They are clearly selling used phones and not advertising them as such. They're also selling locked phones advertised as unlocked. One buyer even complained that Amazon sold him a phone that was stolen. Seems like Amazon is a bad place to buy a phone. :(
I have Plex Server installed on my media server which is running Windows. As far as I can tell, all is well with it. I can access it from and client web browser but There's a problem. I need to be able to scroll using the up and down arrow keys. but apparently this is an alien concept to Plex...
In trying to troubleshoot this problem I managed to kill my internet connection and had to use Timeshift to get it back. :(
Below are a couple of screen shots that might provide a clue as to what the problem may be. TIA for any assistance you may offer. :)
I'm using the Connect to Server command in Nemo to connect to mainly Windows shares and it works well but even tho I check the remember password box it doesn't seem to remember anything. Is there a way to establish connections and have them remembered? Like Remmina does so from then on it's just...
Linux Mint Cinnamon.
A couple of days ago it updated the kernel to 6.5.0-15-generic. today there's a kernel update to 5.15.0-92.102.
Looks like a downgrade to me. Anybody know what's going on? Should I stick with what I have or install the "update" ?
Google sucks worse and worse...
Linux assigns monitor 0 as the monitor connected to the HDMI port. The other monitor is connected to the DP port and is monitor 1. Nothing will change this, it's set in concrete as far as I can tell. If I could reverse it, it night solve my problem.
My problem is Linux insists on opening most...
I'm looking for a monitor with a VESA mount. The kind that bolts to a monitor arm. Viewsonic seems to be the only brand that advertises that their monitor have a VESA mount. But I'm wondering about all the "Wall Mountable" monitors that are out there. Can these be used with a standard monitor...
Stupid move on their part as far as I'm concerned. I went looking for either a replacement or a way to make the old photo viewer work with Win 10 and above. I found that both were possible and settled on a free program called "Honeyview". It's basically the same as the old photo viewer and is...
I have a Supermicro X12STL-IF mini ITX motherboard with a mangled, destroyed CMOS battery holder. I'm trying to replace the holder but I can't get 2 of the 3 broken off pegs to let go of the holes. One came out fairly easily but the other 2 won't let go. Soldering iron gets plenty hot and I'm...
This particular Windows 7 install dated back to when 7 first came out so to say the least it was dated. 2 things kept me from doing it before now. I have a Dymo label printer hooked to it along with a Fujitsu scanner. I knew there was no software available for either but decided to see if there...
Trying to install Balena-Etcher on Linux Mint and I've run into what appears to be some code monkey stupid shitedness.
The instructions say
sudo apt install ./balena-etcher_******_amd64.deb
Linux Mint says
E: Unsupported file ./balena-etcher_******_amd64.deb given on commandline

I've tried VLC which as usual is qa steaming pile of shit. It pretends to save it but it really doesn't. No surprise, VLC has always been a steaming pile of shit.
I've tried Audacity. It will allow me to edit the metadata but apparently saves only apply to audio and not video.
Googling reveals...
Debian login requires you enter the user name and the password. Is there any way to change this to password only? In other words, make it like all other distros.
TIA :)
Computer cables are either too long or too short, never just right. Ordered a couple of SAS breakout cables. Thought 1.6 foot was long enough. Nope, they're about 2 inches too short. Now I gotta order the 3 foot versions which will be too long. Why Lord, why? :(
I've never had an OS that updates as frequently as Mint does. Some days it's an all day affair, one update after another all day long. Today has started out with a kernel update. Never had a problem with an update and most don't require a reboot so I'm not complaining, just making an observation.
I run across this crap all the time.
I just bought 2 2TB SAS 12G hard drives from eBay for $15 each with free shipping. Both drives are pristine with low mileage. They're EMC drives so I had to use sg_utils to format them to 512 but that's no big deal.
Just found another seller selling the...
What's a good HTPC program? Don't need a lot of bells and whistles, just a basic easy to use program that will manage my media collection and retrieve info from the web.
TIA
Linux Mint Cinnamon fully up to date.
Computer it cannot see is a FreeNAS Core box. I can see it and log in just fine from a Debian box but not my mint box. And it does not show up in Angry IP Scanner.
I suspect it will eventually show up on it's own but how can I force Mint to actually look...
I've slogged through all the steps to get a ntfs drive mounted but it isn't showing up in Nemo. I can access it in a round about way through Preferences -> Disks but this won't work, I need it to show up in Nemo.
TIA
Actually I need it to sow in Backup Tool.
Never mind. Found the answer on...
I attempted to backup my daily driver to a Windows Server and the transfer rate was worse than abysmal. It literally took 3 minutes to copy one song. I then aborted and did a regular copy of the backup and it proceeded normally, speed was quite good. Is this the nature of the beast or did I do...
Totally fucking useless and stupid.
When you want to capture a selection that you need to scroll down the web page to get to the stupid fucking program jumps back to the top of the page when you hit "Selection" and there's no way to move back down the page to make the selection. :dead:
Google comes up with a jillion references to WIRELESS network and nothing for wired.
I have a TrueNAS box that Windows is seeing as "truenas" even tho the host name is "Scale". Linux shows it properly. I need to remove the password Windows 7 has stored for "truenas".
TIA
I have one TrueNas box running Core and I'm putting together another and need to decide if maybe scale would be a better choice. As i understand it, Core is kinda sucky when it comes to Jails and addins whereas Core isn't. At this point I really don't use the OS for anything other than a NAS but...
I don't mind auto correct, if I misspell a word, sure, correct it. But why the hell does the iPhone change correctly spelled words to suit whatever horseshit political agenda Apple may have?
Is there a way to keep auto correct but tell it not to fuck with words that aren't misspelled?
I'm currently running Linux Mint Cinnamon and was wondering what I'd be missing if I switched to Debian. Both mint and Ubuntu are based on Debian, wondering what these bring to the table that Debian lacks.
TIA :)
Just installed a caddyless HDD rack in my main system, Linux Mint latest version all updates installed. It's connected to the on board SAS controller on the X9SRH-7F motherboard. I put a 2TB SAS HD in it that was previously in a Windows system and it showed up in Nemo just like it's supposed to...
All the instructions I've found via Google are garbage, they don't work? :dead:
sparkey@sparkey-X9SRH-7F-7TF:~$ sudo apt install snapd
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
Package snapd is not available, but is referred to by another...
I have a 6TB HD with a busted connector. If (I know it's a big if) I can find the same board can I just replace it and the will it work properly? Data on the drive is of no concern.
TIA
Bought a Lenovo M600 Tiny from eBay and it came with Windows 10 pro loaded on a 500GB spinner. I want to transfer by doing a fresh install to a SDD and have a couple of questions.
1. How do I tell if the license is embedded in the BIOS and if it is can I just do a fresh install and not have to...
I go to DNS Server Settings in pfSense and set the DNS Servers to Cloudflare. I then go to https://www.top10vpn.com/tools/what-is-my-dns-server/ at it shows my DNS Server as my isp.
Can someone please explain this stupidness? How the can can you set the DNS servers and then pfSense overrides...
Can't get it to work. :(
I can find instructions via Googled but they all appear to apply to other versions, not the version I have (the latest). I'm seeing settings that are not in my version. I've tried everything I can and still can't get it to work. Previously I was using PfSense and had no...
