I will vote for Tuniq too. Although as said above it is a pain in the arse to install and good luck if you have to take the back plate off your mobo....
You really have to give this game sometime before you can understand it and have fun with it. Even if you have played T1 and T2 before it takes quite a few hours before you get used to the new skiing and weapons.
I have 2 MX700's right next to each other. There are 2 different channels that you can use. Just make sure each is set to a different channel or they do interfere with each other.
It is pretty much accepted even by intel fan boys that Athlon 64s are superior to P4 in gaming.

How much cash do you have?
What I would probably do is buy:
CHAINTECH "VNF3-250" nForce3 250 Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket 754 CPU - $75
AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 512KB L2 Cache 64-bit Processor - $172
Then I would wait until the supply of 6800 GT's increased and the price falls to...
The closed T:V beta test has been going on for about a month now. The open beta test will hopefully be out at the end of this month or early september. If you are a Fileplanet subscriber you are supposed to get the beta test a week before everyone else, which should be anytime now.....
OCing that with PC3200 just involves changing your memclock multipler. Lets say you want to OC to 2400MHz. You change your memclock to run 5:6 (240 * 5 / 6 = 200) to run your ram in spec. I think I remember seeing a good guide about OCing A64s in the AMD forum.
Oops forgot about your other questions
2) Yeah you can do more than mild overclocking with that setup. You can run at 2.2 ~ 2.3 no problem
3) Yes. Check out some of the video card benchmarks at hardocp, www.anandtech.com, and www.xbitlabs.com. The 6800 blows the 256MB 9800 XT out of the...
The Antec power supply should handle it just fine. My friend is running a similar setup with a 6800 GT, and it powers his just fine. His 3.3 and 5 V rails are very constant, his 12V rail fluctuates a little more but is fine. Antec makes very good PSUs, thermalflakes are not quite as stable...
In your scenario both those systems would have very similar fps because they are both GPU limited with the 9700 PRO. Anandtech used a 6800 Ultra during their cpu tests to try to make the cpu the limiting factor. No one is lying.
I am a big A64 supporter but it is not worth the upgrade. If you are playing at 1600X1200, which I am guessing you are then you are still GPU limited anyway.
You dont need a 480W power supply, you just have to make sure you get a quality power supply. Since there are no defined ratings for PSUs you cant really look at the wattage you have to judge the rails. Try to get a PSU with at least 20 amps on the 12V rail. My friend is running his 6800 GT...
Doom 3 is just ok. Yeah the graphics are great. Yeah it is scary (if your idea of scary is having the lights turned off every other second annoying the hell out of you and making you switch to your flashlight). The storyline and gameplay are just ok. And with no multiplayer (no 4 player does...
I have a 36 gig raptor right now. I was running 2 in raid 0, but the performance couldn't justify the price for my applications. The only raptor that is might be worth it in my opinion is 1 74 gig raptor for $158 at newegg, and this is only if you have some money to burn. Otherwise there are...
If gaming is your #1 priority then you should allocate your money a little differently. 1st paying $318 for that ram is unnecessary. Getting a gig of Corsair value select for $166 will perform just a little slower (almost negligible) in games. You can also get a 3000+ ($170) and K8N Neo...
