Why Do You Need More Than 6GB of Memory?

True, but I would assert that the gains from a 4gb RAM drive are far greater than tighter timings or slightly faster RAM or even overclocks for the majority of people. Now encoding is benefited by CPU speed, but the things that are accelerated by a few gigs of memory acting as a drive are...

Why Do You Need More Than 6GB of Memory?

I really do not know why this is even up for debate. The more memory the better: ALWAYS. Use the extra for RAM disks (scratch and cache). It's very rarely a NEED, but those who turn that into a "never need" are idiots.

HELP!!! AHCI BIOS Not Detecting My Drives Anymore!!!

My computer (EX58-UD5) was working fine with an SSD and SATA HDs on the ICH10 and optical drives on the SATA2 controllers using AHCI for both ICH10 and the SATA2 controllers. I wanted to install Windows 7, and during the first go around, I messed up a driver install within the OS, so I went to...

    Questions Regarding Intel X25-E 64GB

I have a few questions regarding Intel's 64GB X25-E. I understand that it uses SLC flash, which is much better for longevity than MLC. I also understand that it has better write speeds than the X25-M series that use MLC flash. I am considering one as an OS/Application drive, but I need to...

Help With OC on Gigabyte EX58-UD5 and i7 920

First off, I am running the F6a BIOS. I am having a heck of a time trying to get an i920 to POST at 3.2GHz with an EX58-UD5 and 12 GB of Corsair XMS3 CM3X2G1600C9. I downloaded a PDF from Gigabyte on how to overclock to 4GHz, so I am mildly familiar with he more commonly used variables in the...

No Temp/Fan Monitoring for Powercolor X800GTO?

But the good thing is, I now have a Sapphire GTO and I am idling at 46 degrees celcius! I am going to RMA the Powercolor. I cannot believe Powercolor would disable that feature. Either that, or mine was damaged, but everything else ran fine, so... I never got a response from Powercolor and their...

No Temp/Fan Monitoring for Powercolor X800GTO?

Yeah, this card is not going to read the temps at all. In addition, the BIOS is locked, and I mean SUPER locked. I have tried manually installing new Sapphire BIOS using ATI flash as well as the bootable images that were made by dolf on that aforementioned forum and nothing. It was a real bummer.

No Temp/Fan Monitoring for Powercolor X800GTO?

Yeah, I have been hitting up all the tech forums for help. Nobody seems to know what's going on. Oh well.

No Temp/Fan Monitoring for Powercolor X800GTO?

I just bought a new Powercolor AGP X800GTO from newegg, hoping I would be able to monitor the temps and fan speed so that if a fan fails, I could catch it before anything bad happens. I also bought an Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer (Rev. 2). When I took off the stock HSF, there was a LOT of silvery...

DFI nF3 250Gb LanParty UT Inductor Whining

I just got this board after trying the Abit NF8-V. Both this and the NF8-V's Inductors whine when the CPU is loaded. It is not unbearable (I have very sensitive ears and a VERY quiet computer), but it is noticeable. What is the best substance to coat the inductors with to prevent them from...

    Faulty Arctic Cooling Silencer?

With my Lian-Li case, there were origially 2 80mm fans in the back and 1 80mm fan on top to vent air with 2 80mm fans taking in air. I modded it to have a 120mm blowhole and a 120mm opening on the bottom, and there is STILL negatine pressure with the opening on the bottom. 188.5cfm exiting and...

    Faulty Arctic Cooling Silencer?

I just installed mine and makes great thermal contact with my 9800P because the entire heatsink was warm, but when I put my had back behind the case it feels like there is no air coming out of it. The fan is definitely spinning. I put a strip of paper against the grille and the paper was...

    Pulsing fan....

I heard somewhere that Sunons do not like less than 7 volts. If you were to use the new Vantec fan controller that can go from 0-12 volts, it could happen. I have one and when I turn the fan down low (less than 7 volts I would say), the fan wouls speed up and slow down repeatedly for a while...
