It was connected to my monitor via a DVI to VGA adapter (my monitor has two ports, 1 dvi and 1 vga so the dvi is used for another machine).
It worked. Then I switched it to the dvi to hdmi for my TV, changed the resolution to something appropriate and then switched it back.
I really don't...
So my Mac Mini is running 10.5 and at some point I was running a 16:10 resolution (my monitors are 16:10 and support up to 1650X1080). I believe I originally ran it with 1280X800 but after I hooked my Mac Mini to my television via DVI to HDMI I've never been able to get my 16:10 resolutions...
Weird that you should say that. I just read that on an MS Money blog. Heh. My version (2007) will be discontinued in Sep 2009 so I'll need to upgrade at some point to continue using their online services.
So I finally updated my portfolio website. Now I know there are some silly spelling mistakes and some re-wording that needs to happen (most were minor and I didn't have a chance to update them so I just wanted to get it out there) but I'd like to get some feedback on it.
One of the items that...
Why did you let them charge you $400 for it? They make money off the service not the phone so it's easy to bend phone companies to your will for phone pricing (plan pricing is another ball game). You should have explained to them that it's cheaper for you to cancel your service, pay the ETF...
Thanks for the ideas! I'm going to steer clear of Mint since it stores my data on its databases (I don't need yet another place where it could be compromized). AceMoney is ok.
I decided to reinstall Money 2007 and it's very nice, actually. I was able to get it to automatically download all of...
I really wanted to like GnuCash (I love free and open-source software) but this applications is just really bad. Did they ever try the application themselves or am I that bad at using it (shouldn't it be extremely easy?)? For instance, if you add an account under the Accounts page then add a...
I'm in the market for a good all-in-one solution that will allow me to do the following:
Keep track of my personal finances (checking, savings, credit card(s), loan(s), maybe even stocks / 401k)Keep track of my business finances (checking, savings, business credit cards, maybe even...
Unless you want to attempt freelance (which can be very difficult if you haven't played at least a little in the industry in a professional manner), you should look at getting an internship first then an actual position.
When I first started my job search in this field I had no college degree...
Yeah it's very nice. I even have a scheduled backup for everynight that works quite well using 7z. Redmine also looks very cool but I don't have any of the Ruby stuff installed on my server. I may revisit it next year though.
Well I have a VPS that has practically no traffic and a large amount of space so I'd like to put it to good use as a source code server as well. I don't think it's a tall order though: It has to run on Windows Server 2003, use secure passwords for login... and that's about it. While I'd rather...
Oh ok I get it now. Thanks! I'd like to give Perforce another try but I still have two concerns with it:
1. Is there a server configuration guide or perhaps a really good Administration GUI? I couldn't figure out how to change anything relating to the Security Level even though the P4V...
I've checked out Perforce and it seems nice (see my first post) but I didn't see any really good tools such as Tortoise for Explorer integration. Are there any really good and free tools like Tortoise for Perforce? What about good Visual Studio plugins? Also, can Perforce be used with XCode?
The problem with using Apache is my server has IIS setup and is visible to the web. I'd rather not have two web servers running at once (extra resources being used and another security risk as I'm not very familiar with setting up Apache).
I also do not have Active Directory or LDAP (this is...
I'm looking for a Source Control System and I'm having a hard time finding one that will fit my needs.
Since most of my own development (which is what I need Source Control for) is amateur / hobbyist (i.e. not largely commercial), I can't afford to go a Visual Source Safe or TFS route.
I...
It would appear that I do not have access to any of these settings (if they even exist on my router).
I know... even though it's labeled a small business router.
Yeah it's WPA secured. I'd like to go WPA2 but not all of my devices support it.
Wow, when I called to get my laptop repaired (under warranty) they sent me a label (not prepaid) and told me to ship it to them. Why was your experience so different?
That device looks really cool actually. How does it work? Does it save everything onto a share on another computer or does another hard drive hook up to it? How's the interface?
Thanks I'll check out some of these settings.
Nope, usually light traffic with occasional bursts of either Torrents, Gaming (TF2) or Streaming video from places like NetFlix.
It always gets the this when I do torrenting unless I limit my upload and download significantly but it also...
So I've had an ATI TV tuner for quite some time (I don't remember the model number and am not sure how to look it up without trying to rip my card out) and it's worked great. So I've decided to get a second card so I can record two shows at once.
I picked up a Hauppauge! WinTV-HVR-1250 and...
I currently own a Netgear FWG114P but I'm worrying it may be going bad. First we had Comcast for quite some time but near the end it started becoming slow and some of our wireless devices wouldn't always connect right away to the router. Now we're on Verizon DSL and occasionally I'll get periods...
I've had two bad experiences with Gateway and will no longer deal with them.
1. My first laptop came from Gateway. After a few years I started experiencing audio issues with it. At the advice of an article on Gateway and one of their tech support folks, I attempted to update my BIOS. The BIOS...
I run Vista Ultimate 64-bit and do all my gaming on this machine and it rocks. All Valve games I've tried (HL, HL2, HL2:EP1, HL2:EP2, HL:D, TFC, TF2, CS, CS2), FarCry, Crysis, The Sims (not for me! I swear!), Rise of Nations, Just Cause and countless others.
The only problems I've ever had on...
This is critical. It's very odd they're going to allow preorders over 30 days before the ship date and I have not seen any indication that this thing is real.
Looks like a cool device and I may pick one up one day if it turns out to be real but I'd advise everyone to be very careful when...
My girlfriend wants to get one for school but we can't seem to find any! She would like a netbook with Windows XP and really likes the Acer Aspire One but BestBuy is out of stock (they are no longer carrying it) and absolutely no one online that I've seen even sells them anymore. Amazon has been...
When all else fails, contact the BBB. I can't tell you how many times I've had to go through the BBB because companies were not doing what they were supposed to do. So far, the BBB has gotten me results 100% of the time so if you don't have any luck, go through them.
Also, blacklisted. Thanks.
Identity columns, Primary keys, etc should not be mucked with. They should be used solely for referencing data. Anything that is displayed should be in an additional field as Mike explains.
As far as I understand, all modern C++ compiles since about 2003 have been standards compliant enough. I highly doubt many students or beginners (if any) are going to come across an actual compiler-standard-implementation issue.
Last time I was in a C++ class they didn't even come close to...
Basically it's just like the WD1500ADFD but 10GB more and SATA 2.0 (3Gb/s). It's a nice upgrade to my existing drive but it also appears to no longer be in distribution (if it ever was outside of OEM).
So yeah, some left over crap from a custom order. heh
I did complain. I didn't even receive...
I finally received an update from WD. They say that the WD1500ADFD has been discontinued and that I will be receiving a WD1600ADFS.
I would assume anyone else doing an RMA would get the same.
But he said he had a backup... just not of game saves (does anyone really copy their game saves? I know I don't; I've beaten Half-Life 2 about 4 times by now because of this).
Using RAID 0 isn't a big deal as long as you understand you keep your important data on other drive(s) (and the...
My last attempt at doing RAID1 was on an nvidia RAID. It worked... at first. Then it started reporting random hard drive issues that didn't make any sense. I seperated the drives and ran a ton of tests on them and both seemed to function 100%.
After that, I remove them from RAID and used them...
