I have a passkey set, but haven't turned in 10 WU's yet.
Task manager shows all 4 cores at 100%. 25% is being used by the GPU core.
This is a mobile cpu clocked at 2.1ghz
Cold weather always seems to bring out my need to Fold so I fired up my one and only machine.
The last time I was pushing WU's, it was with an i7 and a GTX480. Now it is with a Phenom II X4 N950 and HD 6650M. At least the 6650M is overclocked ;-). I am using the new client.
I won't make a huge...
Skip the sli on the 260 and take everyone elses advice to go 4 or 5 series. I sold my gtx260 for $100 last month and picked up a perfect gtx 480 for $230. I couldnt be happier.
I just sold my 295 as well.
I will be buying a 470 once the Folding client for them is released. I don't have much gaming use for it, so I can wait until the GPU3 client rolls around. If anything, they will get cheaper, cooler, and faster in the meantime.
I know its pretty inexpensive to...
I am going to go ahead and sell my BFG GTX 295. I bought it off here about a month ago and it ended up needing RMA. I got the card back from RMA, tested it for about a week, and now I am selling it. I want to get a 400 series card to mess around with.
It is 100% working. I ran it clocked at...
Heres another folding performance perspective: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1258/14/
13k PPD for the 480 is less than my overclocked 295. Not to mention my 295 only gets to 80c. Hmmmm...
I haven't had any problems since I fired my GTX 295 up a short while ago. Core is 640mhz and shaders are running 1415mhz.
I am REALLY interested to see the folding performance of a GTX 470 versus my 295. That will determine if the 295 goes up for sale or not.
Just an update... card was bad. Got new card today, put on dummy plug, clocked it to 650mhz, followed Stanfords multi gpu setup and its been chugging away since.
With my rig issues, Musky and Elsie1999 are gaining quite rapidly. It was all offline for 2 days and now I am without the GTS 250. Hopefully the GTX 295 will come back at 100% in a week or two as well!
Has anyone else had their VM -bigadv machines start pulling A3 units?
My log shows the last bigadv unit I pulled could be sent (could not transmit to collection server) and eventually it downloaded the new core and started rolling with that.
Heres a snapshot of the log:
This is with a single GPU install just trying to get 1 instance running. Once the first "unstable machine" hits, the screen blinks, and the card downclocks to 400mhz. Before that it runs at full (576mhz) 3d speeds. Once it blinks and goes to 400mhz, it will not...
It runs FurMark 1.8.0 xtreme burn test with no issue as well. Full 3d mode kicks in, clocks go to where they should, and both cores are at 100% usage.
I can also disable SLI after another fresh install of drivers.
Still no folding.
Folding seems to be causing the driver crash. After the screen blinks and folding shows unstable machine, the card will not clock above 400mhz if I fire up 3dmark.
The card runs 3dmark just fine with no errors or visible artifacts.
Now I am just confused.
I am going to stick with 7 for sure. Shouldn't it at least get going on one of the GPUs? I am going to try the dummy plugs soon, but I figured I could at least get 1 instance going.
same result... either way.
I downloaded the OCCT gpu tester and it runs, but has a few thousand errors after only a few min. Could something be up with the card?
Monitor is plugged into the main DVI on the GTX 295. It is a dual PCB.
It downloads a work packet, starts working, then the monitor flashes once very quickly (a blink), and folding stops with unstable machine.
Light on back of card is green.
I got my GTX 295 in the mail today and am having some troubles getting it folding.
I don't have dummy plugs yet so I have just been testing, but im a bit concerned that even 1 instance of the client throws back "unstable machine". This is just simply downloading and installing the GPU client...
I will have a GTX 295 coming online late next week. My first ever dedicated folding purchase. As soon as I can find a decent price on another one, i'll pick a 2nd up. Once the 295 is churning however, I will be taking my PS3 offline. 900ppd is hard to justify from 200 watts.
I hate losing...
I'm speaking in uncharted territory for me here, but from what i've read, in Windows 7, you need to have a monitor or a "dummy plug" hooked to the extra cards to get them folding. Otherwise it does what you are experiencing.
See here...
Is there a monitor or dummy plug on the 2nd card?
Side note... I thought folding with 2 different chipset cards really messed things up and killed ppd of the more powerful card...??
I'm looking to add some Folding ppd and im specifically looking for:
GTX 260 216sp 55nm
or
GTX 295 (the newer the better)
I will throw it out there that I am extremely "frugal" and won't overpay especially since it will be used 100% of the time for Folding. It looks like GTX 260...
