I recently picked up an hp elitedesk 800 g3 sff. It has an i7-7700, 16gb of DDR4 ram, a 180watt psu (*note the psus in these units are proprietary) and I replaced the smaller ssd that came in it with a new crucial 500gb nvme ssd. I also added an evga gt 1030 gpu (the newer variant with ddr5.)...
Sorry I thought I responded to you before - I checked the link you posted earlier but it was already over / expired. I looked up ruckus 610 online and they go for like $300 (new)
Thank you. It's interesting, but at $180-$300 for the netgate device, plus still having to buy an access point to give it wifi capability, that becomes quite expensive. I wonder if one could run pfsense on a raspberry pi device...
It's 500/500 currently. I may get 1gb eventually but that is not currently available as they need to do some upgrades to accommodate the massive increase in demand for it in my area.
So, plugged right in I get 500 up and down (actually hilariously a little OVER 500.) But on wifi in the same...
I can't run cat5 unfortunately... doesn't an access point need to be wired in? Or am I being dumb. The only cat5 is between the fiber box (ONT) and the modem, can't run cat5 into the other rooms where wifi is needed / used.
Yes - and the reviews on that are pretty scary. The first several I saw when I scrolled down were all 1 star horror stories.
Also, what makes that better than say this one which is $169...
Hi,
I just switched from cable to fiber for internet. I am getting excellent speed when plugged directly into the router (it's some Arris piece of ****) but when I connect devices to it via wifi, they get a decent amount less, especially if they are any distance from the router (like in a room...
Wondering if anyone here can point me in the right direction. I'm considering a small custom project with a raspberry pi, (probably we all get these ideas a lot!) but what often holds me back is the need for a cheap, small display. I have looked into it a bit, but this is kind of new territory...
Thank you all! So generally it seems like the video card is the culprit. Could that explain why the win10 upgrade is failing?
That EuroCom link is great but wowwww they're expensive!! $5-600 for a gpu that is ~6 years old now...? And if you want a new hsf to go with it, that's another...
***I really appreciate any advice/assistance you can offer me***
I have a Sager NP8278-S (Clevo P170SM-A) which I purchased from XoticPC several years ago. I love the laptop and have never had any major issues with it (aside from the battery dying, which is to be expected after 5-6 years!)...
I have 3 folders, with a ton of PDF files in each.
We need to try to create a file / list of duplicates. (Assume duplicate filename = duplicate, don't need to examine the inside of the documents.)
I did some searching and found the following suggestion was given to someone else on...
I am trying to compare 2 PDF documents - which are about 95% the same but there are a few changes here and there, and I really need to find them.
The documents are just text, no tables or images or other crap that could be interfering with this.
I have tried a few different programs including...
You guys saying there is no more input lag are unfortunately wrong. My last 3 phones have all had this issue. I currently have a Motorola Turbo (the first one) and before that I had a Samsung G4 and before that I think another Samsung, maybe G2? In any case, with all 3 of these phones, the first...
I am in the market for a new phone and was initially interested in trying a Windows Phone but everyone here is hating on them so much... I would be concerned that it will be a pain to switch back if they just completely discontinue making them in the next year or two (which seems possibly given...
I need to get a new phone. I just came to terms with the startling realization that the entire phone marketplace has changed drastically; apparently the gold standard 2-yr contract with a subsidized phone is now a thing of the past. So, my first question is, since they aren't giving you a...
The vendor is less than useless unfortunately. I can't do a typical restore/repair operation to try to fix boot config because I don't even have a Windows disc for this (again, it's windows embedded - who uses that??)
I can definitely check the manufacturer and model of the hard drive and see...
I am trying to figure out whether a PC can be salvaged or not. It has Windows "Embedded" which is somewhat unfamiliar territory for me.
Currently, if you turn the PC on, it shows a screen that says Windows Embedded and some company information (from the vendor that originally supplied the PC.)...
I haven't had to deal with this in a while, but I am trying to help out a friend with a particularly bad malware-infected PC. A few years ago there was a kit out there that worked incredibly well, but I cannot remember what it was called.
It was basically a bundle of several free programs and...
I did look into options like the Razer Hydra, but then when I read that "many games support it" I was instantly turned off. I'm looking for 100% compatibility - not "well 80% of the games I like will allow me to use this."
Ok so essentially, thread highlights / TLDR:
-The steam controller is actually decent, give it a shot
-No one cares about the steam machine, move on
-There are some decent options (lap desks and tray table configurations) for mouse & kb on the couch
OK here goes - I have heard of people trying to stream their PC to their TV in the living room for years, but it was generally a very involved, expensive, and not particularly amazing process. Now with the steam link and steam machine options coming out, I am wondering if there is a worthwhile...
I checked out ebags, they have a large selection but didn't have anything that suits my needs. Fortunately I just lucked out and found a great Samsonite bag that has metal rings where the shoulder straps attach for 50 bucks - sold!
I am looking for a case for my new 17" Sager... I looked at several on Amazon but I am concerned as some users have reported the strap breaking (for several different cases/brands.) I most definitely do not want my expensive laptop to get smashed because a stupid strap broke.
Can anyone...
