Update to this thread. I just got my 2 8 inch LED strips and let me tell you it's a huge difference. These are definitely a deep red and not the pinkish of the cold cathode. I definitely recommend LED's over cold cathode. I will post updated pics and see if you can tell the difference.

Yeah that's the thing about camera's(I am an aspiring professional photographer), especially when taking a shot in the dark like that...it's really hard to get the proper white balance. To the naked eye it's pink.
