I have 2 LG 43" 4k displays, both with similar LG IPS panels. A 43UF7600 HDTV that I'd estimate being powered up for 16k hours hours since 2015. It spent 2-3 years in storage, but was put back into service this year. The other is a 43UD79 Monitor, that has around 20k powered on hours since...
The main issue with USB KVMs is that non-standard, or near standard peripherals abound. It's trivial to make a switch that just switches, but the delay makes them unbearable to use in real time. So most usable switches have some form of device emulation, which is pretty much never perfect...
I can't justify UPS power for all my mining gear, but I am looking at maybe getting a whole house surge protector. Not only do you have to pay for the UPS, but then you lose around 5-10% efficiency using it.
If you really really really want a UPS, then look for a like a 208/230/240v, single...
Holding onto a story about how a specific chain of transactions lost money, and then thinking about the future in terms of that story, is one of the most prevalent investing fallicies.
With investing, what matters is:
1. The future.
2. The entirety of your finances.
Investing well boils down...
The difference this time is that all the new proof of work algorithms are designed to be ASIC resistant. This was done primarily by using algorithms that require lots of high bandwidth memory. So any ASIC design would likely only be 1.5x-5x faster per unit cost, rather than the 10-1000+ x...
Before "cheap" 4k monitors were everywhere, ultrawides were worth considering. That window closed sometime between 2015 and earlier this year, depending on your definition of cheap.
A 40-48" 4k panel can function both as an awesome 3840x2160 productivity monitor, and a super immersive 21:9...
I use Innovative Office Products Model 7500-1500 arms, along with whatever adapter I need. They supposedly handle anywhere from 13.5 - 44 pounds. I originally sourced them years ago when I was using 30" 2560x1600 monitors, that very few arms could support the weight of.
When I put my new...
Since my last update. I have noticed a bit of the screen going blank from time to time. It seems to affect all 4 monitors I have hooked up though, so I think it's the video card. Possibly a driver update changed how the card, a GTX 980 Ti, changes power states.
But more annoyingly, I've...
https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15650 Is reported to work well, it should let you connect 2 cables for a 20-30' run.
I have also had some luck with: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M65D1PF Which should be able to achieve similar 2 cable run lengths. I tested it with a 6' and a...
Windows fonts look bad, I disabled cleartype, and they still look bad. If I also go into Performance Options and turn of Smooth edges of Screen fonts, then some fonts look a bit better. Most windows fonts at most sizes, are simply not pixel perfect without some sort of anti-aliasing/smoothing...
I gave it a go. Turned off GPU scaling. Fired up a game at 1080p. If I turn off anti-aliasing, edges on graphics are very blocky, which I think shows that no interpolation is occuring. Fonts look a bit smoothed no matter what, but I think that's just windows cleartype doing it's thing. I...
On the one hand, yes, they're both 4k displays. But on the other hand, the size disparity makes them almost completely different in their use cases. I personally currently have zero use for a sub 40" 4k monitor on a desktop PC. Windows still has too many gotchas with using display DPIs much...
Having a 43" 4k monitor is basically the exact same thing as having 4 22" 1080p monitors in a 2x2 grid, without any bezels getting in the way between them.
A 27" 4k monitor is basically like having a 27" 1440p-ish screen, but with the ability to have sharper text and graphics.
Of course...
I just gave it a go. It's hard to get a picture that shows what is going on. If you can see the whole monitor there's not enough detail, and if you can see the detail, you lose the context.
But here are some pictures of older Korean monitors which have LG IPS panels with basically the same...
I think I can see what you mean by the trail varying with brightness, but it's pretty subtle. If it's worse than my zr2740w, it isn't much worse. And I haven't noticed any eye strain or other issues, and I've been using it a lot.
I've had issues like this with marginal cables using my...
It's basically a matte monitor version of the LG 43UF7600 HDTV.
Subjectively it's fine, nothing is jumping out at me as particularly annoying or broken yet. Once UHD was on 4:4:4 just worked, one thing that helps is I already have known good HDMI 2.0 cables.
The lag certainly isn't worse...
It came today. The box was a little beat up, some parts of the stand had come lose from their slots in the styrofoam packing material. But the display itself was still protected. I stuck a VESA 200 mounting plate on it and swapped it in, in place of the 43UF7600.
screen edge:
The bottom does...
