That's ips glow, and I think the camera makes it look more pronounced than it actually is. You can ask for a replacement. but it will probably behave the same.

what hp monitor is that ? it seems larger than 30" :D

It seems more like IPS glow than bleeding to be honest. If what you see as backlight bleed changes while you move your head left/right or up/down relative to the screen, than it is indeed ips glow and not backlight bleed...and the glow is normal for all ips screens that do not possess an ATW...

Matte black paint is part of the buzz for this type of display, not everyone wants fingerprints and bezel reflection on the monitor.

It might sport a different panel, otherwise i don't see why hp would charge more for this display, compared to the dell u2412 .

Given the lack of display port, it's safe to assume that the news article is erroneous. Also 27" and 1920x1200 for 1000 euros is a bit too overpriced at this time :).

4 of the 5 displays in that link are 1920x1080, i wasn't referring to the entire display market :|. You seem to miss something, any display that has, let's say 10000 pixels on it's length will have more pixels on it's height if it sports a ratio of 16:10, and less if it is 16:9. There is...

Offtopic: Huh ? 16:9 is just the aspect ration, it could have more or less res than a 16:10 display, or any other format. Ontopic: these aren't targeted to consumers, we will probably see more affordable oled monitors/tvs in 2012. Hopefully, they won't start marketing displays with white oled...

The u2410 wasn't that much better. It had a scaler, and nicer looks, but in sRGB mode it fared similar to the u2412.

Your 24" 2405 has a vertical res of 1200, not 1280 pixels :). If you want a 27" display you should consider one with an ips panel, like the dell u2711, with a res of 2560x1440 pixels. The ones that sport only 1080 vertical pixels have TN panels...with massive drawbacks.

@QwaarJet, the central monitor seems to be much brighter than the other two in the video. Is that how they are to you, or does the camera play with my eyes :D ? I ask because I want to compare the subjective image quality at same brightness, relative to your 3007. Could you post a video that...

@khwain, you are correct, though i don't see why they'd make both 23" and 24" 16:9 displays. You are correct on the H suffix as well.

P2412H - 24" VA panel, replacement for the P2411H - Aug/Sept P2312H - 23" VA panel, replacement for the P2311H - Nov/Dec This would imply that the 24" will be 16:10.

Can you observe any dithering or color banding ? What about gradients ?

The zr24w uses an 8 bit panel, so the u2412 must use a different one.

The u2410 and pa246q are wide gamut display(they cover the adobe rgb space), however, most windows based application do not support wide gamut, only srgb, this will translate into overly saturated and unrealistic colors, and although they do have the option to emulate the srgb color space, it is...

I'd recommend the zr24w instead of those two, as it is standard gamut, and seems to have less screen uniformity issues.

Meh, I like the looks of the u2311h/u2410/zr24w more...this one looks cheap. Also, 6 bit + dithering and edge lit led might make it a worse display than the u2311h, even if the latter has only 1080 vertical pixels.

Your view of the pc world is quite limited if you consider that everything is 16:9. Some do more than just play console games and watch movies. Also, 16:10 can do those two just as well as any 16:9 display. :)

You take the view of someone who considers graphics as paramount to enjoying a pc game, i prefer things such as story, consistency regarding the game lore, carefully designed gameplay. Graphic realism comes somewhere near the last place. A beautifully drawn 2d environment could top the realism...

The u2311h has ccfl backlight, though it's true that is sports a 6 bit panel that produces minor dithering artifacts. Still better than any TN panel, even than those 120 hz ones...in my opinion at least :)

There is a market for that sort of things ? :eek: Oled tech might give us 4k horizontal pixels on TVs, though i'm not sure i'd buy a 4k pixel wide monitor unless it's less than 30" in physical size.

EA231WMi is about the same age as u2311h, but is uses an 8 bit panel, so if you want true color, this is the one for you, though the u2311h isn't far behind the nec. I don't like the lg and the newer nec simply because they use edge led backlighting, which results in worse uniformity. They...

The same problems that you see in today's ips screens, were also found in the past variation of ips screens. The thing is that back then, not many people could afford them, so they were less vocal about it. Not even the Necs with ATW polarizers weren't "perfect", they also had tinting, AG...

This is silly, one might comment that the previous generation of panels was also "perfect". Also, marketing for a new product creates hype, and this leads to new buyers(even if said product uses the same panel). I expect to see an update to older models till winter.

All ips screens behave more or less the same, since no company that i know of uses ATW polarizers anymore. e-ips does seem to have slight worse viewing angles than other in plane switching panels though.

Or he prefers a more business or industrial look, like the eizo or nec monitors :rolleyes:. Still wishing these things come with ccfl backlight !
