I was wondering if any of you had this issue with the Intel 4600 (4770K) driver whereby it makes core 1 spike to 100%. When I login to windows, I have no mouse and the keyboard lags. Sometimes the sound is garbled.
I broke out my trusty 9800 GT, installed the drivers and disabled the Intel...
I am not talking about the need to push performance, rather the necessity to keep your company afloat. DRAM isn't a very profitable market right now, so one would argue that your process technology is key.
Yet it seems like it has not kept up with the logic process shrinks and I am wondering...
You'd think that with DRAM it'd be more of a necessity.
In February, Elpida filed for bankruptcy (and has ~$5 billion debt). Hynix and Micron both posted a net loss this past quarter.
I have a question that i have been thinking about (hope this is in the right section)
What is harder to make? DRAM, NAND or logic (i.e CPUs, etc)
The ITRS uses DRAM half pitch for its projections, but if you look at 2012, it calls for a half pitch of 32nm.
Intel has been using the 32nm...
I would say if you can get the cheap 9550 or 8400 go for it. There comes a point where your new CPU cost just as much as an a new i7.
If you go for the quad, it should last you a while (beyond 2011). I have a Q6600 what was from what, 2007 (got it in 2008). Point is it's still pretty fast and...
my setup is kind of ghetto (it's at home and our budget was pretty much the equipment)
we pretty much project the image onto the wall. The projector is in the back of the room and we ran a sleeved wire for the front and center speakers down the middle. They have PCI-E connectors so that they...
you will be fine. I have PowerDVD 7 Ultra installed on my windows 7 x64 box and it works fine. It changes the color theme to vista basic when you start playing the bluray/hd-dvd, but it goes back to aero when you're done.
I think they're talking about sandybridge which is due out Q4 2010 (after Westmere)

I've used vista since beta 2 and while it's come a long way (although i stopped using it in Jan), I'm in love with windows 7.
I haven't tried much of the library or networking features and I don't use windows media player (i'm pretty much all VLC or iTunes). Having said that...
Sometimes vista...
you don't have to use RE3s for the raid 1. There are some tweaks in the RE3 that make it good for raid.
I have 2 RE3 in RAID 0 and a black in non raid 0 and it runs pretty well.
And i think the RE3 and blacks are the same drive. The lower capacity RE3s have the same dual processor design, but...
when you booted, did you set the primary boot device to CD-ROm or did you do the F-12 thing where you can select the boot device.
I've noticed that sometimes if you don't set the boot device to cd-rom, the setup kind of freaks out
I read the first part and skimmed the benchmarks part cause i cared more about the theory...(friend used to give me lectures on NAND and i never knew what he was talking about).
From what I got from the article, the random write performance is more important than the read speed because in...
some devices do not need a stop down as they do it themselves.
What i'd do is check the power brick of each device and see if it accepts 220 V @ 50 Hz
For example, my LCD says 110/220 V 50/60 Hz which means that it can use both. A lot of newer psu's (that don't have the red 110/220 V...
I found out the day the article went up that i already short stroked my drives.
comparing a 160 GB partition to around a 800 GB partition (2x500 GB RE3)
Access time is around 8.4 ms 12ish (160 GB vs. 800
and read times are significantly improved as well.
D0 is the mask revision.
From what i've been told, the same letter, different number (i.e B0, B1, B2, B3) is a small mask revision while a change in letter is a huge mask change.
Does anyone have this phone or know how good it is?

It's $150 shipped and i need a new phone and the specs of this one look really good.
It's a HTC clone and i want to get one.
I short stroked my HD and it's fast.
I have 2x500 GB WD RE3 drives in a RAID 0.
The primary boot is a 160 GB partition
And the data drive is a 771 GB partition.
I'm shocked. Next time i redo my HD config, my documents/music is going on a smaller partition.
Nice looking case. The only part of the video i understood was mini-itx.
TechReport said that it would be $70

yeah you're probably right. But couldn't it be said that to hit a certain clock speed, you need to increase voltages which would cause the exponential increase in power?
When overclocking my quad, I could hit say 3.4 on a pretty reasonable voltage, but to hit 3.6 i had to increase the voltage...
I use Power DVD Ultra (the one that came with the multi-format LG one).
It forces Vista/Windows 7 to return back to the basic look, but other than that it works well.
I'm pretty sure i have the one that you linked to - the 1 TB black edition.
I have to say WD has good customer support. Just thought i'd throw that in there.
Anyway, i don't normally benchmark drives and compare them, but i can record a HDTV show with MCE and watch it which it's recording...
Thermal constraints and performance. Power doesn't always scale linearly with clock speed; i believe it's more of an exponential increase (which is why when the G5 hit a certain clock speed, apple watercooled it). As for improving the IMC, i'm sure that they'll do that, but how much of a...
I shot with an XT on a cruise a few weeks ago, and i'd say that stock lens is fine for what most people probably use (general pictures). If you want, you can throw in one of those F1.8 lenses for low light situations, but imo, stock lens should be good...for now.
1. I hear that as you decrease the process size on which the NAND cells are made, there are new reliability and performance issues. How does Intel plan on solving said issues.
2. We hear a lot about i/o fusion and micron putting NAND on PCI-Express. Does Intel plan on doing the same?
3...
Kyle.
The hair and mustache make you look pretty B.A.
anyway, i liked your point about the air cooling vs. wc and the test bench thing.
Have you ever tried IntelBurnTest?
