complaint about the frame robustness mainly comes from the fact that mine arrived wobbly - when I emailed I was shown a video on bending it 'back into place'. That was pretty alarming, and I tried it after getting some free time just a couple of days ago - can't get it straight. The fact you...
Hi,
Nice to see a quick response.
I don't think it would have been a minor revision, no. Steel would have to be for an M2 or something, as it would be an absurd ask to make the v6 have such a dramatic change. It is just that the stripping is always going to be a huge future concern...
Why limited edition? You mean as a bundle and not just the panels separate?
Also, here are some critical suggestions I have for the NCASE:
1.) The aluminium frame was a mistake, IMO. It is too flexible compared to a rigid steel one and because it is so soft and thin I have serious concerns...
Based on someone who owns the EVGA hybrid kit, the tubes are quite flexible. The tubing looks similar, so I asked someone who owns a kit if it would be possible to bend the tubes like we see in some of the photos here. They said it should fit.
I'm hopeful, but someone needs to give it a shot...
Hi,
Has anyone tried using the EVGA CLC 120 in an NCASE? It's the only Gen 5 Asetek pump that's 120mm and a normal thickness of rad. As gen 5 pumps are actually quiet, this could be the solution to double AIO without the nouse problems.
Does anyone else notice their feet not being entirely level? Notice it wobbles on my desk. Sure, you can untwist it a bit but they become incredibly loose instantly.
Hrm...
Yeah, I'm sending mine off to get stripped and powder coated before I build. That way it'll hold up nicely. I'm mostly just checking that the frame isn't warped or damaged anywhere before I go voiding any warranties.
Too bad I can't do anything about the blemishes to the panels though - just...
Finally opened up my NCASE and gave it the old quality inspection. Frame looks okay from what I could quickly see, but bah. I do hate brushed aluminium - impossible to avoid little blemishes here or there. Thankfully nothing visible unless you look for it, but annoying to know it is there...
You should try switching the GT's out for some NF-F12s then. I'm sure if the stock Accelero was somehow better then we'd all be defaulting to that instead of wasting money on extra fans. It has long been a consensus that the double fan exhausting was the single best air cooling method in this...
Huh. I had no idea stock Accelero fans managed to fit in the NCASE. Why haven't you tried setting your GTs as exhausts in place of the stock fans against the accelero? What temps do you get then? Might be quieter and lower the temps even more.
Also is that an EVGA backplate? Does it not...
So, received my V5 yesterday, still in its box till I get time to open it up though.
I've bought the Noctua NF-A15 to cool the C14, and will get NF-F12s for the bottom as an exhaust for the accelero. However, for the fan next to the A15, should I just get another static pressure optimised F12...
Maybe on paper but I doubt that translates to reality. Wasn't talking about a bottom 120mm, I meant a 120mm on the side bracket alongside the 140mm. When not using the side bracket you can't use a filter, no?
Almost. Those cards are okay if you're stuck with stock, but they're noisy. An Accelero Xtreme setup with fans exhausting out the bottom will give you the best temps and the best noise ratio.
It is, but AIO is definitely noisy compared to air. You just can't get rid of that pump noise unless you have other background noise going on. I was hoping you were under custom water since I'm not arguing against AIO if you want to do it, just the sheer effort/expense of a custom loop.
What parts did you use (pictures would be nice) and how much cost did it come to?
I've seen 6700ks at 4.5GHz that didn't breach 60c stresses on a Cryorig M9i, so eh. Granted the 6700k was delidded but if you're that anal about cooling you should be doing that where you can.
If you want to vet...
I've yet to see results for a 6600k and a 1070 under an accelero heatsink temps either. I always see 6700ks and 1080s.
So here are the main downsides to doing this: more noise (you're limited to small pumps which have to run at higher speeds compared to say a D5), expensive, and the temps just...
Hi,
Does anyone know what paint the frame uses? Wanting to strip it off and powder coat, since the finish on the frame is absolutely terrible and strips way too easily (you can see it in pretty much every build picture). I tried emailing Lian-Li but I think they just ignored that email.
