i had seen that, even if the switch is Auto MDI, you can still use a crossover cable correct? so it would just be safer to spend another 3$ and get a crossover cable when i install the switch rather than a cat5e it not working and then having to go find a crossover cable
i may bring that up, but i think currently they want to do the cascading switches with the 5 port, my only question now is do i need a crossover cable going from port8 of router/switch1 going to the uplink of switch2? or would a normal cat5e cable work, i know with computers, you have to have a...
what specs would be required by a router comp, also, they would have to maintain this themselves, and they aren't very comp literate, my dad knows some simple PC troubleshooting and they could get another guy with some minor networking experience, but it would need to be somewhat like a setup...
i can get a 5port hub for 30$ easily
if i did get another 8 port switch and used port 8 of the router/switch1 and plugged it into the uplink of switch2 (non-router version) would i need to use a crossover cable?, or would a simply ethernet cable suffice

My dad's work is a small business, but when a new computer arrives in the next few weeks and their wanting to network their printer, they are in need of an upgraded network.
Currently they have a Linksys BEFSR81
They have had it a few years, its an 8 port Router/Switch, and they currently have...
I built this a few weeks before I went to college and had never gotten around to posting pictures but here is my computer:

This isn't a case mod, but a sort of board for my to write on, I dont like using lined paper and have always preferred glass and a grease pen, but at college I figured plexiglass and a grease pen would work better, but I will post pictures of my case.
I was wondering where some of you order plexiglass, I would prefer smoky/tinted acrylic. The local Lowe's doesn't carry the tined, so I was wondering if some knew where to order it online for a fairly decent price. Though I would rather be able to order large sheets, 48" x 96" would be nice...
i mean window it on this monitor without it looking to horribly (i run 1280x1024).. i guess i could see how it works and then if i need to, just go pick up a cheap monitor
so this bundle is the one I should get for my TV viewing/partial capturing needs?
what type of monitor did you pick up
specs/brand(generic)/anything you specifically look for?
and this TV tuner does route it through the video card?
or could I just window it and not mess with fullscreen res?
Do I need the something other than the MCE version, since I use XP Pro and not MCE? Even though there isn't much of a difference(read someone in another thread). With those inputs I can also console game on the monitor also?
I was wanting to steer away from having to get another device such...
I am a freshman at college, no roommate and I would rather purchase a TV Tuner than an actual TV. I don't know if computer specs have anything to do with it or not.
I am running Windows XP Professional

I am trying to install a program onto a laptop computer but when I put in the CD, the normal popup comes up, but it says that the CD is blank. I put the CD back into my desktop and it shows the actual files on the CD, is there anyway to bypass this? or another way to intsall the program.

Friend bought this and was wondering about reviews and/or personal use and what you think of this drive.
I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe MOBO.. and when I tried to update the USB 2.0 drivers through the provided MOBO drivers disk, it said to install Windows Service Packs, so now I have Service Packs installed, the Drivers from the disk say that XP has USB 2.0 support, and my USB drivers are stilling...

Ive done all that I can think of, updated all the things that I can, mobo, drivers, controllers, and Windows. I am running Service Pack 2. When I boot up, on the POST test it shows my 2 drives connected, both LBA and the proper capacities, 251GB and 300GB, same goes for when I access my BIOS...
i had to partition my drive, since it is 250GB and windows only saw 137, so I did 50GB for OS and Apps and the other partition at ~200 for storage, in case of a virus or something other ill fated occurance plauging my OS/Programs
My old desktop, one that I am fixing for my mom restarts for no reason. I have had the computer for a 2 years, and up until about January of this year, it ran great. Now though every once in a while, mainly when the computer goes under load, the comp will restart. I thought it was a PSU...
what size partition should I make? ive never had to partition before and dont want it to be too small or too large? 50 GB seem ok? or what size do you recommend
I just finished building a desktop using SATA drives, and I have never used them before
I went to install XP Professional but when it shows the accessible drives that I can install on, it shows 2 drives with 131GB a piece, the problem is I installed a 250GB and a 300GB drive. I checked BIOS...

which flash drive should I go with,
i am double majoring and the computer science department head said that 1GB would be best so I would never have issues about running out, so being the person I am decided to get 2GB
everyone here recommendeds TwinMOS, could I get a link to the exact ram...
while my burner can read DVDs at 16x it can only read CDs at 48x, so the 52x32x52x is just a preference of mine.
I am getting the 160GB HDD and the 300GB HDD mainly because my 250GB External HDD is already filling up, so that the 160GB will be my main setup/install and my 300GB will be only...

Venice 3800+ is 2.4 GHz with 512KB L2 Cache
San Diego 3700+ is 2.2GHz with 1MB L2 Cache
does 512 KB L2 cache make more of a difference in speed or does .2 GHz
I am building a new computer in about a month though have a question, should I go with the Venice 3800+ or the San Diego 3700+. .2GHz or 512KB L2 Cache, which is more important and which would be faster for a gamer. Thank you
