I had this same problem. One of the settings in AA was switched (might have been me) and my FPS in L4D were like 30 and I was like 'wtf?' and then switched it back and ta-da, problem solved.

roflllllllll You're missing the entire point. You did break your warranty even if they can't tell. If you OC it, the warranty is still void, regardless of what you tell them. What you tell them just determines whether or not you are going to get any service. You aren't getting 'punished'...

There's no logic in this statement. They don't punish you for anything, and to say that the company is punishing you because you overclocked and were 'honest' (as if that some how erases the fact that you broke the warranty?) is simply ridiculous.

There is no 'best' guide. You screw all the components into all the places they go and that's it. If you know how to read an instruction manual you can put together a PC, just read the instructions for each component. You'd have to fail pretty hard to mess it up.

Like I said any board with SB710 or SB750 should work. If you want to be sure go to the manufacturers website of a particular board and check the BIOS updates. They will mention ACC (you can see this on the 790 @ Gigabyte's website).

It just has to be 710 or 750. I have a 770UD3 Rev. 1 and it has no ACC because it's SB700. Rev. 2 of this board does have ACC, because it's SB710. ACC is available on the other Gigabyte boards (790, etc).

Careful with what model of 770 though, not all have ACC.

Having the case open will only hurt temps. The point of case fans is to create a vaccuum. If the case is open, there's no vaccuum.
