    Completed: Project Nighthawk: Skunkworks F-117A

somehow I doubt his client would like it if they paid him all that money just to make a small little something for io ports and just hide a case...he makes badass cases and I'm sure that's what they're paying him for. btw crim, I wasn't sure how this thing was gonna turn out at the...

    WaterJet Cutting Goodies

Waterjet is just one of those things that just absolutely blows my mind any time I think about it. To cut 1/4" steel with water - and that accurately...thats just nuts. Looks like a good piece Crim, can't wait to see another worklog from you soon :)

Crim, I must say, this is so awesome. Every time I look at the progress on this thing I am in awe. Amazing painting skills. I do have an idea for your LED light that's on there though. When I saw you had two LEDs in there, something clicked...why not make one red one be on when the...

    Half Life 2 by Metahedron

thats a sweet case - only problem I have with it is its kind of backwards - no biggie. And that is a LOT of hd space in there...I can't imagine having that much storage... I about flipped when I got my little 160g.. personally, I'd ditch the wheels. I don't really think they'll be able to...

wow guys, I can't believe it. Whys everybody giving him a hard time for no recent updates? so he's a little off schedule, deal with it...it is HIS schedule after all. There are plenty of worklogs around here that go weeks or months without updates. and what the heck is with all the...

    Serial Experiements Lain Case

Dude, I hate you. I really really do (no I don't). I was also toying with the idea of painting my mx700, haha. I like the power box idea. I was thinking of that when I first saw the modular PSUs, but I think I may be too lazy to do something like that. can't wait to see how yours turns out...

Oooh that paint is sexy, think I might have to use that instead of just standard blue on my case...hmmm.... It's looking pretty good so far, can't wait to see it all put together. Don't worry about the cuts, there's more to come :) I've already gotten like 3 cuts on my current project and...

eesh, geez, lets all just chill. anyway Crim, I really like the LCD blast door design. Looks to be sweet...somehow I don't think I'd be able to fab stuff up like that for myself. Hope you can get the touchscreen working...would be a shame to have it available and not be able to use it...

I can't believe we're already getting another one mashie. I guess I never really think about the actual size of those SFF systems - they're bigger than I always think they are....when I first saw the RAID I was thinking "there's no way that'll fit in there." wrong as usual :) Is this...

my wc project got shot in the foot

While I agree that you need proper packaging, I don't think its ALL in the packaging - seriously, the shipping companies just shouldn't beat the hell out of our stuff, THAT's the problem. You shouldn't have to package it to withstand 70lbs from a 10ft drop, that is just insane. Seriously, I...

    Project: Brainchild

Small update today. Don't really know what I want to say...removed this corner of the case and screwed it to the side panel Then attached the backplane to it. That's all I guess - I'm tired and can't think. good to see that thing back in place. I started a little work on...

are you going to mount the hinge on the outside like I did or do it a slightly different way, since you're making your own case and can get away with it?
  21. S

    Project: Brainchild

thanks. Before I paint, I'm going to smooth the edges with bondo so you don't have that hinge popping out..maybe add something over it so you don't notice (I think I said that before). Ah well, now time to figure out how to attach that motherboard tray. I have an idea, but not sure how...

    Project: Brainchild

Wahoo! It's alive! ITS ALIVE!!!! Ok, well its not alive, but its hinged, moves like a door, and doesn't fall apart :) Here's the piano hinge I picked up at Home Depot last night for $8...it was 30" but I cut it down to 16 7/8". Originally I was thinking I would just JB Weld the...

    Project: Brainchild

I just put the hinge on a little bit ago. I temp. screwed it to the case and JB'd it to the side panel...I'll probably end up riveting it to the bottom and maybe reinforce it on the panel with rivets too...we'll see. Gonna go change my spark plugs right now and then I'll test the hinge. If...

    Calling all UV people!

why not use a can of spraypaint clearcoat to keep things from chipping/smearing depending on what you use?
  26. S

    Project: Brainchild

I was thinking of doing just that, or just putting the piano hinge on the outside and filling the holes in with bondo so all you really would see would be the round edge anyway...maybe do something decorative to hide the edge of the hinge...might be simpler that way. anybody know if you can...

the reason it looks unbalanced is, if you'll notice, that the 'M' is further away from the right light than the 'D' is from the left, but as he said, it'll be tweaked later - you can't see shit with gray primer also, I believe from the beginning he's been saying he wants to aim the light at...

ouch 45 hours...dude, do you ever sleep? :) and yeah, it would require a few little mechanisms. I figured out how it could be done with just 1, but it could only be done for a certain lighting arrangement. oh well, at least I tried.

    Calling all UV people!

not if you smoke a lot of pot :D you just suck :D But in all seriousness, "too much" glow usually means a bad thing. If you're saying what you want to do is too much, then you shouldn't have to ask that question. I personally don't really care for a lot of UV stuff, but some people...

Need Ideas on Modding a Thermaltake Tsunami

my advice...find a solid side panel and cut your own window cause the current one is fugly. I dig the style of the front bezel so I don't know if I would do anything to that. Other than that, I dunno, I can't think right now.

    Project: Brainchild

I wasn't thinking clearly when I originally came up with that design. I never did check the clearances but I know that's why this happened. It can be remedied but as I edited into my previous post, it would require a gap at the bottom of the panel...which would look kinda shoddy I think. So...

That's funny, we started our mods that include the G4 style tray within a couple days of each other :) Just curious, what are the triangle things near the mobo tray in that sketch? Also, are you attaching the tray straight to the side panel and hinging it at the bottom from the inside...

    Project: Brainchild

Had some time after work tonight, so I thought I'd modify the side panel a bit. First off, here's the whole panel. Where you see the word 'cut' is on the bottom of the panel; that whole tab needs to be removed because that's where the hinge for the door will be located. The tabs where the...