I ordered it Wednesday afternoon. It supposedly shipped UPS ground. The UPS tracking estimate originally showed a Monday delivery, but it has been updated to tomorrow. It shipped from New Jersey, and I'm in Ohio. I'd guesstimate UPS ground would take an additional 2-3 days to get from New...
The 582 includes $64.70 worth of ebay bucks. I buy things at ebay often enough that they're almost as good as cash for me. Most of the ebay bonus offers are targeted, they seem to either go after people who haven't used ebay in a while, or people that use it all the time. I mentioned it in...
I gave in and ordered one today... even though there are no professional reviews of Input lag and such yet. Adorama has it for $647 on both their site and ebay. And ebay has a 10% ebay bucks promotion today. I couldn't pass it up at $582.
I think the shadow effect is limited to LG IPS panels. I know my TV has it, and the various 43" crossovers with a similar panel had it. Hoping the 43UD79 doesn't have it, but I haven't heard yet. It wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me if it did though.
My LG 43UF7600 exhibits the shadow effect, but it's really only noticeable on the left and right. I have to get to within a foot to start losing pixels on the top or bottom. But I'm still missing a line or 2 on the left and right at 4-5 feet back.
When using windowed apps it's not a...
I believe that particular model has a VA panel. VA panels have innate issues with uniformity and color shifting as viewing angle changes, especially within 5 feet or so.
VA panels provide better contrast, and can be superior to IPS displays for movies and video games. But for text work they...
I've been using an LG 43UF7600 for just shy of 2 years. It's not perfect, but in that time, the only other 40-43" I've known of, that I think I might've enjoyed more, was a 43" Crossover of some sort. I tried a Samsung, but MVA panels don't do it for me for text work.
If this new one is IPS...
It looks like the LG you listed has screw holes for a VESA 75x75. So you could buy a better stand which supports raising it high enough to allow it to rotate into portrait. Something like this. (This item is an example, not a recommendation, I've never used that specific mount.)
For a bit...
Has anyone played with the PBP functionality? I'm sort of envisioning buying one of these to place to the right of my LG 43" with the same panel. Then hooking up 3 inputs:
1. DP or HDMI 2.0 at 1920x2160 on the left, additional desktop space contiguous with the center screen.
2. HDMI 2.0 or...
Don't forget the 43" LG 43UF7600. No idea on PWM or input lag, but I'm pretty fond of mine. It does 4:4:4 4k on 2 of the HDMI 2.0 inputs, and it's glossy and flat.
Once you're an adult I don't think it really matters much. But there supposedly has been a bit of an epidemic of nearsightedness in young people, due to so many of them being indoors all the time. One of the more likely theories is that it is simply lack of enough full spectrum light rather...
Weird I didn't notice it with black it all, but I never really went looking for it. I didn't go looking for the color shifts I did notice, they were just THERE. It's conceivable to me that the color shift is less noticeable on the 48" models simply due to them having larger pixels.
I keep...
Yes, the 43UF7600 has backlight bleed and/or IPS glow in the corners on a black screen. The only reason I know this, is because I just pulled up a full screen movie on it, for the first time since I set it up. At 2 feet the glow was pretty obnoxious, but once I moved back to 4 feet, it was...
How far you should sit from a display is not a function of screen size, rather it's a function of pixel density.
I'm currently sitting about 2 feet from a 43" 4k(3840x2160) HDTV, which is about the right distance to sit from a 102 DPI display. I sat the same distance away from my 30"...
Yep, it does 4:4:4 at 60Hz with Geforce 9xx and a decent cable. I haven't tried to measure it, but I'd guess the lag is 2 frames or less, since I don't notice any lag with the mouse cursor or when playing full screen games.
I also haven't noticed any ghosting issues, but then I've been using...
I tried a 40JU7500 for about 2 weeks, and I also never got used to the color shift. It was so bad, that I wonder if mine was defective in some way. 6-8 inches on both sides, and 3-4 inches on top and bottom always showed a significant color difference compared to the center. It was mostly...
I tried the Samsung UN40JU7500, loved the 4k, didn't love the pinkish whites around the edges of the screen. And for that matter almost any solid color other than black showed a color shift from the center to the top/bottom and from the center to the left/right. It's possible I had a defective...
Most modern(since the 1990s) fluorescent lights have electronic ballists that operate at a frequency of 20kHz or higher. Though I well remember the days of 60Hz fluorescent lighting combined with 60Hz refresh rate CRTs. The headaches, after a few hours, were excruciating.
