Thanks! Yeah it's my baby despite the bumps. I forgot to mention that it just came back from a CPS cleaning and inspection. The files it produces are amazing :)
My 5D Mark II body with a little under 52,000 actuations. In excellent working condition. Comes with a genuine Canon BG-E6 battery grip (some wear marks on the corners), a genuine Canon battery, and all of the original packaging and accessories for both.
Asking $1250 shipped in Canada. Add $15...
Agreed, the usable ISO on my 7D is about half that of my 5D2! The current generation of Canon sensors seem a lot better than previous ones, but Sony (makers of image sensors for Nikon, Pentax, etc.) had leapfrogged them in noise performance over the last 5yrs or so.
I think Fuji is the company...
You have to nail your exposure in camera if you want to avoid dealing with noise in post. Meter for the shadows and recover your slightly blown highlights in post.
There is more image data available for your software to use in the highlights than in the shadows, so follow the Expose To The...
Are you actually considering upgrading from an entry level consumer camera to Canon's flagship professional sports camera? There's gonna be a learning curve!
Here's a comparison site that shows the two cameras head-to-head: http://camerarocket.com/cameras/Canon-Rebel-T3i-vs-Canon-EOS-1D-X
I think moving from crop to FF is only advantageous when you've hit the limit of what the lenses available for crop bodies can provide. I think it's only worth the investment if all your zooms are f/2.8 and you've got a good lineup of fast primes but STILL crave:
a) shallower depth of field...
Honestly a FF body will have a relatively minor impact on the look of your images given your current lenses. It'll make them wider (Your 19-35 going into the ultra-wide category), but you still won't get much of a shallow depth of field effect from any of them due to their slow apertures.
With...
Personally, I'd keep the T2i body, sell all of your current slow/soft glass (except maybe the fisheye), and replace it with some better quality / faster aperture lenses.
At the top of my list would be the inexpensive Sigma or Tamron 17-50 f/2.8, and then maybe look at great bang-for-buck fast...
There's already a comparison video between the 5DIII raw video alpha and the Blackmagic cinema camera, most agree the raw/dng video comes out on top: http://vimeo.com/66170436
The problem with using something like a 5DIII or 5DII for video, especially at higher ISOs, is the very limited dynamic...
Right, the key is to make sure you don't clip in either direction (highlights or shadows). Use the clipping warnings in camera or look at your histogram to make sure none of it spikes past the top of the chart or is trimmed off either the left or right edges. That being said, exposing to the...
Yup, there's a big debate about interpolated ISOs vs. native ISOs. The fact is that there are many comparisons showing that the multiples of 160 are the cleanest as far as luminance noise goes. Regardless of how we arrive to them, they look cleanest straight out of the camera. By selecting one...
I shoot RAW without jpeg - what's the point of doubling up when you can make a jpeg in your conversion software or in camera as needed? I leave HTP turned off but enable the blinking warnings. I'm a fan of Spot AF and using the joystick to set my AF point, it's the most accurate and the AF...
This is an internal PCI-Express X4 hardware RAID controller for having your mass storage within your PC case. The advantage of having an internal storage array vs. an external network or USB enclosure is primarily speed, as the normal bottlenecks are no longer present with the PCI-E bus.

I'm happy with my 5D Mark II, but I need to replace my 2nd body before the wedding season this summer so I might as well upgrade! I'm thinking it'll probably be the 6D, though I'll jump on a 5D Mark III if I find one I can afford.
Sold my Infrared camera and a bunch of film gear... On the lookout for a nice mirrorless setup to convert before the summer!

I've got a similar backup procedure:
- Images pulled off cards directly onto my main storage RAID5 array (3x3TB WD RED)
- CR2, JPG, PSD, TIF, and MOV files are automatically copied directly onto my secondary RAID5 array (5x750GB Samsung Raid Class)
- cards aren't formatted until they come up...
I'm just getting to the point now where the better models are seeking me out on Facebook and ModelMayhem. The more you post the more recognized you become in the community.
On that note, I have to say I'm really enjoying my recent experiments with boudoir :)
So I tried my hand at boudoir for the first time ever last weekend, here are the first few edits:
For some reason I couldn't convince this one to take her clothes off... ;)
Living in Canada, I avoid UPS whenever possible. Their brokerage fees are almost 3 times more than USPS or any other courier and also tend to get held up in customs for longer than anyone else.
Nothing like paying $40 in brokerage fees on a $25 item from Amazon when they could have shipped it...
Just got a pair of White Lightning X1600 strobes, along with a bunch of modifiers (beauty dish, large & med soft boxes, 86" PLM, umbrellas) and a vagabond. I'm excited to go play with it all!
[edit] also just ordered a new-to-me 70-200 f/2.8L IS II.... Wow I need to slow down. lol :p

I've had my converted camera for a little over a year now and the only time I've seen the see-through clothes effect is with very sheer fabric like scarves, silk, etc. when strongly backlit. In these cases the material was pretty much translucent in the visible spectrum as well.
The weird...
The main reason I'd dismiss Sony is because of their wacky proprietary flash hotshoe that severely limits your access to lights and radio triggers. Otherwise their sensors are quite good (they manufacture Nikon's sensors). The current lens selection is okay but not spectacular.
I'd very much...

Playing with my ancient Mamiya Super 23 medium format film camera again. This time I shot my first ever roll of slide film (Fuji Provia 400X) while chasing my kid around a playground and my back yard:
The Tonka truck ones were shot wide open with an ND filter and an off-camera 580EX II to...
