So I bought a new laptop from Dell, the E1505, and it turns out that it doesn't have the standard PC slot, and instead has an ExpressCard slot.
I have been looking around for a wireless network adapter that would fit the ExpressCard slot, but I haven't had any luck. From what I understand it...
Yeah i tried booting it on a piece of carboard (took the mobo out and just hooked up the CPU and the PSU). Nothing happened, I'm still not sure if I started it up right. How do you turn on the motherboard when there is no switch?
Also I RMA'd my old motherboard before this... because I was...
I checked the power connection and there is only the 3 prong standard connection for a fan. BTW this is the retail fan that came with the CPU.
I really do think that heat is the issue, because I have pretty much tried everything else.
Any other ideas to check to see if heat is the issue?
today I tried some things to see what I could figure out:
I took out the motherboard and layed down on some cardboard. Hooked up the 2 power connnectors that go into the motherboard and took the cords for the power switch and plugged that in. Tried to power it on by pushing the power button...
So if the motherboard makes contact with the case then it shorts the circuit?
I can see this happening, because I don't like how my motherboard is connected in my case, it just doesn't feel secure.
Thanks for the replies
Sorry I guess I should have stated this in my previous post
It's not the PSU as the computer I am running is currently using it. I have tried another PSU and no luck there.
I'm guessing that there is something screwed somewhere between the Motherboard, CPU and possibly the case?
I heard...
2 Months ago I was having a problem with my new computer:
Today I tried to rebuild it again hoping this time it would work. I had RMA'd the cpu and the motherboard. I received my RAM today that I had ordered too (PDP 1GB PC3200 RAM)

I'm looking to purchase the Samsung 710T tonight. Right now at Newegg it is $430 which is right in my price range. I don't want to spend to much more if I have too. The only thing is Newegg has a 8 dead pixel policy, and I don't want to get stuck with like 7 dead pixels...
MonitorsDirect has...
OMFG I am so pissed off right now.
In attempt to pack everything up for the RMA, I run into trouble again removing the CPU. I follow the directions stated in AMD's manual, by twisting the CPU and gently trying to pull up. After about 10mins with no luck, I give a little more force and up...
I think I'm gonna RMA the motherboard, do you think that I should replace it with another motherboard? If so can someone recommend me a better S754 board?
Thanks for the help.
EDIT:
If the CPU is not hooked up to the motherboard would the Power LED still be on, and hte computer be on if...
I replaced the heatsink's thermalpad with some thermal compound that came with my motherboard. I tried to start up and the CPU fan spinned for about 1/2 a second, then shut off, that was all that I saw (Didn't have other fans hooked up, and didn't look at the PSU fans). So does this sound like a...
Today when I got home I noticed that my computer was off, but the power light was still on. I tried to turn it off and turn it back on, but it wouldn't come back on. I've had this problem before and I thought that maybe the power supply went dead.
Considering that it was a new power supply I...

Thanks for the replies.
First off I wanted to dual boot windows xp and red hat 9.0. I'm a total newb to linux and I thought I'd try it out to see if I'd like it. My setup is like this:
120GB hard drive 1 partition with windows xp.
60GB hard drive not formatted.
So I tried to install linux on the 60, I dont think I...
No I dont want Raid, Its not possible with this setup. I'll just keep them as 2 separate partitions.
Oh BTW which is easier to do install windows first or linux first? I heard that you should install windows first, then linux, so that linux's boot loader takes over?
BTW im using Red Hat 9.0...
I have a 60gb and a 120gb hard drive.
Is it possible to partition the 60gb one into 2 partitions of 30gb each, and then mount one of them into the 120gb. Making it 150gb for one drive, and 30 for other. The reason for this is so I could have 150gb for windows and then 30gb for Linux. I'm not...
First off I'm trying to figure out why I'm not getting the FPS I should be getting in Doom 3... On the time demo I got avg 18fps on HQ 1024 x 768 no AA.
