    X25-M G2 + Jmicron AHCI = crap :(

Thanks I didn't realize it is so limited. Apparently Asus had AHCI support it in very early bios' and took it out in subsequent releases (i.e. 1+ year ago) I don't even think it's ICH9R, it's ICH9 which leaves AHCI support to the vendor. I suppose any ICH10R motherboard will do fine?

    X25-M G2 + Jmicron AHCI = crap :(

I've been doing test after test all day once I got my Intel G2 and it seems the JMicron controller on my motherboard is the epitome of fail. I compared the Jmicron set to AHCI mode, directly connected to my native ICH9 IDE mode - unfortunately doesn't support AHCI (only can select IDE in...

    EVGA & Excessive Canaidan Shipping?

I didn't even see this $45 fee until you register a product and have to submit an RMA. It's not clear on their website and I don't see any mention of $45. Not impressed at all

AMD's Ruiz Dabbles in Entertainment at OracleWorld

I was at that keynote and it was not interesting at all. Intel's keynote from CEO Paul Otellini was far more intereseting and relevant to the people attending. However to be fair, there were several other AMD speeches (one of which I attended) that focused more on Barcelona and how it will...

Q for Canadians that used the EVGA step up program

Apologies if this has been answered before, I searched and coudn't find a thread Just wondering, did you get dinged at the border for customs? Also what taxes did you pay, and how did you ship the card (in the original box, another box, etc?) From what I could tell on the Evga forums, they...

I got my answer elsewhere, TCQ is not supported in the MS IDE drivers so I'll leave it as is. Thanks :D

    Disabling TCQ on Nforce4

Asus A8N-E WD Raptor 74GB I'm trying to disable TCQ on my WD Raptor 74GB, but I did not install the Nforce4 IDE drivers because of some reports of weirdness (and also similar bad experiences with my Nforce2 setup) - therefore I'm just using the Windows drivers. The rest of the Nforce drivers...

eVGA 7800GT CO film on the heatsink

Take it off!!! It will melt onto the heatsink. It was there to prevent scratching On a side note, my 7800GT CO is idling at 44 celcius. x2 3800 on my A8N-E is at 36C celcius stock HSF while I await my big typhoon :D

Any advantage to getting A8N-SLI over A8N-E (not going to SLI)

Thanks - I decided to go with the A8N-E because of the PCI 4X and my case doesn't have a window so the color was a moot point after all :D

Any advantage to getting A8N-SLI over A8N-E (not going to SLI)

Is the build / bios functionality superior on the SLI board? I'm just speaking about the vanilla SLI board, not the premium or deluxe or 32-lane version. The price difference is only about $10, and I do like the black PCB style of the SLI version. I won't be using SLI at all.

Many problems already plagued by some US PSP units.

I had a problem with a 21" G500 Trinitron, it was bought second hand. Had no problem getting warranty work done w/out any receipts, due to the date stamp on the monitor. They didn't do a good job on it however (had to replace the base, which I couldn't easily replace due to integrated electronics)

    Can't decide on 5.1 speakers

What about the Gigaworks? Megaworks are an older set and aren't as great, I'd pick the Z680's over the megaworks but definitely the Gigaworks over the Z680s.

Logitech 680s or Klipsch Ultra 5.1s - Compare

You should consider the Gigaworks S700. Close to the Z680 price but far better in terms of quality - satellites and subwoofers. I spent a lot of time researching between the Gigaworks and Klipsch - the general consensus is that the Gigaworks have the best sats but the Klipsch easily has a...
